@@nofacedgoldfish6216Similar to how Venom has an addicting effect on it's hosts, it has an unhealthy obsession with both Peter and Eddie (not the movie version, other versions). It keeps them alive longer rather than completely draining them, and sometimes just keeps them alive forever because it doesn't want to see them die (ex. One venom story is literally about how Eddie is dying, and Venom decides to keep him alive far, far past his death date, with Eddie eventually convincing it to let him rest, with them sharing one last goodbye).

In the novelization by Peter David, it was ramped up more. When Spidey stabbed Venom he did it so it wouldn't mortally wound Eddie, only for Venom to reply "There is no Eddie" as he reveals Eddie's skull.

This movie is just like Superman 3 with Superman beginning to get too comfortable with himself and having to later fight himself in that junkyard scene. That in itself could be a metaphor for men getting too cocky and later begin to become abusive to their friends and loved ones. Like alcohol. Lois Lane wasn't in that movie but had a relative be a stand in for her who had a son who believed in Superman still being good. Spider-Man 3 I think sends a similar message I'll be it, a little bit more violently giving Peter's past and witnessing his uncle's murder. Superman just gets poisoned by too much kryptonite making him act weird in his third movie.

Wasn't originally the symbiote like true neutral? If I remember correctly the symbiote (in most iterations) is not the "bad guy" it acts the way it does because it thinks it is helping its host. It only becomes "bad" after bonding with violent individuals that shift the way it acts.

Wasn’t he supposed to like pull his entire skeleton out of the symbiote and then, Venom turns around and says, “Never wound… what you CAN’T KILL.” But, like in a demonic symbiote voice and then he like wraps Peter around, and Peter uses the metal poles to make sounds to hurt the symbiote. It's pretty much what was described in this short, Peter stabs Venom, Venom reveals Eddie is just a skeleton, Venom leaves Eddie and latches onto Peter, Peter webs and pulls a bunch of metals rods down, the metal rods pierce Eddie's skull and make a loud noise, Peter grabs and throws a pumpkin bomb at Venom.

Peter never uses a pumpkin bomb in the novel (I have a copy) he pulls down a container filled with hundreds of thin metal rods that all clanging and clashing together pierce the symbiote and eventually lead to it evaporating. Peter even swears as the last of it disappears he can still hear the symbiote yelling in protest

The 90s Animated Show and this Movie have re-contextualize the Symbiotes, the alien wasn't suppose to be evil from the start till Peter made the realization of it being alive and rejected it. The comics would have later made the emphasis on Venom slowly killing Eddie, but man imagine the movie took the scrapped idea instead, the Symbiotes would be VERY different today if that idea was introduced to the public sooner.

Spider man killing him is probably why it was removed. They had doc oc drown and green goblin stabbed by his own glider. So I don’t think it would have been that gruesome in comparison. Just some bones. But yeah having Peter stab him is probably why it was removed. I think the whole metal trap was a lot more creative of a way to defeat venom too. And showed off one of venoms weaknesses.

What I find really cool/terrifying is that Venom not only consumed Eddie, but also contorted his body, as can be seen with Eddie’s skull having much angrier-looking sockets and sharp teeth. Just adds a body horror element that I think not only brings something cool to the character but also goes along with the drug abuse analogy. The symbiote wasn’t just twisting Eddie’s mental state, but physical state as well.

I can think of several main reasons as to why this death scene didn't make it into the final film I think the first and most likely explanation is that they simply wanted to keep the PG-13 rating death scene made it into the film it would probably be too gruesome for certain children so that's why they decided to take it out and replace it with the final Venom death scene that we have right now

It definitely would've been fitting for Raimi's horror tendencies.
Except that Peter had the symbiote for a lot longer, and is perfectly fine. Also, we already see Eddie perfectly fine in an earlier scene of the fight(when he has MJ captured).

