I've had a lot of trouble working with that first foam you used (the really soft one). I bought like 4 different knives, and even tried a surgical knife and I still couldn't cut it well. This video helped me so much! Thanks :)
The softer the foam the harder it is to cut for sure!! We also struggle with soft foam sometimes XD i'm really glad that this helped a bit! :3
Try a hot wire
Watching you cut the foam is very satisfying
I love the my hero academia poster in the background
Same ^^
My jaw was on the floor the whole time watching this, I feel like the game just changed for me. I’m pumped!! 😤✨ Thanks, guys!! 🥰
I have been using EVA for custom shelving in my cube organizers. One tip I can offer if you mess up a cut and end up with jagged lines or angles on your edges is to use a combination of soft sanding brushes (not the drum sanders!) and rubber or wool polishing tips with a Dremel at 15000rpm. The sanding brush will cleanly sand the edge with much better precision than the drum sanders since it's a mesh fiber. And the rubber polishing tip will friction melt large abnormalities, while the wool polishing tip will friction melt smaller ones. This takes a few seconds, but it allows you to fix messed up cuts and conserve materials.
Ohhh… 😮 Eva shelving. Nice idea!
thank you SO much for these tips!! I am still intimidated by foam for some odd reason even though I've seen a ton of tutorials about using it and have used it in the past! hope to make some really cool armor one day that looks as clean as the work you guys do!
Thank you ! I discovered your Instagram cosplay page by a friend and your ycosplays are amazing ! I was really impressed by your Armored Peach cosplay and it's extremely sweet and nice to know that you are ready to help beginners in the domain with foam ! Thank you !!
This is so helpful for beginners! Simple tips that aren't overwhelming. Thank you so much!
1:10 I thought this was going to be the dull cut at first. A little tip I can provide here is when starting the cut don't just drag it through like it's shown here. You're damaging the beginning of the cut. Instead saw into the very edge to get it started then pull it through.
I actually never thought about using gesso to fill seams! Thats an awesome idea!
So, these "tips" go far beyond cosplay, these are helpful in engineering foam solutions, shoe manufacturing, toys, building products, other consumer products so on. This is huge, because this has a tremendous amount of knowledge in a short 5 minute video. Like seriously... engineers and manufacturing facilities would pay good money to learn this stuff. THANK YOU!!!
I love a good EVA foam tutorial and this might be the most information packed one I've ever come across. Going into faves.
Excellent video! I've been wanting to get into this for a while, and never knew where to start. This gives me more confidence to get out there and try it!
I am glad I took the time to find these vids. I was about to rush into a big rookie mistake! Thank you so much, and Stay Awesome!
Where have you been all my life? All my casual research on foam armor always made it feel like rocket science. Thank you for a very comprehensive jumping off point ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us.
This is such a great starting point for beginners in EVA! I make costumes for a living and do a ton of leatherwork, but EVA is sooo new and foreign to me. Thank you so much! *smashes the subscribe button & rings the bell*
OMG Thank you for this. I have been throwing around the idea of using foam, but I am more at ease seeing this! CHEERS!
Thank you! I really needed something simple yet informative!
Using contact glue, flexible acrylic primer, and the recommendation of using modge podge were really great. Thank you!
This was a MAJOR help!!! Great job!😊

Great video! subscribed! I am new in the cosplay scene and I will try your tips! So far our team leader is a crafter, like you, and he does all the work. But I would like also other costumes, like a Mandalorian or so.
Great video!
I really appeciate the video. I hope that one day a will be able to go out of my house, buy eva foam and try all the tips!!!! :)
Thanks for these tips, I'm working with very thin foam and need to harden it slightly, would a heat gun do the job? Or should I stick to layering it with pva and modge podge?
Cool, thanks. I’m looking to make a Viking battle axe and you helped me out with figuring out where to start. I got myself an Axe handle from Home Depot, how would I be able to make sure the EVA sticks? I’m a complete newbie to this stuff and this would be the first thing I’m actually gonna make something properly. My last project was a shield made out of a Garbage can lid
Thanks for this :)
Nice video, it is helpful!
Very helpful
Thank you. 🏹🤠👍

Hello, how are you, where can I buy eva rubber or foam?
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL!! What thickness would you recommend for lightwieght feathers?
AWESOME
Kinpatsu cosplay girls like you are crazy 😉 i love your work 🥰
Thank you for the video . Can this sealing make it temperature and fire resistant
I love u so much 💕 yours cosplay are wonderful 👏👏👏
Eu amei! I love it!
Hi Taylor! I really admire your work! I wanted to ask you, I primed Eva foam with glue and painted it and didn't like the result. Now I bought a heatgun and plastidip to make the results better BUT I don't know how to smooth the surface that was already primed. I don't wanna waste all the work I did cutting and gluing. Can I sand it? Is there a way to disolve it? Will the heat gun and plastidip all over the paint cover everything again so I can paint? Thank you so much for this tutorial and your beautiful cosplays
Wow dube That's videos content about eva foam it's a very Amazing wow ❤
I can use my gesso on foam? Finally, something else I can use my gesso on besides canvases! (I say as I put gesso on every surface to see if it will stick and let me paint on it.)
Shout out to the South African products and accent , where did you guys buy foam in SA?
"Kinpatsu video" instalike and see the full video! You are my muse of cosplay!
Thank you so much!! T^T 💖
I really liked your video
You are an amazing cosplayer! I’m excited to see the results of your goblin slayer cosplay! For Eric! Twyla!
Thanks for helpful advice. Please, what is the Contact glue? (composition, type) I am struggling to find proper substitute.
HI taylor! I'm currently working on a KDA Ahri cosplay, and the tails are quite confusing me, I'm stuff too chose 2 different types of foam for the tail! I was wondering if High or Low density would be better?
Have you found that heat sealing is better done before or after shaping, or does it matter at all? Thanks!
them was some good tips
nice
girl i love you so much :D your videos are so awaesome, also i see them 3 years later. thank you for your content and work!
damn 5 minutes and most of my cosplay prop problems solved.. im saving this video for future usage
What adhesive do you recommend for people who are sensitive to fumes and don't have a well-ventilated workshop?
Hi! I was wondering what I should use for armor I’m making. Would this be better or pvc sheet foam? Thanks!
Registration marks are a game changer too
it is a good video for the beginner of making their cosplay that like me, but I confused by how to print the EVA foam and what is the best ways to print the colour?
I am planning on making a Goblin Slayer cosplay someday with this stuff and trying to research it before actually doing it. Since this foam is so based on heat would heating up the knife help you to cut it better? Or does this have some other side effects?
