When they put “Fallout” in the title of a looter-shooter with a veneer of Fallout aesthetics, they knew the customers would be expecting a Fallout game that plays like previous Fallout games that Bethesda had developed. So yes, it was trying to be a Fallout game by marketing to the Fallout customers and trying to get the sales numbers a Fallout game would get.

@@rd0676The game feels Minecrafty, except fallout guns gear and mobs, with minimal griefers and lots of endgame rerolling enchantments on gear. So for the most part you only come across players when they fast travel to your base to look what you selling and for Co-op events where you are happy they are desperately trying to show off how strong they are because they practically guarantee event rewards for you. To be fair, if they are lv 1000 maxed out with perfect stat full legendary gear, it is probably due to how long they played rather than how much they spent, and they probably reached that point to show off in co-op rather then to harass low lv players.

Kill me too. I enjoy the heck outta 76, alone and with fiends. I respect the older titles, but I like playing with a lot of people. I played for a year before I got FO1st. I think I unlock just about every camp item before hand.
I tried FO76 back in 2023 for the first time and it was way better than I thought. The only thing I found to be annoying was inventory management.
Same here. I was extremely surprised and did two playthroughs before quitting. As to inventory management, that was why they had their 'club' which had that outrageous monthly fee (unlimited storage plus other things). Mind you, they have enough stash space to play the game easily, but you had to limit the hording. Apparently it was way worse when it was first released. I think instead of 1200 pounds it was 300 or so. Luckily they wised up.
Same. Paid for fallout 1st. Worth it imo as you get lots of atoms for the shop. Got the game for free, so why not? Dumped tons of hours into the game and have fun with my friends. Knew the game would be dog doodoo prior to release so waited until 2023 to try it out. Still will never understand why anyone purchased it full price at release when it was so obvious it was a mess.
Inventory management like equipment load? or more like loot categories? because equipment load becomes better when you have a power armor, you gain 100-150 "lbs" in terms of loot categories I can perfectly understand that, the UI is really 2016ish theres a ton of furniture that can help seperate your loot, like a display furnite thingy (sorry im french canadian) ex : the comics can be demonstrated to everyone and so is the power armor theres a ton of ways to fold your loot correctly at the right place also in this game, dont be a loot goblin, you will become overencumbered really quickly

@@jacktodd3439 It runs horrible on my 3070, it looks awful, it stills bugged (not bugs as day one, but the typical BGS bugs and even glitches like those ones to go faster into the Sites to drop a bomb) servers are ok some times, others days its awful (again) by tons of disconnections and a long etc. It was a good recovery, but if this is the standard for new BGS games, damn.
the jumping was pretty bad, so i installed a mod that made it better. it's 40gb, and requires 20 other mods to work (and it won't work the next time the game gets updated).

Fallout 76 wasn't review bombed on Steam. It launched on the Bethesda launcher. It didn't come to Steam until much later. The Bethesda launcher was sunset in May of 2022.

It was announced 1 million players were on FO76 in a single day so a few people disagree with Legacy's opinions. I enjoy all the Fallout games and understand why FO76 is not for everyone since it's built around online features. But youtubers march in lockstep with their hate content instead of having an adult opinion by saying this is not a game for their liking, but can see why others have enjoyed the game. No one denies the rocky road of FO76, but to refuse to recognize that players are enjoying the game after years of updates makes this a disengenious video that was made with a negative intent. The Fallout t.v. show turned out to be mighty foe for youtubers. Their usual hateful rhetoric is now being ignored by players who have been motiviated by the show to play 76 then decide for themselves if it's their type of game. KZheadrs have lost their influence over FO76.

People love to hate a lot. Granted the game has a lot of issues but I'm quite tired of these people who treat others like idiots because they like a game they don't like. The superiority complex these people have is insane, they treat others like stupid kids with peanut brains because they like fallout 76 or 4, and act like they're big alpha chads just for liking new vegas, 1, or 2, and then nobody ever talks about 3 for some reason. I like all of them, and they all have their issues but they're all good in their own ways.

