@@JoeFanik yeah she's very aggressive by nature (at least from what we now since before she joined eagle fang) and also very competitive. She totally embraced the strike first, strike hard philosophy, and only learned that after starting Karate. Sadly no one made even a slight effort to bring her back to Eagle Fang, and we even have a hint of her fighting Bert in the brawl, with the little dude being on the ground near her in one scene (F for the poor guy, he even had a crush on her) I've got a feeling that she's gonna be in the tournament by Myagi's side, she's a well liked character and had decent developement, while also having room for a lot more.

At the end you hear Robby give a loud and proud "Yes, Sam" which is fitting considering all they been through. Remember Robby and her were the first two students of Miyagi-Do so besides Daniel, Robby has seen the growth of Sam's karate skills throughout the whole Cobra Kai series from the very beginning to now. Don't know if it was an audible by Tanner or written in but whichever it was, it was a nice little touch that added to the moment.

Devon is actually a beast all things considered. She never makes the same mistake twice, which you can see by how she dodges the second leg sweep with a leg raise and quickly follows up. She’s lacking experience but has a high fight IQ, and she could quite happily eventually outpace most of the other students because of how quick she learns, even during a fight.

I always found it actually quite interesting that Sam fights in a very different way than usual Miyagi-Do students. Really adds to giving each individual a uniqueness to them. When Sam decides to not mess around anymore she relies more heavily on Stances that allow her to confuse opponents and open up counter hit opportunities. My head-cannon is that Daniel / Miyagi decided to teach her a different branch of Miyagi-Do for one reason or another.

Honestly, as far as Cobra Kai sensei’s go, Kim Da-Eun was good. She got helped Devon get a lot better, and she wasn’t mad at her for losing to Sam because she knew she wasn’t experienced enough and it wasn’t her fault.

The way both Eagle Fang and Miyagi-do collaborated is such a joy to watch. Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso represented two side of the same coin in what we called "martial arts ethics", with Johnny's Eagle Fang bright colors symbolizing the assertive and aggressive approach and Daniel's Miyagi-do representing the inner balance and resilience - and when blended together I don't think they can be defeated - and of course both dojos' students were supporting Sam, like Miguel said, and Robby with his supportive gaze.

I also like how Johnny built Eagle Fang to be the anti-thesis of Cobra Kai. He still uses aggression in training, but it's not focused at defeating external enemies, but rather on the internal enemy of fear and self-doubt.

Watching this again is crazy because you can really see how the crooked calls were always made when the Sekai Taikai board members visions were obscured; 1) the kick to Devon below the shoulder, Sam's body is actually kind of blocking their vision and 2) Devon's kick to Sam thereafter; Sam parries the attack but her torso/gi are again obscuring a clear view of the strike. o.O

feel bad for devon at the end of s4 she fought so hard against tory and was destroyed but felt it wasn’t her fault obviously because she just started. then during s5 she trained so hard only to get destroyed by sam even with a dirty ref. feels like nothings changed 😢

Devon deserves some credit for stepping in there. It was short notice, it was supposed to be Tory, not her. She stepped up and got in there against someone she knew outclassed her by miles and miles. The skill gap was just to big. Devon is still new to karate, while Sam's been doing it all her life. If we're being honest, even Tory is no match for Sam. The crooked ref in the All Valley tournament was a plot device that had to be there, otherwise, Tory beating Sam just isn't believable. Any other time they've fought, Sam always handed her her head.

3:45 Sams final point has got to be the best performance of all 5 seasons of Cobra Kai. She is absolutely flawless in everything she did. Yes, Miguel, Robby and Hawk are better lorewise. But her fighting in this point is better than anything I have ever seen Robby, Miguel or Hawk ever do.

I coach baseball and we had an umpire who refused to call strikes when the batters didn't swing so we basically did what Chozen and Daniel told Sam. We told our pitcher to leave no doubt and to aim every pitch right down the middle and throw it directly into the catcher's glove and force the umpire to call a strike whether he wanted to or not. We told our catcher to squat directly behind the plate and call 4-seam or 2-seam fastballs and nothing else; no curves, cutters, change-ups, anything. We told our defense that balls will be coming so be ready, make a play and get their pitcher off the field. In other words, force the batters to swing, trust our defense and take the game out of the umpire's hands. With pitches coming down the middle, they started swinging a lot more often. Because our pitcher threw hard and fast, they also started missing a lot more and that, of course, is a strike that the umpire has to call. They made contact, too, but our defense stepped up. Strategy worked. We won the game.

