The only people who can truly deserve Mob is the Muscle Improvement Club
Facts they accepted him and supported him no matter how weak he was also reigen
Fr they're my favorites from this series, they're just so genuinely supportive of their peers and are willing to give anyone a chance, even the seemingly hopeless anemic kid, even the impolite delinquent. It's so nice to see positive masculinity and genuine camaraderie between friends depicted in media for once
I call them the M.O.B.-Improvementclub
@@hungrycharmy3876 eh, Reigen probably doesn't deserve him quite so much, until later on.
yeah at first i thought they were gonna be the typical jocks but they really turned into Mobs big brothers and its so wholesome
The fact that he tries to pick up all of those pieces by hand instead of easily with his powers is so meaningful. This anime was a gem.
Mob always tries to put in the effort in all his actions, it's so easy to do everything with his powers but he would rather put in the effort and labor. What's life if everything comes to you easily?
I came back and was thinking about this! Like, he tried to do it without his powers cause... He doesn't want to be defined by them. He also keeps it hidden for that reason But he showed Emi his powers and decided it's okay to use them to accomplish things you normally wouldn't as long as you don't use it selfishly and help those around you. Maybe reading into it too much but that's what I felt watching this scene again.
@@daniell.3395 a series like Mob is so well written with subtle subtexts that I don’t think what you’re saying is a stretch to be honest.
Yeah his whole thing is he never wanted to live an easy life with his powers but be accepted as a normal human like everyone else
you didn't understand mob personality at all huh
I love that Mob Psycho 100 is NOT a story about an overpowered esper beating the crap out of every bully he meets, but rather, it's about a young man trying to overcome his own mental and emotional barriers in order to be more true to himself. In the end, isn't that what we all strive to be like?
You got a nice point dude
I love how much its not just a rehash of one punch man
You said something deep and beautiful
@@pauldeasy4531 And even OPM is more about Saitama dealing with not getting any satisfaction out of being a hero. He isn't loved or appreciated, in fact the general public kinda hates him. He's the most powerful man on Earth, and could easily use his power for personal gain, but he still chooses to do the right thing. Both him and Mob are some of my favorite protagonists ever!
Check out the latest chapters tho.(im fan of the slice of life in Mob too).
"I happen to be an esper" I love mob. Even though he's one of the most powerful beings on the planet, to him it's just a trait that barely defines him. Mob is more defined by his goals, faults, and bottomless heart.
It's really the whole point of his character; Mob is a meek, socially/emotionally stunted middle-school kid, who, as he puts it just "happen(s) to be an esper." And that's the aspect the show focuses on it terms of its plot and development.
Thats one of the things reigen teaches him, speed, streng, psychic power, are all traits given by luck, but its about how you improve and not about abusing your gifts
It’s kind of the whole message of the show. You are never born special. It is through hard work and actions that someone becomes “a genuinely good person.”
Technically ??? is the strongest being on the planet followed by Toichiro at max output then Mob 100% not far behind
@@Lord_have_mercy_on_me_a_sinner Can you explain that to me? Isn't ??? Mob's repressed negative feelings and doubts? Aren't Mob and ??? one and the same? Or, have I missed something?
This felt like real bullying not some cliche pushing over the new kid for giggles. These characters felt real
Trueeee
I think the point a lot of people miss with Bullies probably due to their own experiences with them, is that a bully doesnt do things that go so far they can't consider them selves the good guy anymore, they find creative ways to put others down without really doing anything that could be brought back to them. Being content with being purely awful isn't something a lot of people can live with so they feed themselves a story about how the kid deserved to be bullied, or how it was just a two sided interaction where both people were rude. I always prefer seeing these kinds of depictions rather than just cartoonishly evil bullies you often see.
@@epicbruhmoment6985 This is a perfect description. Very, very rarely do people see themselves as the villain in their own head. Even serial killers are known to rationalize and excuse their actions. This is why school bullying is far more insidious and difficult to stop in reality as opposed to exaggerated examples in fiction. They border the line on what is acceptable and subtly cause harm, usually using social dynamics and ostracizing. And in their minds, they are not a bully, some likely don't even fully comprehend the damage they naturally cause with their behaviour.
@@epicbruhmoment6985 Yeah I think most writers tend to use their own experiences and their own views on that experience when they write about characters getting bullied and the bullies themselves. An example off the top of my head would be Harry Potter. In my opinion almost all the bullies and bad guys in it are 1 dimensional and comically evil and when they aren't they tend not to make too much sense or be as sympathetic as JK Rowling intended. No idea if ONE ever got bullied but if he did I think his writing shows that he probably thought a lot about who the bullies were and why they did what they did.
@@epicbruhmoment6985 I wish i could save this. Please never delete it. It gave me so much insight.
I think alot of people missed the point of this ending scene/relationship. The girl never falls in love with kageyama, because like he says, why would she just because he has psychic powers? The whole show is the antithesis to typical contemporary shonen where the main character who's always a guy gets several different girls all over him JUST because of his special powers/skill/Destiny/whatever. They never even really actually liked each other, beyond mob feeling moderately excited that someone showed him interest. No substantial romantic feelings ever developed. In place of that though, they both taught eachother how important and valid moments of real friendship are. She's the same as mob, where instead of psychic powers, she's a good writer. The show places repeated emphasis that you having a specific skill/power doesnt make you more important or deserving than anyone else. Mob is neither more or less deserving/valuable than her and vice versa. Therefore Mob showcasing his powers is both vulnerable for him, but also just....him helping out a friend. That's it. The same way she opened up and let him read her novel & he experience that sort of plain, but necessary kind of vulnerability we all need from our friends. They don't owe one another anything more for the other's fondness & friendship except for their own fondness & friendship. In one episode, this show throttled an entire genre of anime. Lmao
Amen ONE is a genius writer. Thanks for pointing this out
yea, while it's nice to see people wanting Mob to be in a relationship and rooting for that, that's...kinda missing the point? you hit the nail on the head dunno if you've read the manga, but this comes up later on too, and it's great that ONE wrote it the way he did
To be fair, the show goes out of its way to defy genre norms at every turn, but it does it so naturally. It feels like One is writing his own genre with Mob, so far outside of the shounen genre that he has to lead you on with familiar tropes, just to emphasize how different it is, and how it doesn't need to rely on them for story or plot devices. He's a genius.
i ship them as friends. It's so good to tell young boys and girls that being friends is just as ok as being together. You don't have to have some weird harem to be happy.
ah, i would have loved that she fallen a bit in love mostly because of who he is rather than what he can do... let's be real, that what did mob was more sweet than impresive, meaby she at least could like his sweet and caring side
This is why the anime adaptation of Mob Psycho is so good, it takes moments that are done in a few panels and and amplifies the true meaning and emotion through animation, pacing and soundtrack to convey One’s intentions. This is how anime should be

