Solo On The World's Longest Train Journey 🇷🇺

🇷🇺The Trans-Siberian train, who hasn't dreamt of taking it across this leviathan of a country? Well not me to be honest but somehow I decided to override my dread of endless train rides to show you what nobody has shown you before. The real Trans-Siberian. This isn't a package tour, nothing is booked in advance. It's just me on my own hopping from town to town on whichever train is leaving next, meeting locals, drinking vodka, avoiding snorers, exploring Russia. Join me!

For all the talk about how such and such place is full of the nicest people ever...that's not always true. People are people. He having a camera certainly helps keep interactions polite and, frankly, help keep him a bit more safe than he'd be otherwise. Anyway, it's refreshing to see the occasional person just not in the mood to be filmed, outright dislike him and/or mistake his intentions/words. He has certainly had some not-so-pleasant interactions because he's on planet Earth. I like seeing them, tbh. It shows that the videos aren't totally curated BS.

My dad was very ill and I thought he was going to die. I cannot express how stress relieving and calming your videos were to me at that time. I managed to binge watch a ton of videos in the 4 weeks that my dad was ill and they kept me sane and even managed to keep a smile on my face. Anyway, my dad pulled through and we are all good. Thank you for helping me through a very rough time in my life and thank you again for providing excellent content still. All the best on your travels and please keep them coming. EDIT: Thank you to all the likes and replies. I really didn't expect that. You're all awesome :)

  • Acctially Perm is named after the word Parma, wich in a native people's language means "The far lands".The city was founded by Peter the Great in 1723. In 1940's the city was renamed in Molotov for the sake of the Soviet Secretary. But after Stalin's death it was again named Perm. It is one of the largest city in Russia. More than 1 million people live here.Perm - 2 is the city's railway station, and Perm -1 is the river station. Also we have the museam of modern art wich is named Perm - M but the letter M is like sitting on its back and it's kinda simular to 3, so this museam is Perm-3.The source: Perm is my home town :D

There's so much "nothing" around there just outside of the city itself... I can go out with the car and friends on a Saturday evening and go to Milan, Varese, Gallarate, Busto Arsizio etc, all of these big centers (and a myriad of small ones) are less than 30km around me. And we stopped in a middle of nowhere for a a switch of a main part (since they are electric ones)! • I actually believed that line about the '70's hair style. The name Perm is of Uralic etymology (Komi-Permyak: Перем, Perem; Komi: Перым, Perym). Komi is a member of the Permic branch of the Uralic languages, which is also named for Perm. In Finnish and Vepsian perämaa means "far-away land"; similarly, in Hungarian perem means "edge" or "verge". The geologic period of the Permian takes its name from the toponym.

  • Mr Bald, I've been an avid viewer of your channel for a couple of years now. I've gotta tell you man, your enthusiasm is absolutely infectious, impressive knowledge shared in a light hearted yet insightful manner. Love your passion and respect for all things Soviet and the way you interact with all the colourful characters you encounter on your travels. Thank you so much for beaming your vlogs into my living room, feels like I'm there experiencing history and the various cultures from my armchair with you. Keep up the fantastic work brother, fellow Brit 👍 🇷🇺
