This is peak camera nerd content and I'm here for it.
I do not know half of what Gerald is talking about...but its cool.
I've loved your new studio background but always wanted it sliiiightly blurrier. So I am very happy you spent $12,000 to achieve this
🤓🤣🤣👌
That’s messed up man 😂
Isn’t blurrier background is due to the lens, not the camera 😅
@@Ken.s.Snapshots it's because of the lens yes but he was only willing to open up more on the lens because of the cleaner ISO that the a1 gives vs the a7siii
@@burgunbeerd if you open up more on the lens you actually DON’T need to raise the iso as high 😉
Gerald undone in my eyes, is the national treasure of Canada.
and of youtube
My number 1 is GSP, then Wayne Gretzky, then Gerald. 🤣
I thought that was Bryan Adams
I'm Gerald Undone and at this point I don't even need my teleprompter for the Storyblocks piece.
ROFL
I’m imagining Gerald just muttering all of his sponsor scripts while he sleeps
This is Gerald’s way of flexing on all of us. I respect it
The man is talking having TWO A-1's lol
For those of us over 60 you make the tech stuff a little easier to understand. Great presentation, useful information, and just genuinely having fun (with the apropos Canadian slightly dry self-deprecating sense of humor). Appreciate the effort you make. Best wishes...
Some of us new fangled kids have difficulty understanding Gerald. I think I'm not part of that group. Thankfully. I love Gerald and him nerding out about everything
Answer: because you can afford to.
Jared: this video is in 8k Me watching in a 1080p monitor: yeah you would be like that
@@_rhapsodist HAHAHA im dead 😂💀
Jared Geraldton.
Lol
and i watched it in 480p resolution... ...
The worst thing i've found with my A1 is that I want 2 of them!!
After this video I might own two A1’s too. I’m tired of the line dropping.
I swear I can spend hours just listening to gerald just nerd out about cameras and I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!
Me too...without ever wanting to go for video as well. But better be informed!
Same.
Thank you Gerald for doing the R&D for an idea I had no access of testing myself!
Great analysis! Interesting how the skin tones have improved, even though there is less than a year between the A7SIII and A1! Also, I really appreciated your quick focus breathing showcase, between the 35mm 1.8 and 35mm 1.4 GM! Great work, as always :)
Actually super nice to see you doing something you clearly enjoy. Really comes across that you genuinely enjoyed making this video.
Absolutely love your videos. Keep bringing them. photography and video making is a new hobby. These videos are so helpful!!!!
I love this kind of content. The update feels like a vlog for all us tech geeks and I love it. It feels more fun and less pushy to get new gear.
Been watching this video and noticed right from the beginning that this guy is sincere and one of the world's best speakers / explainers that I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. What ever this guys sells...
Keep up the great work! Glad you have access to test all this stuff for us. Man…I can’t imagine how much time you put into testing/comparing all this stuff. Amazing delivery of technical info. 👍👍👍
We’ve been shooting all our stuff with the A1 on 8k into the Ninja V “down sampling” to 4K since you posted your discovery of the feature on Instagram! So far this has been awesome and insanely sharp! It has also allowed us to crop the end result 4K quite a bit for some product reviews with amazing results!!
My question is, why doesn’t the camera down sample from 8k to 4K from the factory? They should at least give us the option for down sampled 4K recording in body.
@@NelsonsReview1 I’m not sure. My guess is that it would take more processing causing more heat which could likely make the camera overheat easier. They probably wanted to avoid an R5 press situation.
I suppose you are stucked with 30p maximum on the Ninja V when using this method.
I love your content is so nerdy, technical and someone who has genuine concern for every pixel. I love it.
I couldn't tear my eyes away. Love these types of videos. No sweat on the scatteredness, it shows it's genuine and also I operate that way as well
You're awesome. You and Josh make my favorite videos. Both of you are very smart and practical. Thanks Gerald.
Loved this video. Def having fun watching you play and work with an amazing impressive range of gear. Thanks and keep it up!
Keep making these types of videos, loving this style for sure!👍🏻
My favorite kind of business expense camera equipment
YUP!
💪🏻🤑🤑🤑👍🏻
Is KZhead a business expense? Or only when you’re making money from it???
@@zippo_muk9254 business expense = what a business spends to run their operation.
@@WHITELIONNYC good clarification thank you
Gerald I just like listening to you talk about nerdy camera stuff, keep it up.
im soo excited seeing your rig.. i've been wanting to build it the way you did for quite some times too
Enjoyed the Video a lot. Keep having fun with stuff like this!
