I like he effects each gem has, they sound very valid and balanced to me! Def will be using this in future games! Wonderful video

Okay... now THIS is epic advice, absolutely love the suggestion and advanced version of 'inspiration'. Thanks for sharing! No sponsor links? Definitely could have made a bit extra by linking those recommended items!

Thanks! And yeah, being a relatively new channel I'm still setting up all of those things like affiliate marketing. I appreciate the reminder! ☺

My Inspiration variant involves a deck of about 40 cards from which each player gets one randomly at the start of the session. Each card gives some sort of advantage or ability (no two are the same) - anything from an added (or subtracted) die to a specific d20 roll to increasing/decreasing a target creatures movement by 5', or whatever. If a player does something inspiration-worthy during the session, they draw another card, and there's no limit to the number of cards they can collect. Considering that not all cards work for all players (like a caster usually doesn't need a card that gives them +die to a melee attack), the cards have a second purpose: collect 3 and turn them in for a "minor" magic item. Minor meaning that's it's something cool for role-play, but generally doesn't provide a practical bonus in combat.

Nice variant for inspiration, which always felt like an afterthought in DnD. Yours is closer to SWADE's benny system, and that's a good thing. In that theme, you may consider adding a gem type that refills a spell slot up to X level.

I love this idea! And it ties in neatly with my plan to offer players Faustian bargains -- I can give them inspiration and other buffs, but in return they give me the opportunity to give those same buffs to their enemies. It'd give players an even bigger reason to hoard their wealth!