I think what people also forget sometimes is the Sam has been doing karate much longer than the other students. She started out as a little kid. Stopped doing at some point but still had all the muscle memory. As seen which she dumped Kyler's dumbass. Yeah she can kick Devon's ass. Devon is great but it's clear she is no much for SAMANTHA LARUSSO.

A round of applause for Devon. She knew she was outmatched but still went in with the full intention to win. When sam scored her first point with the leg sweep, Devon was clearly upset by it so the next time Sam did it Devon actually lifted up her leg to dodge it and then counter with a kick. Her mindset of “not giving up” “not making the same mistake twice” and “always fighting with the intention to win no matter how much stronger the opponent is” is what makes her such a great character despite not having much screen time. I don’t get why people dislike her. She never once abandoned her principles or bullied anyone. Hawk, Robee, and Tori and all done much worse things while in Cobra Kai. The only reason she was in Cobra Kai was because the dojo she was in got taken over and she stayed in Cobra Kai solely to get better at her Karate.

Sam has been training the longest out of all of them and in s2 kinda showed she was still more skilled than robby and hawk easily. then she proceeded to learn the dual mixed styles like all of them so she got the same boost they did. And idk what you mean she struggles with tory in every single time theyve fought sam has won pretty handily as soon as she actually starts the fight. The school fight was mainly her playing defense not tryna fight but she still won. in s3 she basically had ptsd but as soon as she overcame it she handled tory pretty easily. Obviously in s4 she won but the ref cheated. Claiming tory is arguably more skilled is crazy people just like to downplay sam for whatever reason

The counter fight kick that Sam did along with the beastly yell is the definition of badass!!!! Samantha Larusso’s my all time fav since the show aired, and Mary’s skill with her training had came a long way too.
Sam hugging Chozen was my favorite part. So wholesome.

@@JoeFanik yeah she's very aggressive by nature (at least from what we now since before she joined eagle fang) and also very competitive. She totally embraced the strike first, strike hard philosophy, and only learned that after starting Karate. Sadly no one made even a slight effort to bring her back to Eagle Fang, and we even have a hint of her fighting Bert in the brawl, with the little dude being on the ground near her in one scene (F for the poor guy, he even had a crush on her) I've got a feeling that she's gonna be in the tournament by Myagi's side, she's a well liked character and had decent developement, while also having room for a lot more.

Devon was the only one that wasn't corrupted by Cobra Kai she didn't care about strong arming people or striking first just wanted to be the best she could be at the time.

At the end you hear Robby give a loud and proud "Yes, Sam" which is fitting considering all they been through. Remember Robby and her were the first two students of Miyagi-Do so besides Daniel, Robby has seen the growth of Sam's karate skills throughout the whole Cobra Kai series from the very beginning to now. Don't know if it was an audible by Tanner or written in but whichever it was, it was a nice little touch that added to the moment.

I give Devon credit. But there was no question that Sam is was more skilled compared to her.
Devon is actually a beast all things considered. She never makes the same mistake twice, which you can see by how she dodges the second leg sweep with a leg raise and quickly follows up. She’s lacking experience but has a high fight IQ, and she could quite happily eventually outpace most of the other students because of how quick she learns, even during a fight.
That's because before she started karate she was book smart so she uses her smarts during martial arts.

I always found it actually quite interesting that Sam fights in a very different way than usual Miyagi-Do students. Really adds to giving each individual a uniqueness to them. When Sam decides to not mess around anymore she relies more heavily on Stances that allow her to confuse opponents and open up counter hit opportunities. My head-cannon is that Daniel / Miyagi decided to teach her a different branch of Miyagi-Do for one reason or another.
She finds hershelf more identified to Eagle Fang, something that we already seen at the end of s3
She’s been learning for much longer than any of the other kids in the show. Her kata forms are much more advanced. Everyone else is technically a beginner

Honestly, as far as Cobra Kai sensei’s go, Kim Da-Eun was good. She got helped Devon get a lot better, and she wasn’t mad at her for losing to Sam because she knew she wasn’t experienced enough and it wasn’t her fault.
Kim Da-Eun was a fantastic addition to the show. I'm guessing her and Kreese will be the final villain duo of Cobra Kai.