Cheese, and at no point, not sooner nor later, did we end up anywhere that was somewhat Chuck E. Cheese, and later it turns out that you never planned on driving to Chuck E. Cheese to begin with. You just said it so we would clap and cheer. Just say, "plans change, my bad, I shouldn't have said those things." Take the L like an adult instead of trying to make it the consumer's fault that you said things that ended up not being true. Don't try to claim "it was semantics" because if the communication was not received clearly, you're at least 50% at fault (ie pulling a Sean Murray). Even if the people above you made the decision that made the things you said not true, just own that you said them and it was an error. You're speaking as one of the faces of the game/company, it's your role to communicate clearly and, if the audience isn't happy, it's your job to take the hits in the place of the executives that own you.

Bravo! This is what people seem to miss about why 76 is a slap in the face to everyone not just Fallout fans. This kind of stuff is limited to mobile games and other low tier projects that don't have the gameplay or writing prowess to make a truly good game that stands on its own. Gotta agree even though I am enjoying the game right now..the limitations with the crafting and stash box stuff are just starting to become a problem for me and that is super lame to have those behind the atomic shop..I can prolly get 1 or two from the atoms Ive earned from just playing but that stuff should be in the base game not a shop..half the game is picking up materials to scrap and use them for crafting later..no excuse for the limited space..that being said I have been enjoying just walking through and doing the quests and stuff. Think its alright for a playthrough of the story and quests but doubt I’ll stick around for the end game long. Just felt like exploring a new wasteland instead of playing fallout 3 for the 20th time😂

As a developer I never understood Todds quote.. 16x detail just means 1k textures (Skyrim build, legacy standard) to 4k textures (past-gen standard). Clearly, that wasn't accurate. Most of the terrain is compressed to half that in the final build at release; even at highest settings.

Honestly, the map of Fallout 76 is much more detailed than that of Fallout 4, there is a lot of variety of biomes and places, so I understand why he said 16 times the detail because it is true that the map is much more detailed.

Not really. The Fallout community rates Fallout 4 as one of the worst Fallout games. Mods are the only thing that saved it. Also, 76 is a multiplayer expansion for Fallout 4.

@@streetside2833no, people also have a problem with the ugly and limited weapons, bad story, weak characters, weak RPG elements, tedious leveling system/perk system and boring radiant/side quests. None of those are minor at all. Those are all core game mechanics. It was finally correcting that with Far harbor and then to a lesser degree nuka world. They should’ve done at least one more big DLC. Also, many unused locations with named enemies that are just shooting galleries like Quincy for example.
The sad part is I'd rather play 76 than Starfield right now.

I'm playing fallout 76 with my wife and we are having a blast, to each and their own I guess. I would recommend the game.

People have such short memories nowadays, that I've seen many people unironically state that Cyberpunk 2077 had the "worst launch of all time", completely ignoring that Fallout 76 existed just a couple of years prior and not only was entirely unplayable (not just unplayable on 1 very specific and outdated console), but also scammed a lot of people out of promised merchandise - canvas bags, leaked people's personal information, overcharged people for cheap gimmicky shit like the Nuka Cola bottles, etc... Or the fact that even before that No Man's Sky existed, that while it wasn't completely broken at launch, it was because there was practically nothing TO break, since the game was lacking so much promised content and features.

There's nothing inherently wrong with different styles or genres of games set in the same universe. It adds variety and gets people interested that might not like the isometric, turn-based originals. Or, like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, you can just pretend the last few don't exist and still be happy rewatching the good ones. It would be nice if they let a decent studio put together another epic RPG though.

❤ I too like the OG Fallout 76 story the sense of isolation and mystery. It was fun uncovering the mysterious circumstances that led to the demise of all the survivors. I liked that unlike other games in the franchise 76 actually described the development of civilization post great War even if that's civilization was wiped out. That said I still think that Bethesda always intended on adding in NPCs to later seasons. That People's belief that Bethesda caved to pressure to add them is nothing more than a delusion of grandeur.
You're not alone. It's background worldbuilding is the only good or "Fallout" thing about it, afic, and "adding NPCs" was pointless given those NPCs have nothing interesting to say. Story and characterization never have been Bethesda's strongsuit, but the fact the game is specifically designed to feed the Great Vampire Squid is too ironic for words.

No, it's not and no, they don't. I haven't spent a cent since purchase and have long since had way more than I need to have fun with it. Ok unless you count the stash space. That's a bit limiting, but still not a deal breaker for me.

