Here's a little behind the scenes look at the making of Britney Spears music video Toxic which I wrote, did the creative direction for and choreographed. These are excerpts from the MTV episode of Making the Video which followed the entire process back in 2003! I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks to my assistants Jennifer Fratarcangelo & Sunny Walter as well as Staci Flood for dancing with Sunny in the plane. Also thank you to Joseph Khan & Britney Spears for believing in me and giving me this opportunity at such an early stage in my career. I can't forget Tyson Beckford for coming to play too!

I knew Britney danced but I didn't know she did everything herself without a stunt double including a back flip in high heels. She's a power house.

I'm not on social media but I've been following news of her conservatorship since it emerged in mainstream media. I hope Britney gets justice and her freedom from that hideous family. I can't believe her fans brought this situation to light. Who else can say they were saved by their fans? Gives me hope for humanity ❤️

I randomly met Britney around this period when we were both out one night in NYC. She was so friendly, warm and sweet. When I read about all of the garbage her family and management did to her it broke me heart. She is a lovely human and her spirit was cruelly broken because of other people's greed. More than anything I can't even begin to imagine how much the situation with her kids has affected her. She deserves so much better. I hope she finds peace and true joy in life again.

You can tell she was so open and trusting of everyone, and was totally herself. Then everyone started taking advantage of her and 2007 happened and that Britney was gone. She's grown up so much but I feel that guard is still up from her trust being battered as she said. She's so adorable though.

I'd rather say and 2008 happened. She lost her happiness and freedom back when the conservatorship started when you take 2007 day by day, it was nothing like the media sold it to people.

I suddenly felt great sadness watching this and even goosebumps. Not many know what was done to her and all artists.
She’s still like that but she pulled back from being herself in public after they literally hounded and traumatized her for years
@Alissa It has nothing to do with personality changing and evolving through the years, which is perfectly normal. In her case, it seems she literally lost her soul. It's the saddest thing, because it takes me watching that video to see the tons of charisma she used to have. I mean, wow, what a star! It's like watching Elvis, or Michael Jackson, or Madonna when she was young, their charisma and X-factor just explodes on camera. Now she looks like a bad impersonator of herself. I've seen very old people lose their personality, but never such a young person. It's the saddest thing to see what mental illness can do.
I felt kinda bad for the nerdy guy she had to "kiss" when everyone kept telling her to think of something else while doing the scene 😂🙈

You can see her personality was so fun and bubbly and if you watch her in interviews now she’s like a completely different person. It makes me really sad for her. Her dad has put her through so much 😞

Her dad can't take all the blame, a lot of other people contributed to her downfall. There's a lot being kept secret about those years including Beyonce paying to keep her songs at the top of the Billboards.

I feel like no one understand how hard it would be being Britney. I know for a fact no one could handle. Hell she couldn’t even handle it. I have a lot of respect for her; she’s a tough woman. Working nonstop, having no privacy, having no one who genuinely cares about you and loves you for you, people constantly using you, etc.
And horrible parents who live off her grandiously but put her on meds
@@jelenad6367 I think there's more to the story we haven't heard yet, if I remember correctly Britney was under attack by pretty much everyone back then and locking her down was the only way to save her from financial ruin. Britney should be worth a lot more than she is today, but she would worth a lot less without the conservatorship.
For real… I truly believe she would have killed herself if it wasn’t for her kids. I’m so excited about her book that she’s writing exposing everyone. Literally everyone turned against her for her money. Even her own family… She had no one on her side. She has one hell of a strong mentality because I believe most people would have killed themselves if they were in the same situation. Britney is so amazing and I wish her true happiness from here on out! 😍🤍🥰

I love watching Britney behind the scenes. Even though she’s filming, dancing, and working crazy long hours she always keeps such a positive attitude. The fact that she’s so sweet, kind,humble, and funny with everyone she works with is just so fun to watch. She’s never a diva and remains herself regardless of the fame and I just love that about her! For anyone who thinks she just does recording/a little bit of dancing need to watch these behind the scenes videos and realize she worked her ass off to become the princess of pop.❤️

The way she executed those scenes like in the cabin-how precise and clean everything was acting, dancing and serving face while bringing her own swag- people don't know how TALENTED and SPECIAL you got to be! It's like being that finalist in ANTM, SYTYCD etc where you gotta bring it everytime and that's the fire that Britney has except Britney would be the finalist of the All Stars. She just NAILS things.

With the conservatorship over for awhile now, and her book just out, where she makes everything very clear - she’s probably doing a lot better. I just finished the book and I’m full of respect and admiration for her. Hopefully her long term legacy will be about her creativity as an artist, her talent, hard work, intelligence and sweet personality. And being an awesome mom. (Nobody will forget how gorgeous she is!)

Brit- we were at the gay bar (Parliament house, orlando) when this premiered. It came on all the tvs (disco, back bar, drag bar, outside bars, pool bar, video bar). The entire place went silent. Some little giggles here and there and then... At the end, there was a brief pause. Then, the entire place erupted in claps and screams and happy laughter! It's a moment I'll never forget. Thank you! We love you! You touched all of our lives!

You can clearly see that her instagram dance videos are just unseen steps from her music videos, i can't believe that they are calling her crazy because of it. People forgot that it's her signature dance moves.

This was Britney right before her knee injury. Most people talking about how she can't dance..she had her knee fixed but can't use it the same way as she used to. She never will. It's why Me Against the Music is such an iconic piece of choreography. It's complex, athletic, layered, and difficult and Britney at her peak.
Bullshit, her knee injury wasn't that bad. It's not like she was crippled. She could dance like that if she wanted to.

Thank you for sharing this Brian. Your work with Britney here was epic. I remember learning this routine (minus the backflip) for one of my drag shows and it went down a storm. And Britney, she slayed me so hard when I saw this for the first time on MTV. She is so talented to pick up the intricate and technical moves like a true professional.