@@nofacedgoldfish6216Similar to how Venom has an addicting effect on it's hosts, it has an unhealthy obsession with both Peter and Eddie (not the movie version, other versions). It keeps them alive longer rather than completely draining them, and sometimes just keeps them alive forever because it doesn't want to see them die (ex. One venom story is literally about how Eddie is dying, and Venom decides to keep him alive far, far past his death date, with Eddie eventually convincing it to let him rest, with them sharing one last goodbye).

I believe out of the rage he had for spiderman he completely absorbed Eddie because he hadn't eaten people and required sustenance in the weeks it took to form his plan with the strength he was gonna need. In the novelization by Peter David, it was ramped up more. When Spidey stabbed Venom he did it so it wouldn't mortally wound Eddie, only for Venom to reply "There is no Eddie" as he reveals Eddie's skull.

All three of those Peter David novelizations are just fantastic on their own and are perfect companions to the films.

Eddie dying because he can't let go of the symbiote is perfect for the whole, symbiote is an analogy for substance abuse in spiderman thing. They come to depend on it. They hurt people they love, they think they're better with it. Until they realize that they're loosing themselves and get rid of it. Or in Eddie's case. Completely loose themselves. Symbiote has always been a great analogy for substance abuse of any kind so I think Eddie's current death is fitting. Bro just couldn't let go until it was too late

This movie is just like Superman 3 with Superman beginning to get too comfortable with himself and having to later fight himself in that junkyard scene. That in itself could be a metaphor for men getting too cocky and later begin to become abusive to their friends and loved ones. Like alcohol. Lois Lane wasn't in that movie but had a relative be a stand in for her who had a son who believed in Superman still being good. Spider-Man 3 I think sends a similar message I'll be it, a little bit more violently giving Peter's past and witnessing his uncle's murder. Superman just gets poisoned by too much kryptonite making him act weird in his third movie.

Wasn't originally the symbiote like true neutral? If I remember correctly the symbiote (in most iterations) is not the "bad guy" it acts the way it does because it thinks it is helping its host. It only becomes "bad" after bonding with violent individuals that shift the way it acts.

I think the writers were trying to show that the suit had already started consuming him, but once they decided to change the story to him not being eaten by the symbiote, they changed it to him still having his clothes, but forgot to change the already recorded scenes of him being seemingly naked inside the suit, or they hoped no one would notice
I like the one we got because it shows how easily anyone can fall and be consumed by hate, greed, or drugs and there are some that do have the strength to break away and there are some that aren't as lucky and get consumed by it and will literally risk their lives for that rush.

Wasn’t he supposed to like pull his entire skeleton out of the symbiote and then, Venom turns around and says, “Never wound… what you CAN’T KILL.” But, like in a demonic symbiote voice and then he like wraps Peter around, and Peter uses the metal poles to make sounds to hurt the symbiote. Then, that’s when he used the pumpkin bomb to destroy it.
Yes and Eddie’s skeleton was deformed as if venom had basically fused with his physical body down to the bone pretty much indicating that Eddie no longer existed and was just a symbiote using a human skeleton for structure and disguise when needed
It's pretty much what was described in this short, Peter stabs Venom, Venom reveals Eddie is just a skeleton, Venom leaves Eddie and latches onto Peter, Peter webs and pulls a bunch of metals rods down, the metal rods pierce Eddie's skull and make a loud noise, Peter grabs and throws a pumpkin bomb at Venom.

Peter never uses a pumpkin bomb in the novel (I have a copy) he pulls down a container filled with hundreds of thin metal rods that all clanging and clashing together pierce the symbiote and eventually lead to it evaporating. Peter even swears as the last of it disappears he can still hear the symbiote yelling in protest
That monster Venom look is still ONE of the coolest designs i've seen. They nailed the symbiote CGI and that final look is fucking amazing.
I love the movie one more just because it screams of Raimi saying "fuck this guy, he is NEVER coming back"

He was sooooo mad Sony said they wanted the fan choice of villain for a third movie. Yeah, I lost some respect for Raimi to be mature after that.
It’s a call back to the original comics where Reed Richards claims that the symbiote would eventually consume Peter and in a What If comic we see just that.
Nah, the one we got is better since it matches the themes more. He tries to save Eddie, but he jumps back to the symbiote, showing how self-destructive addiction can be quite literally.