They limit almost every avenue for progression in the game, like scrip, stamps, caps, score, atoms, legendary modules and cores, rng with weapon roles, etc. And yeah definitely with the storage amount. 1200 is still laughably small given the weight things take. It fills up very quickly. These are all done to push fallout 1st memberships and atom sales for the overexpensive atomic shop. Not to mention the new scoreboard layout is just worse than before for the most part
I guess it depends on what you want out of the game. I'm not interested in the late game grind or seasons, I'm just wandering around checking out the map and doing side quests the same as I did in Fallout 3/4/NV. I've got dozens of unspent levels and I'm happy with my gear without spending any money or doing what I would consider grinding. If they're into the events, daily/weekly missions, dungeons/delves and grinding for gear then I'd argue that most people would be fairly happy with the balance.

The box is only used for scrap and there is no limit to the caps or atoms, plus there are a lot of perks to remove space, the large and small backpacks, the backpack modules and the excavator servo armor, 1200 space is more than enough For someone who does know how to manage their inventory, I have not paid for Fallout First and I have managed my inventory well, the subscription is not really worth it.
The basic problem, aside from the fact it was made by BETHESDA, was that people wanted Fallout with Multiplayer, not Multiplayer Fallout. The key difference there being that they have to make a story based game that is intended to be played solo, but with the option of multiplayer. **OPTION** to play Multiplayer. Not that hot garbage of solo player mechanics on a multiplayer game with an engine that was outdated in 2012.

I love Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4, as for Fallout 76…. Personally been playing since beta on Xbox and PC, finished all the quest-lines four separate times, at this point I am a little bored. But theres a ton of content here for new players and you can pick the game up for like $9.00 dollars on sale quite often. There is fun to be had here solo or with friends questing, trading, building, expeditions, exploring and doing events. While I wish they would bring back Nuclear Winter, I would say it’s worth it in 2024.

The fact that the scrap box is locked behind a paywall is the number one reason not to play this game. I filled my stash box up in one day I tried selling some my stuff to a vendor and it ran out of caps.... They want you to pay to loot things in the game

You can perfectly play with 1200 space, there are a lot of ways to take away space with a lot of perks, also with backpacks and their modules. If you run out of space in your storage or character, it is your fault for not knowing how to handle it well, only ignorant people or who is mentally ill, that's your problem, not the game's

There aren't any farms or ranches for crops and livestock to raise and harvest, so are the survivors just eating the expired microwave meals from the grocery store? Sure, there are traders wandering between settlements, but where are they getting their supplies? Where are those supplies coming from? Who’s bringing them?

The biggest downturn for Fallout 3 is the main narrative telling this grand epic role-playing adventure in a post-apocalypse…without giving us any real choices or consequences _for_ role-playing. Plus, the main story doesn’t really feel like a story at all, just a bunch of things that happened one after another. Then there’s all the carryover and callbacks from the other Fallout games, which would be fine if the game wasn't a continent removed from 1 and 2.
Todd Howard is akin to Peter Molyneux but managed to stay around to 2024 and continue the grift at a “AAA” studio.

I got 400 hours on record for Fallout 76 and hardly ever interacted with other players. I mainly spent that time building my base into a community hub for new players. I would sell recipes, weapons, ammo, and armor for cheap to help out lower-level players.

That's cool, play the story content, see if it's fun. If you do enjoy it, that's great, because after that there is nothing to do but grind and farm the same braindead repetative content. For many people even the story content is very shallow, has no meaningful skill checks, no choices or consequences, the story is boring and the characters are forgettable. Even the F4 story, which is considered by many fans to be the worst in the franchise, is still far more engaging and memorable than F76 story. The only people who seem to like F76 for what it is, are people who aren't really looking for a genuine Fallout experience. To them Fallout is a post-apocalyptic looter shooter, with occasional exposition and a fetch quest thrown at them by random wastelander NPCs. If that's you, you'll have a blast my friend.