While everyone is commenying about Mob's and Emi's kinnship, I'd just like to comment about how well Emi handles the situation here. When she goes to help Mob, she doesn't yell or cry at the bullies like most anime girls. She just smiles and tells her friends they can go without her. It's a mature dismissal, but they can still be friends after this. They have no reason to shut her out as she doesn't go against them in anyway. The dismissal makes them feel a little confused, embarassed and maybe little childish too. But it's suddle, so they can't point it out. So they go, without making a bigger scene and fools of themselves. They probably will think about that moment by themselves. Emi shows here that she does have a backbone. But she doesn't have to lash out to show it. And I really like that.

hansel gretel spoilers?
I definitely relate to Mob on a very personal level and I'm sure a lot of people do as well. With the exception of the psychic trait, he's just like everyone else: an average person who's troubled and also trying to figure out how to properly express his emotions as well as other ordinary and mundane aspects in life. Romance, social cues, academics, aspirations, dreams and physical fitness, we all struggle with these things one way or another and I think it's beautiful how ONE wrote Mob to be not just a typical overpowered shonen protagonist, but a relatable one who wants to connect properly with everyone else and this scene truly shows the growth and maturity he's developed since Season 1. Great episode to start the season and New Year.
Hell yeah! More than anything Mob is also just such a good person. He's not jaded, he sees the good in everyone around him. He might be naive, but he immediately feels bad for not telling the truth and he while he doesn't have a lot of self-confidence, he sees everyone else as genuine people - even if his held back emotions make it difficult for others to see that.
I mean I think it’s one of the best anime/manga ever for this purpose (not just this purpose, but partially) Everything in the show can and will relate to you in a certain way, wether it be Reigans struggles to find himself, or what truly matters to him, mobs ambition to become a more like able, social able person, (spoilers for manga) dimples hidden kindness towards mob and how his main ambition wasn’t to rule the world, but to just make a friend (spoilers over). And how all of this empathy and general human goodness is shrouded in an incredible narrative and astonishing action, it really just shows how phenomenal this show, and ones writing, really is.

