3 men missing after Mexico surfing trip | Morning in America
An American and two Australians have been missing for nearly one week after taking a surfing trip in Mexico. Jack Carter Rhoad, Jake Robinson and Callum Robinson were last seen April 27. Their last known location was San Miguel Beach, based on a picture posted to Instagram. Three people have been arrested, according to Mexican police.

Stop going to Mexico. How many times does the US have to tell the Citizens not to go there? How many news reports do you have to watch of US travelers in Mexico being extorted for millions just to get medical care when injured in Mexico? Just recently seen a video about a guy who came back paralyzed. He also had multiple infections from the unsanitary Hospital when they tried seeking help.

I went to mexico once when i was in my 20s. Was detained by la policia driven to the outskirts of town, basically the desert, robbed of my belongings and released to walk back. I consider myself one of the lucky ones. Never been back since.

My family used to go to Mexico for a Christmas gathering each year. I always refused to go. Then the resort they used to go to was shot up by cartel gunmen one summer who arrived by boats. Needless to say, my family no longer goes to Mexico.

B/c, as a former surfer, it is not enjoyable to sit out in a lineup w/50 other dudes, most who practice little etiquette (could never figure out why a few people got a disproportionate amount of waves; what's w/the entitlement?). Find uncrowded breaks, and it's like, "You wanna go on this one? No you go, I got the last one." But these days, Mexico is a no-go. I went surfing in Baja in the 70s and fishing on the Sea of Cortez in the 80s, and the locals were very welcoming. Wouldn't do that again. It's too bad. Great memories of rural Baja, the land and the people.

Look at all of the other missing people who travelled to Mexico who went missing. Another two young guys went missing years ago, tragically killed with their bodies found in their burnt out vehicle. Why go to Mexico.
I grew up in california and we used to go to baja and san felipe every single year But that was in the eighties and nineties when stuff was a lot safer. God bring these boys home.
Likewise, we use to go to TJ just to buy cheap Kaihlua (sp). Sometimes Rosarito for lobster and a few time to Ensenada for Husongs (sp).....but like you, that was in the 80's...much different world today
I did the same in the 80's, loved shopping for bargains in TJ. Ensenada & Rosarito beach beautiful. Sometimes we would go on deep sea fishing trips, poles provided. The guys on the boat would clean your fish for you. So many nice, friendly people there. Heartbreaking what has happened to Mexico, I would be afraid to go now.

As an American who spends significant time in Mexico City, I find these comments about how it's dangerous to go to Mexico ironic. Mexicans say the exact same thing about avoiding American cities like Chicago or Philadelphia. People in glass houses....

@@C0mm0nS3ns3 I lived in San Juan Capistrano. Im a PADI dive instructor and I use to visit Baja once a month in the 90’s to certify divers. I stayed in Rosarito, Ensenada, and Campo La Chorea. And I had my gear stolen from hotel California. I spent my honeymoon in Cancun, and vacationed in Cabo San Lucas. I probably been to more cities in Mexico than you ever have in your short time on this earth. Thanks though.

3 people are detained related to the investigation, according to the State DA. If they were informants wouldn’t they inform and be released? They are talking. They’re probably safer in custody.

In any country, if you’re in the middle of nowhere, with hard drugs, you’re in danger Mexico has wonderful places. Jalisco, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Yucatán are quiet and respectful of tourism. It is worth visiting them

Something similar happened about 10-15 years ago. Some surfers thought it was wise to drive through Sinaloa, Mexico. Only to be found dead. Just stay away.

Two groups of my friends (all women) went to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) from Arizona in April at separate times for five days each and had a great time, arriving home safely. That said, I turned down the invitation. Just fifteen years ago, I wouldn't have hesitated.

This is not good. I can tell by looking at these three men that they’re no longer here anymore :( They all theee im sure we’re targeting . U have to remember they were probabaly targets. . Organ harvesting and ornvictims of robbery and they got rid of them . I grew up in San Diego , I stopped going down to TJ a while ago. I went to school with this guy that ended up getting kidnapped when I was getting my cosmetology license at Paul Mitchell. We had a guy that went down there and he never showed up for school the whole next week and then he showed up like on the third week or the second week and he told us his crazy story about how he was kidnapped in Mexico. They put him in the back of the truck and he had to literally jump out of the truck and he said he hid in a hole for almost 2 days before he could escape and then he finally came back but he was all beat up and he was lucky to be alive and also I’m sorry, but if you’re white and you go down there, you need to go down there looking poor you can’t go down there looking like you have money or you’re privileged especially right now I never wear jewelry down there. I just put on a hoodie when I used to go don’t act like you’re better than them don’t go down there trying to white wash anything that’s not the point they are our allies. We have to remember that but you Gotta be respectful when you’re down there and you have to know how to present yourself and definitely don’t be flashing your money around or anything.

When i was in my 20's in the early 2000's i went to Rocky point and Tijuana amd never had problems. I consider myself extremely lucky. It was always in the back of mind to kinda have situational awareness but there were many times being drunk that it could a gone sideways

Mexico is a very big place and there are some fantastic places/areas here.. It is no different than the U.S. as there are plenty of places in the U.S. I would not get near.. I use to live in New Orleans a few decades ago, I wouldn't set foot there now.. I live in a very nice area of Mexico . I would not hang out in the area the missing 3 were in, Obvious known bad area and I hope the best for them.. With that said I don't mind seeing all the negative comments here as it will help keep the North of the border types from coming down here.. That's fine by me..;) and I purposely did not say where it is I live exactly. Less U.S. and Canadian's the better.. So please, take heed, stay away. Thank you..