The inventory space debacle was my last straw with this game. I gave it a chance after playing the beta, saw SOME charm in it. A brand new beautiful map filled with stuff, but even I got bored without any substance to that stuff. Pete Hines telling everyone that "Inventory is a server problem and we can't increase it." And then they go back and triple it, and then offer an unlimited option if you subscribe to Fallout 1st, a subscription service for a game that was nowhere near worth paying any money passed the box price for and needed YEARS of work before it would be worth a damn. You can use your Chuck-E-Cheese analogy to spin it any way you want, but you flat out lied to your customers and sold them a solution to a problem you created. Server limitations are not you "getting sick." You can fix server limitations, you just choose not to. You can make a game worth the value, but you choose not to. You can write a good story, but again, YOU CHOOSE NOT TO. Bethesda is a lazy company and there are other games I could play and get the experience I could get from Fallout 76 that came out years before. Fallout 76 is nothing but a cash grab of a game that cares more about selling you cosmetic workshop trash than delivering a fun multiplayer fallout game that doesn't do anything with it's multiplayer aspect. You could make the game entirely single player and get the exact same experience. It's literally only multiplayer so people have an excuse to show off all the cosmetic workshop trash they actually spent money on and make them go "Huh, I want that, where can I get it?" Atom shop.

Played the game on multiple occasions in 2018 and 2022 solo. Between getting annoyed by the atomic store and bored by the gameplay I don't see a point in this game. As a Fallout fan I have to say it is an even buggier, less interesting version of Fallout 4. Which already barely is an rpg compared to older Fallout games. It's barely Fallout at all if you think about it. It doesn't care for it's own lore nore does it make sense story- and timeline-wise. It's just Fallout, cause it sells...but honestly could be any other IP.

You forgot to mention how Bethesda removing the refuel requirements for the vertibird broke the expeditions for a bunch of people, making it so you get hard locked out of starting the mission after finishing the requirements if you've never done an expedition before. This went on for over a month for a bunch of people myself unfortunately included there

I never tried 76 because my experience with Bethesda games is they require a lot of mods and sometimes console commands to be playable.
That’s why I enjoy 76 because it doesn’t need mods and you can play with friends or strangers who are actually very nice unlike most communities.

Fallout 76 is a prime example of the just sheer overload of online and multiplayer games that come out every month if not week. I get the want to play with friends and make new ones but if we ate honest the best multiplayer or co op games are not triple a and the massive lack of even well made not even fantastic but just well made singleplayer games for any triple A games studios, good games nowadays are found outside of the mainstream industry and in the depths of indie games on steam
Fallout 76 is a terrible game that I love. I play it with my wife almost everyday, but ONLY because it’s something we do together. The game has so many issues still and new players will leave after a month or two.

Fallout 76 has its cons, but the game is recieving allot of unnecessary hate. I just started playing a few weeks ago, and its definitely keeping me invested. The only issues I saw are things like: 1. Lmited inventory space for FTP 2. Not having a preview to building plans 3. Not giving enough details for events I have played this game extensively as well, and the last thing I can say is that although the ending in fo4 was pretty bland, I have never known another gaming company who made pretty decent sidequests.
When I found, thet 10mm pistol have same 15dmg, same as pipe pistol, I understood thet Bethesda thinks thet it's players are biggest dumbasses. And will take any shit thet they will release.

Different stroke for different folks, something about the game got me really interested since day 1, i was lucky to not encounter tons of bugs and stuff ... or didnt notice em. 5 years later i still hop on here and there to do some boss fights and play any new content that drops. im looking forward to the map expansion

It was supposed to be a rust clone. It didn't work. They fixed it. I've been playing since day one. I take more time off these days. But the game is way better than what it was. If you play it for what it is, it's a role playing game with heavy on your imagination of how you see your play through. The thing that keeps bringing me back is the friends that I've made in the game over the years because they're the best in-game friends that I've had online since Halo 2. You get in with a good group of people that want to play the game and actually like it, that is where this game is peak performance in an experience. KZheadrs don't have friends so they don't understand... 😅

I'd only play this game if the map was ported to fo4, all the content to make it sp, and not a grind. No, FO 1st is not the same and why tf should I pay to play on a private server. The core of this game is a slog of a grind and annoying. The community is welcoming enough, but the core of still is a mess. The bugs are still there causing problems.
Honestly I'd say the bugs are worse than fo4, I Never had any bugs when using power armor in 4 on the PS4 or PC but literally 3/5 times id get into or try to get into my armor in 76 it bugs out and I'm just standing there not able to do anything but relaunch the game, my pipboy doesn't open, fast travel does nothing, even the HUD and aiming reticle has disappeared. My only options were standing there till my armor auto put itself back in my inventory or jumping back to the main menu and launching into a new server.
The core of the game is the same as 4 😆 It's just side quests and exploring, except the map is different and much bigger. 76 plays just fine as a single player game. The main story is a glorified tour bus and NPCs are ordinary even by Bethesda standards, but there's plenty of side quests and locations. Ignore the daily/weekly/community mission grind and the only thing that's missing is the million mods and the console commands. Fair enough if that's a deal breaker, but most people wouldn't heavily mod Fallout 4 for their first play through either.