I for one would love to see a ton more of this type of video from you, Gerald. I like the deep dive technical stuff, but there’s a bit more of your personality in this one and I’m here for it.
Thank you soooo much for making this video. I have had exhaustive conversations(arguments..Lol) with people who swear there is no need for 8K. These same people, said the same thing with the switch from 1080p to 4k. This video shows perfectly everything I have already known. You just gave me a new weapon! Fanboy will be sharing this video.
NGL, I love these types of videos. Here's hoping you make these once every month or so.
As an a1 owner, I cannot thank you enough for this video. I will make better, more informed decisions because of these tests. Thanks man.
Great way to start my day, Gerald! Having coffee and watching this first thing!
🤓🙏💜
Me over here wanting to upgrade from my a7iii to the a7siii🥺 the a1 seems unreal honestly too! Just the price is wild haha
I love this type of video! I like your job Gerlad !
I'm still waiting for the Alpha 1 and have the A7Siii and I use them for stills photography and yet I still watch your video content information. At least now I know which camera in which lighting conditions to use for some small clips. :) And watching you talk about Kondor Blue immediately had me pull up Kris Antoinette's review of the rig. Great information you are providing - thank you.
Another super helpful update. Thanks.
So funny Gerald. I just did the exact opposite switch! Good luck with the A1!
Gear envy... Thanks, Gerald, always super informative.
This has been one of my favorite videos form you. You said you were enjoying it and your smile was contagious, that made me enjoy the video even more!
Looking forward to final build out, unless I missed it someplace? Great video.
Own a A6400 and watching this video on an iPhone! Though still very curious to keep watching Gerald compare pixels between different resolutions!😆 great entertaining content without constantly having to see an ad!👌🏼
I love that there are people out there willing to test all these high end cameras, so I can continue to feel good about shooting my content on a Sony a6000 with the kit lens.
Yeah....we love such kind of vids!
Love these kind of videos! Keep making them
4:30 is Mindblowing. Thanks for your deep work that went into not just discovering this, but informing the masses. Incredible.
The video that I’ve been waiting for! Best camera reviewer on KZhead
I watched some of your videos every now and then but never had the urge to subscribe. But this video made me subscribe to your channel! Really like this one! Keep it up, Gerald!
13:47 -- We pretty much love any style of video you'll put out Gerald 👀
Cool to see the details on the A1. Thanks
As a non-Sony user, I have to thank you for 7:20, just this conclusion alone was worth watching the video. BTW, it was fun meeting you online last week :)
I say this in the best way possible but this is the first video I've watched from you in probably 2 months. I don't care too much about gear review stuffs just cuz I can't buy any of it but this nerd stuff is amazing and I love it. I'd love to see more Gerald!! still one of my favorites
I like this style of video from you. Feels a bit like your livestreams. 😁
That line skipping/chroma subsampling chart gave me blade runner vibes lol. Cells within cells interlinked. Interlinked.
Can’t speak for everyone but I totally enjoy these very nerdy slightly rambling in-depth videos! Keep them going! 🔥👍🏻
This is incredibly good content. Well done.
Your the greatest mdf camera info neardy person and love almost all your videos
lol that face you made to end the video. classic. great watch as always. I like how you explain things and I even learned that even though I use an a6400 and film 4k, using a 1080p timeline on DR with 4k footage shouldn't impact anything since I render in 1080p as well.
This was a wonderfully fun video. I love workflow stuff like this. Sounds like I'd love the A1 as my a-cam. HMMMM
Some guy offered me a mint condition A-1 for 100$ ,it's too much ,but will it rise ? ... wait wrong camera
I own the a7siii . I love how everything comes alive at night
Great video Gerald! I too do both photography and video, and love the idea of a switchable cage like this. I have Arca Swiss plate quick releases everywhere including my gimbal so I am somewhat able to quickly remove cams, but not the cage. One thing I noticed from your video is the Arca plate seems to be turned 90 degrees differently from how most traditional photography tripods would normally accept the plate. Have you noticed this issue? Essentially it seems you have the plate on sideways to put it into the cage. Thoughts?
I like this style, and I learned a lot!
As usual awesome video. Also i share your love for purple and now i need that pen of yours.
Dr. Undone, Well done......feel like I should be paying tuition to be a subscriber!!! #Bravo
Love to have the A1. So expensive but it's dope. World class content. Thanks Gerald. New sub 👍
Love it! Keep up following your enjoyment.