The 90s Animated Show and this Movie have re-contextualize the Symbiotes, the alien wasn't suppose to be evil from the start till Peter made the realization of it being alive and rejected it. The comics would have later made the emphasis on Venom slowly killing Eddie, but man imagine the movie took the scrapped idea instead, the Symbiotes would be VERY different today if that idea was introduced to the public sooner.

If you look carefully when Eddie and venom explode you can see a skeleton so they kept some of the skeletal models in the movie just not for very long

I guess they were not just Color-wise inspired by Ultimate Spider-Man, because some Concept have a Purple Venom Yes the Ultimate Spider-Man version (Comics and Game) of Venom was consuming/eating the Host and anyone else Peter and other Super Humans being the only ones who wouldn't get Consumed by wearing it, which I think was then retconned Anyways, yeah
It would be so fitting both for Raimi and the tone of this film, but I like what they went with. Not only does it let us see Eddie interact with Peter one last time, but it shows us that it wasn't the symbiote talking when he said he liked being evil

Spider man killing him is probably why it was removed. They had doc oc drown and green goblin stabbed by his own glider. So I don’t think it would have been that gruesome in comparison. Just some bones. But yeah having Peter stab him is probably why it was removed. I think the whole metal trap was a lot more creative of a way to defeat venom too. And showed off one of venoms weaknesses.

To this day I still think that the Venom Fight of this Movie was way better and cooler and is a Unique and Badass Way to Defeat Venom.

I heard there was a test screening of Venom's OG death, so some people actually saw it but in the end of course it was changed due to kids saying it was too scary which is a load of bs. It sounded awesome and should of at least made it into the deleted scenes section.

I liked how it ended originally. Eddie being separated momentarily then choosing to immediately bond with the symbiote again showed how addicted he was to the dark power.

I like the one we got because it showed the connection Eddie had with Venom and that he couldn't live without them.
The 2nd one sounds more like Raimi’s style but the one we have now is more inline with Eddie and Venom in comics, especially since venom keeps Eddie alive from his cancer in comics.
On one hand, that is by far the most Raimi shit I've ever heard, and damn does that sound terrifying... On the other hand. At least the way we got it involved using the Symbiotes Weakness against it, doesn't contradict Comic Venom... well, as much anyway.
It was somewhat implemented when peter throws the bomb at venom and eddie jumps in if you pause at the right time you see eddies skeleton and him getting blow to almost nothing
It makes Venom more parasitic, which makes sense in the context of the comic since the Symbiote was actively feeding on the adrenaline produced by Peter Parker. In fact, it often would take over his own body when he was sleeping, and would control his body, causing him to massively oversleep
Should have been a mix, the cool splitting apart thing with the sounds but as he’s splitting you see glimpses of bones and then the bones fall out

Honestly, a mixture of both would have been perfect. Having him use the metal pipes and trapping venom only to find a skeleton remaining and the symbiote growing and growling is a pretty horrifying image.
What about the scene where Eddie removes his symbiote mask? Would they just have removed it for the final reveal
What I find really cool/terrifying is that Venom not only consumed Eddie, but also contorted his body, as can be seen with Eddie’s skull having much angrier-looking sockets and sharp teeth. Just adds a body horror element that I think not only brings something cool to the character but also goes along with the drug abuse analogy. The symbiote wasn’t just twisting Eddie’s mental state, but physical state as well.
All of a sudden it makes way more sense why Venom got brutally impaled in the ending of the Spider-Man 3 movie tie in game
Now that I think about it, they could’ve done both, and here is why: first, do the idea where he stabs venom and then do the idea that was displayed in the movie. Tell me what you think

I can think of several main reasons as to why this death scene didn't make it into the final film I think the first and most likely explanation is that they simply wanted to keep the PG-13 rating death scene made it into the film it would probably be too gruesome for certain children so that's why they decided to take it out and replace it with the final Venom death scene that we have right now