This is the moment Mob Psycho went from a masterpiece to a treasure
The most fascinating thing about this show is that Mob is the most powerful being on the planet, and yet, he is constantly struggling to be better than he is. He, a veritable god on Earth, was bullied by other people and let others be bullied because he allowed it to happen. He didn't trust himself, or his desires, because he knew he could or would hurt someone with his power. In this scene, we see him take a stand against his own weakness, and overcome it not with anger, but with rationale and willpower. This is a brilliant set of stories.

I love Mob. In other shounen, when there are super kind characters, it feels kind of forced. Mob is a great exception though. Mob's kindness feels genuine.
I think that Mob's kindness feels so real and impactful because we've also seen his flaws - how he can get angry or conflicted or frustrated, how he can hurt people. That it's because he knows he can hurt people that he tries so hard to overcome that and be the best person he can be to others. So many cinnamon roll protagonists' flaws are limited to 'they're too selfless' or 'they're starting off weak', and while those can certainly be interesting concepts to explore, that exploration has to go deeper into how it truly is a problem to be believable, imo. (Like how Mob has those flaws as well, but since they manifest in repression that in turn branches off and creates conflict and builds onto so many aspects of his history and personality, pointing out those simple 2 flaws would barely scratch the surface of what's going on behind his character.)
this scene was everything... it belong in a museum
for a meta take you could see Emi as not just a writer, but THE Writer. Artist stand-in or an archytype, someone who creates worlds and has god-like powers in the fiction they create. Perhaps Mob as a character helped ONE take his creative feelings seriously too? enacting what feels important... just a thought.

I think that this scene, with all of the context, is my favorite scene from any anime or other media period. Everything about it oozes with pure emotion and you can really tell how everyone involved in the series put their all into it.
Tier S animation, camera angles, story.
In the end, Mob's story isn't really about his powers but about a young man trying to find his way in this world, a truly relatable tale.
Still my favorite moment of this season even though it's been like 2 months since this aired. It's so heartwarming. Mob is best boy.
Mob still makes me tear up after all this time. This is a good, honest, genuine man; the kind we should all aspire to be. Time to go rewatch the first and second seasons before watching the third one!
This is what I call a romantic friendship, but it has been mainly demonstrated with the Muscle Improvement Club and their positive masculinity towards Mob and other members they meet. You don’t need to be dating to give love.
One of my favorite moments from the anime
It's a little sad we don't really get to see Emi and Mob hang out as friends after this, but it was a really good scene showcasing the importance of being genuine.
Mob got that esper rizz
Never has the start of a second season so thoroughly grabbed me. I can’t put into words how moved I was by this show. It’s proof again that anime can tell new, complex, and beautiful stories.
I can't even tell with words the beauty of this scene.
i know opm is suppose to be a satire of shounen, but i love the serious, subtle elements of that in mp100. mob greatly influences the lives of at least four girls, but they never become love interests. its a nice aversion to the typical anime "you passed me a pencil in 3rd grade, protag-kun. ive loved you ever since" trope where the hero is rewarded just for being a decent person.
"You see, I happen to be an Esper" My favorite line in Mob Psycho. It summarizes the show perfectly. If anything, Mob Psycho is about a normal middle school kid trying to find out what it means to have emotions that just so happens to have psychic powers, and not a show about a powerful Esper trying to find said emotions.
it's been almost two months and it's still fucking fire. and thinking that this season was fucking amazing starting off, i wasn't all prepared for how captivating the rest of the series would be. especially when the peak and feels hit at episode 7. "i knew from the very beginning..."
by far my favorite scene in all of fiction, so beautiful man
this actually felt like real bullying. the kind of gradual increase in intensity that makes u go "wait something's not right but i'll feel like I'm being overdramatic if I say anything"
Every time I come back to this scene, it brings me to tears. The soundtrack, the visuals, the heart, it’s all so wonderfully overwhelming. This show means the world to me.
0:45 this part got me hard - Mob is such a great character
