Hey man, quick info : the guy who made the fake Gray Puppet one is actually the mastermind behind dozens of FNAF 2 hoaxes and even some Sister Location pre release ones. I FOUND IT his name is RoXo1987 and he's either the creator or one of the earliest spreaders of the Purple Guy Animatronic hoax. He also did an abandoned FNAF 2 hoax Yellow Freddy (kzhead.info/sun/o8OPhbCspYJ_aoE/bejne.html) and even a FNAF 3 version of the Purple man animatronic. He's also either a Dev or a sort-of PR Head of Five Nights at Chuck e Cheese (the orginal shitty one not the good remake from a few years back).

I recall a hoax going around for FNAF2 that a silhouette of a man could sometimes be spotted in one of the hallways, I think the creator later admitted it was a hoax. The silhouette was actually a stock image of a doctor darkened and blurred.

Dang I remember the rumours surrounding the Cupcake in the first game lol. I remember a really popular theory was that the cupcake was a camera that the animatronics would use to spy on you. Pretty sure the Paper Pals had similar theories applied to them. It's crazy how outrageous some of the theories were back then!

I remember a playground rumor from my middle school, but I'm not sure how much online presence it had. The old tale went that in FNAF4 Foxy wasn't just bound to the closet. It was that he could play somewhat like Nightmare and stuff, appearing anywhere to jumpscare you. It was just (supposedly) SUPER RARE because if he went in the closet, he wouldn't leave. Most popular version of this around my middle school was that he was capable of being on the bed specifically, and you'd insta-die if he was there (and you looked.) There were versions though that also claimed he had door-jumpscares a la Chica and Bonnie. Again, not actually sure if this one had any online presence, or if it was just a thing passed word of mouth around my school back then.
Fun fact: Foxy actually does on occasion appear in the hallway (although he doesn't jumpscare you)

I remember a OLD hoax for Fnaf 1 where a floating golden Freddy down the hallway like how foxy would run down the hall and I believed it till I realized it was a splinks model years layer😅
The gray puppet actually ended up turning into a Character in the fan game “Five nights at Candys’s” 1 and 3.
But vinnie has a frown and had blue and purple not grey blue and grey Also they appear in fnac 2 in a split second when you enter the office in one of the minigames

I remember an old fnaf sister location hoax and it was that in the Funtime Freddy room fnaf 1 chica would appear whenever the lights would flicker and it was supposedly a rare chance of happening
I think Smike (a notorious FNaF youtuber at the time) dedicated an entire video towards the mystery of who could've moved the paper pals off of the wall. Can't blame him though, we didn't have much to speculate about at the time, and the bite of 87 talk was getting pretty stale.
Something interesting about the Gray Puppet hoax is that it kind of looks like Vinnie/Tragedy Puppet/Reverse Puppet (whatever you wanna call it) from Five Nights at Candy's

I think the reason Bonnie wasn’t in fnaf 3 was because since Springtrap is technically a withered Bonnie Scott didn’t feel like have 2 Bonnie’s in the game. ( This is just a theory) Edit: I know other games have multiple of the same animals like fnaf 4 but since springtrap is such a big role in this franchise he didn’t want anyone getting confused with springtrap being phantom Bonnie

You could say that fetch from fazbear frights is similar to sparky the dog? Considering Fetch is the only animatronic dog, and we know sparky is a fake “secret” animatronic that appears in the doorway of the parts and service room in FNAF 1. I don’t think it’s a coincidence, because it could be paying tribute to the character, as well as the person who made up the character.
Same can be said about Tator the waiter gator and Monty, nobody even remembers this particular fan character after Monty was revealed.
I always remember my friend saying "if you close the door when foxy in running in the hallway, it closes the door on him and he dies" pretty sure that never happened

That's was just a bug and glitch of the game, if you time it in a specific frame window it is possible, moment between game is processing frame loading jumpscare and door closing process it is possible

The cat in the prize corner image wasn't fake, but people believed that there was a cat animatronic's shadow in the render when the static is gone.
You forgot one for Fnaf 2, there was another Purple guy hoax where Purple man himself would slowly walk to your office through the hallway and you would see the silhouette of him coming closer and closer just for the game to crash