Man, i played some fallout 76 again and after playing 300 hours i get a huge stutter ever 5m on a fairly high end rig. Nothing i have done has fixed it.

Its funny, I put 72 hours into Fallout 76. It was genuinely fun romping around its colorful world with my buddies, managing my power armor and exploring the actually interesting poi's and dungeons. What destroyed my motivation and made me put it down was the fact that you have to pay irl money subscription for your base to have "infinite" storage. I don't even know if that gives infinite loot storage when you pay. When having infinite storage was a normal facet of any base in Fallout 4, New Vegas and even 3. I don't know if it will ever change, but it feels crippling to have that caveat even after purchasing the game and some DLC.

The reason I stopped playing was the endless grind for ammo, grinding the raw materials for ammo just to do one event only to grind for more ammo, I hated that
Ammo drops from all the monsters now (It drops the ammo of the weapon you are using). You can use the ammo converter to get the ammo you need.
Best way to get more ammo is doing expeditions or daily ops.
It’s easy to get at least 10k bullets then that will last you a long time
Buuuh This is the easiest thing in the game, only a lazy person doesn't have ammunition, especially ballistics
I just use the luck perk to find ammo. I got over 10k 5mm rounds for my Gatling gun

I actually like Fallout 76, but i would really come to love it if didn't have unnecessary obstacles. Everything you pick up weighs 50lbs, but you can carry up to 200lbs. You need to equip cards to hold more junk, but you also need cards to hold ammo that you can't sell to npc vendors. You can store them in an ammo crate that's only available with FO1st subscription. Can't travel with too little ammo as everything takes 50 rounds just to take down. You can improve this with mutations which can cost 1700 caps, in which you're "capped" at 4000. Then you need the right armor which isn't available without ending main quest. Then you roll (depending on Legendary cores #) for the right effect for your armor, and hope for the one you need. Then there's the scoreboard challenges!? eat veggies 10 times, pick up 20 tin cans, visit a friend's camp, call your mom 🤪for 300pts! Though i enjoy the new enemies like the Scorched and the Mole Miners. And the tech is cooler by design 👍
I wish Bethesda never acquired the fallout IP although i prefer the fps rpg gameplay, if obsidian still made new vegas and used a normal engine that isnt geriatric and convoluted it could have been perfect but that was the caveat they had to use the same engine morrowind ran on.

Fallout would have ended 20 years ago if Bethesda never picked it up, notwithstanding the minute chance of a Baldur's Gate-style Fallout 3 game out of nowhere decades later. For better or worse it's now significantly more popular than it probably has any right to be, I'd say at least some of that is thanks to the endless controversies keeping people talking about it.
They do need to let go of that engine.
@@magoochito I think elder scrolls 6 is still going to be creation engine 😭, although they have definitely improved it, the only reason they use it is because they're too prideful to recognize that it's just not up to par.
Quite 76 when i ran out of bullets to kill the queen. Bullet sponges just aren't fun as a way to increase the challenge. Now go play New Vegas. Far better storyline and characters.

The leveling the area around me to my level killed it. I used to like being able to build my camp in low difficulty areas decked out as a base camp for new players. The sense of progression within the world is gone
Dang I can’t believe it’s been five years already. Five years was about how long the PS2 ruled, and that felt like forever.
The really sad part is that in a year or so, general consensus for the casuals will be that "76 is actually underrated."
I picked it up recently again. It’s not bad and I’m having lots of fun. I had it day one and there are lots of improvements. The loot has been rebalanced I get a lot more ammo and The my stash capacity is now 1200 compared to 400 on day one.
1200 is still nothing. That's like 50 fusion cores, 150 boiled water for cooking, a handful of guns and some collectibles. This game sucks once you put enough time into it, it doesn't get better and you're gonna have to pay a subscription fee to enjoy the buggy mess that the game still is.