More of this kind of video setup please :)
Thanks for affirming my own experience Gerald, which is to record everything @24/30FPS in 8k and downsample in post for the superior IQ which is obvious when recording wildlife details. I only record 4k on the a1 when I need 120FPS. The a7SIII was sold months ago as the a1 does it all.
I just pulled the trigger today on a BMPCC 4K. Very excited. Cost me a whole $1299 plus tax. I'm getting that Davinci Resolve license included with the camera. I'm also very grateful I'm retired and don't have to bring in revenue to support both me and to have cameras good enough to make my work remain competitive!
Love your videos and your relatively new setup! On the theme of being extremely detailed, did you think about trucking your camera to camera-right a bit so your storage shelves are equal in frame? To reference, I look at the front beams versus the back beams and always notice your setup isn't quite aligned. Just throwing that out there - if it's on purpose, great!
Very interesting. Thank you, Gerald.
Thanks, again, for another in-depth vide! I'd like to see your review of the A7SIII vs A1 using the Fujinon MK+Anamorphot lens+adapter combination for cinematography. The adapter lens would create an additional light stop, so would like to see that ISO comparison. Thank you!
I'm Gerald Undone and don't expect it back, I'm gonna keep this 😁
Another great video, thank you for always sharing great content and insight. I really enjoyed the comparison for the lenses. Will you be getting rid of the a7siii?
I love this video. Feels like I’m your best friend! It’s like a day in your life kinda
Great to hear! Thanks a lot.
Also found I left the SIII at home and always picked the A1, especially the cleaner ISO range and to be honest: the flipout screen turns out to be really impractical if you monitor your audio. Thinking of selling the SIII and RIV and get a second A1.
This channel is so freakin underrated! Deserves so much more.
I bit the bullet and sold my a7rIV for the A1. Wasn't Planning on it but my local shop had one and I couldn't resist. I did keep my A7s3 for vlogs and strictly video. I was wondering when you were going to pick yours up!
You’re great man! Love your content!
Fucking love this style of video, Gerald. Keep having fun!
I won't be getting the A1 any time soon (nor the A7S III, for that matter) but I've enjoyed this video all the same. Top content, loads of practical tips, saves a lot of time and hassle for prospective buyers.
Love the vid man. Its so intresting.
Awesome video as always.
Love Kondor Blue! I wish they have more distributing partners in Canada - looking forward to the next video!
Great video. This cage looks great. One question though. Is it possible to quickly release from the cage if you have sigma 24-70 or some bigger lence mounted on?
This is LITERAL pixel peeping, taken to a whole other level! :D Love it
Great video, thanks for the well explained and detailed video. I was just wondering if there’s any chance for you to make a video or suggest one that shows how to setup the best setting for videos on the Sony a1. Thanks Filipe
That's been my biggest dislike of my Smallrig cage on my Sony A7iii. I've always wanted a quick release to make it easier for photos or mounting on a gimbal. Great info Gerald!
Thanks Gerald. I noticed right away that this video is the best looking video you have every made imho. Too bad the A1 is so expensive!
Keep being and doing you Gerald.
I’m not too sure if it was mentioned before but the Allen key for the clamp is underneath, is magnetic and it fits. 🤘🏽
Never heard of Kondor Blue before but that quick release plate with the cage for quick access to the camera is ABSOLUTELY GENIUS!!! Will have to look to see if they have a cage for the XT3 and if they have a U.K. stockist. Thanks Gerald, great vid as always.
Update, no Fuji cages 😭😭
You’re Gerald Undone… I’d be disappointed if you weren’t constantly pushing ahead and giving us the inside scoop on the latest tech. Great job! Thumbs up 👍
I’ve asked in a past video about the 8k output. If you output 8k to the ninja v and records in ProRes, it will be 4.2.0 or 4.2.2? Excellent video as always, by the way. Congrats!
Dope vid as always Gerald. Is this Kondor Blue cage compatible with Peak Design's arca plate? Cheers 🙌🏾
Awesome video! I am currently rigging out an A1 and A7siii. I'm curious if a peak design tripod plate would fit the Kondor Blue cage. That's the one thing holding me back.
This is awesome to watch!
I just came to say that thumbnail is such fucking good bait for tech heads 😂 Respect man 🙌🏼
Gerald, there is something I like about the look in this video, which is more "contrasty", than your norm. IMHO. I like it.
Gerald looks so happy talking about the A1😀
Hello Gerald, amazing as usual. Something off topic Could you please include an audio preamp test for the current mirrorless cameras? Thank you.