Yes, this ref is ultra stupid at hiding secrets. It’s so damn obvious he’s payed, not to mention he always looks at Silver every time he didn’t count a point for Sam or count a point for Devon.
The way both Eagle Fang and Miyagi-do collaborated is such a joy to watch. Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso represented two side of the same coin in what we called "martial arts ethics", with Johnny's Eagle Fang bright colors symbolizing the assertive and aggressive approach and Daniel's Miyagi-do representing the inner balance and resilience - and when blended together I don't think they can be defeated - and of course both dojos' students were supporting Sam, like Miguel said, and Robby with his supportive gaze.
I also like how Johnny built Eagle Fang to be the anti-thesis of Cobra Kai. He still uses aggression in training, but it's not focused at defeating external enemies, but rather on the internal enemy of fear and self-doubt.

Watching this again is crazy because you can really see how the crooked calls were always made when the Sekai Taikai board members visions were obscured; 1) the kick to Devon below the shoulder, Sam's body is actually kind of blocking their vision and 2) Devon's kick to Sam thereafter; Sam parries the attack but her torso/gi are again obscuring a clear view of the strike. o.O

Devon deserves some credit for stepping in there. It was short notice, it was supposed to be Tory, not her. She stepped up and got in there against someone she knew outclassed her by miles and miles. The skill gap was just to big. Devon is still new to karate, while Sam's been doing it all her life. If we're being honest, even Tory is no match for Sam. The crooked ref in the All Valley tournament was a plot device that had to be there, otherwise, Tory beating Sam just isn't believable. Any other time they've fought, Sam always handed her her head.
3:45 Sams final point has got to be the best performance of all 5 seasons of Cobra Kai. She is absolutely flawless in everything she did. Yes, Miguel, Robby and Hawk are better lorewise. But her fighting in this point is better than anything I have ever seen Robby, Miguel or Hawk ever do.

I coach baseball and we had an umpire who refused to call strikes when the batters didn't swing so we basically did what Chozen and Daniel told Sam. We told our pitcher to leave no doubt and to aim every pitch right down the middle and throw it directly into the catcher's glove and force the umpire to call a strike whether he wanted to or not. We told our catcher to squat directly behind the plate and call 4-seam or 2-seam fastballs and nothing else; no curves, cutters, change-ups, anything. We told our defense that balls will be coming so be ready, make a play and get their pitcher off the field. In other words, force the batters to swing, trust our defense and take the game out of the umpire's hands. With pitches coming down the middle, they started swinging a lot more often. Because our pitcher threw hard and fast, they also started missing a lot more and that, of course, is a strike that the umpire has to call. They made contact, too, but our defense stepped up. Strategy worked. We won the game.
Devon couldn't even land any hit on Sam any at all...Sam is very fast and agile and full of defense as always there's no way Devon had a chance.

A round of applause for Devon. She knew she was outmatched but still went in with the full intention to win. When sam scored her first point with the leg sweep, Devon was clearly upset by it so the next time Sam did it Devon actually lifted up her leg to dodge it and then counter with a kick. Her mindset of “not giving up” “not making the same mistake twice” and “always fighting with the intention to win no matter how much stronger the opponent is” is what makes her such a great character despite not having much screen time. I don’t get why people dislike her. She never once abandoned her principles or bullied anyone. Hawk, Robee, and Tori and all done much worse things while in Cobra Kai. The only reason she was in Cobra Kai was because the dojo she was in got taken over and she stayed in Cobra Kai solely to get better at her Karate.

I wish the series showed more of Sam’s grappling training. She’s been performing throws and rolls since S2.

We finally see Tory's true colors come out, she knew that Silver had bought off the referee and was disgusted by it.
Devon is going to be pretty formidable once she learns some Miyagi Do to round out her skills. She was only ever beat by Tory (Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do from Robby) and Sam (Miyagi Do and Eagle Fang from Johnny).
That was so wrong of Kim, feeding Devon to the best fighter of the new gen.

The counter fight kick that Sam did along with the beastly yell is the definition of badass!!!! Samantha Larusso’s my all time fav since the show aired, and Mary’s skill with her training had came a long way too.