7:00 i think this hoax was originally about withered chica since you can see her block the paper pal from your view in one of the cams as if to hide it from you
some hoaxes i remember well for fnaf 4 were the fake nightmare animatronic teasers. i used to see them everywhere and while i didnt really believe them i would get really excited seeing nightmare withered chica or nightmare mangle (before nightmare mangle was actually real). i also remember people saying they saw springtrap in reflections on the sister location animatronics in the trailer (baby in particular i think). i wouldnt call it a hoax but i also remember people speculating on what/who scrap baby was and calling her "freakshow baby"
7:40 the image is actually in the game, even with the shadow there. It wasn't actually a hoax, just people speculating on what that shadow could be.
The creator of the "Freddyland" teaser hoax had no idea how close they were. If you pay attention to the newspaper in FNaF 3's intro, it mentions that Fazbear Frights is located in an amusement park.

Yeah, not only does the TV show that the date was in 83, it’s literally stated that the animatronic that did it was moving and that’s why the animatronics were only allowed to move at night. Fredbear doesn’t move at all in animatronic mode, the mode he’s in when he bites the child *on the stage.*

Back when the 2nd game came out all those years ago, I saw this forum post about Golden Freddy being able to attack you as early as night 2 from some obscure message board that’s most likely no longer in service. I remember sitting in the game for a decent amount of time on night 2 trying to get him to attack me much like the OP got attacked. I wonder where this rumor/hoax originated, because I cannot find *anything* relating to Golden Freddy being able to attack on night 2. Good times, though, trying to myth bust that forum post!
It’s interesting to see this cause I managed to miss a few of the hoaxs since I didn’t interact with the fandom much. I knew about Sparky but that was when people knew that was a hoax, I think I saw something about the kitchen camera but not the 666 thing but I was around for people trying to unlock the box & at one point saw someone use a click cheat thing or something in hopes that’d work.(It just made his clicking faster/double while he clicked both locks)
I love that Lixian (Markiplier's editor) created a FNaF:SB Ruin hoax. Hoaxes haven't really been around for so long that it was actually really cool to see people think there was an RWQFSFASXC easter egg in Ruin because of Markiplier's videos.

I can't seem to find the video anywhere, but I remember there being a FNAF 2 hoax animatronic that was a red freddy fazbear. I think it involved pressing toy freddy's nose on the poster tons of times, but I could be misremembering.

Remember that there was a hoax around FNaF3 with Bite of 87 cutscene before the game came out. Some of theorists made theories about possible contentin FNaF 3 and cutscene was there too. People thought that after completing 7th night well be able to see the cutscene of the bite. Golden times for sure.
I think people wanted a ‘Bite of ‘87’ cutscene just because we wanted confirmation on which Animatronic caused it

Man, gaming now is way different than it was in the 90's. Things like Pokemon and Zelda were RIFE with hoaxes and I think they lived on much longer than FNAF's, probably because the internet didn't really exist and I guess we were all a little naive back then...Funny, considering the 90's prided itself on being radical and rebellious...I mean, they definitely were (you can't tell me that all of that neon wasn't worn only to protest The Man), but I guess nobody has it all figured out. On the positive side, gamers today aren't so easy to confuse, which I imagine makes it easier to just enjoy the games for themselves.

I remember seeing a hoax or something of a devil Freddy or something. First game or second game, I don't remember. It was when I was like...really young, but the image still plays in my mind sometimes.
There was a RUIN hoax not too long ago that teased “Fazland”. A Fazbear themed amusment park. It even tricked the guy who made the Freddy land hoax for FNaF 3.
If I made a FNAF game it would be about Willam having dreams about the future of Freddy’s and in that he a security guard it would be like the OG games and would feature Bonnie, golden Freddy, Freddy, Chica, and puppet. In sister location og and glamrock form. It would also have all the traps spring trap etc. It would be like Fnaf 1 2 and 3 office and cameras. But whenever you die, it would flash to the bite of 83.

the bb JUMPSCARE was a glitch, because, when the first alpha was released, there was a POISON meter and it kills you if you have the mask on for to long. and the JUMPSCARE was a normal JUMPSCARE but with no animatronic animation, and sometimes players had the mask on while looking at bb, and when the poison meter hit 100, it would look like bb was jumpscaring you
