We finally broke out the new John Deere chopper, wagons and baggers! Follow along as we break down the corn chopping process step by step. This was our first day out and we had many learning curves, but the guys figured it out by the end.
We are a family farm located in Northern Ohio and chopping is one of our newest projects. Thanks for viewing!
I'm 51 yr old and we have always called it walking floors and the semi trailers since as long as I can remember
Ohhh That Sound!!!! There is Nothing like the sound of a Kemper Head and a JD Chopper. I miss that so much!!!
Great Video, thanks for sharing
I laughed at the “MFC - Miller Farms Choppers!” Haha 😂
I like seeing your clients and their productions. It gives faces to farming 😊
Thank you! It really does
Wow...that is an amazing coordination of multiple machines! The new chopper is awesome! Thank goodness Carl was there to keep things organized and running smoothly!
Carl held us all together!
@@FarmingInsiderPresumably all of the new equipment was on finance, so can you tell me which finance company it is that uses you?
Hi from Down Under. We did our first year of silage into bags as well. Our bagger you load from the front as you tip the forage into it. It's a lot faster, you still have to move the tiping trailer forward but it's seems to be far quicker than the side method. Also we have a anchor that drags inside the silage in the bag this way we don't have to have winch ropes along the bag. It's originally had winch ropes but has been modified. With each bag we get a plastic ruler which is made of the same plastic as the bags as you showed we lay the ruler over the marks on the bag to get the correct amount. Thanks enjoyed you video only just found your channel.
I have seen those! We considered it but options were a little limited this year. Thank you for watching!
Amazing 👍⭐
Good to see Rob back in action.
very good!
“Nice lookin cows! I’ll be danged!” What an icon.
They are beautiful cows!
Fascinating content. You’re doing a great job of showing what’s involved in harvesting.
thank you for viewing!
I was waiting for some chopper content and it did not disappoint
Thank you for the continued support!
Had a blast helping you guys get this beast in the field and optimized!
We really appreciated it!
It's nice to see some of our H&S boxes in use.
It’s been my dream to start a custom harvesting business, I love watching these videos!!! You have some expensive beautiful machinery I hope everything goes well for you.. stay safe!
Thank you very much! Good luck with your journey
A walking floor is another system altogether. In a walking floor you have 'slabs' that move fore and aft in the trailer. All the slabs move at once to shift the entire load, pushing some off the back. Then they retract separately (or walk) so that the load doesn't shift back forward. Once they're all retracted they all extend back again.
Really good explaining how things work!
We set up our unloaded on wagon and feed conveyer with a fiberglass fence post on each. It gave the drivers a better visual representation of where to stop. They make the post touch and they were good they also could see how far up they needed to pull.
Cool video on bagging 👍
Glad you liked it!
I felt like I was learning with you guys!
Nice equipment you have.
We try to keep it nice!
Best purchase for an operation like that is two way radios. With headset and foot switch for chopper operator.
Great job for first run!!! Wonder if you should move those electric dials to left side of cab so they dont have to go to chiropractor. :)
Yes, that is a fantastic idea. We already had the mounting brackets on that side or we would have. That is something to look into next year
That's a big chopper. I loved the video. Thank you
I think it'd be helpful to visit another chopping operation, especially with unloading into the bagger
We got it figured out!
That was a really good video, thanks!
Thank you!
Great video m8
I can't wait till Carl gets comfortable around the camera, I'll bet he's a friggin riot to be around :)
He is one of the funniest men I know
I have seen a SP bagger with a front dump bed so the forage wagons can dump from the rear quickly and get back to the SP harvester quickly. Pretty cool, but expensive.
I'd like to see that
Been waiting for this video for a while already
Thanks for tuning in!
@@FarmingInsider I love your content. I just started working for a custom manure spreading farm so it's pretty interesting to see what kind of equipment other farmers operate.
I like your video's......greetings from the netherlands
Greetings!
Glad I found you guys, I'm not too far away. I was at Kuhns Mfg today picking up my new bale accumulator and grapple and was probably even closer.
We are glad you found us!
wow you sure do have Fairly Big Hands!!
Wow! Thanks for noticing!
Am addicted to ur videos men And also tractor's and farming but I can't afford
Thanks for following along!
Try it with tandem body jobs. 24ft box with silage gate
Bellissimo video 🙋♂️ 🌈 🌞
How many acres did you guys end up chopping last year? I hope you video a bunch this year! I love the chopping videos!
those carts are pretty
Very pretty!
My neighbors have bags and my first time walking by. I thought it smelled good.
Time to get a proper Chopper. Get a Class 😎
Your opening says you do Blueberries but I've never heard a single mention of them nor have you shown anything about blueberry fields! Just curious about why this is. Have a great week, gang! Love your channel!
It’s just a very very small part of our operation and only about 4 weeks during our busiest hay season as well so it’s untimely to cover it :(
Really digging the new style H&S boxes! Are they 26ft?
What model/size is that Forage Harvester and Head? Bagging is typically seen in a smaller operation, definitely not usually behind a V12 JD Forage Harvester. "Nothing Chops Like A Deere" 🦌👍🇺🇸
9800i and a 12 row head. She really backed up the bagger, that is for sure
@@FarmingInsider That's what I thought, but I never got a clear view of the decal, I knew it was one of the V12's by the dual exhaust, they're a beast for sure, and if you could move the silage fast enough, it could keep 3-4 baggers busy. I'm a recent subscriber, I enjoy your channel, and videos, especially the one showcasing your square bale hay operation, which is impressive, to say the least. "Nothing Runs Like A Deere" 🦌👍🇺🇸
The agbag is the bottle neck, for sure.
Stay on your rows lol its a bi directional head always take one less row than head is designed for so you don't leave stragglers standing
It was the choppers guys first few passes haha. We went back for them
No, you use all rows. If you only use 11 out of 12 like you want John, that would be an 8% reduction in capacity.
Where is your farm located ? I live near Norwalk, Oh.
We are in mostly Medina and Lorain county
any way to put that control box for the wagon on the other side of the cab so he does'nt have to look over his left sholder by spinning his head around to the right, gotta be a pain in the neck, back, butt, EVERYTHING LOL
Yes, we will look into that for next year. We already had the mounting brackets on that side
SLAM CORN? That's a new one. Slam. a loud bang caused by the forceful shutting of something such as a door. "the back door closed with a slam"
Are those wagens brand new Yall post when im in school
they are!
@@FarmingInsider nice your a good youtuber and when is harvest start
Thanks! Harvest is running full steam. I have some combining videos coming soon
@ 17:00 what is that powder beeing applied to the corn?
sila prime
are we gonna be able to buy any merch?
Yes! when we hit 20k subscribers we are hoping and happy to have some merch for sale
Carl seemed like he was not in a cheerful mood. Must have been stressed.
Never good having the chopper waiting, definitely the system needs some tweaking
New sub! Personal opinion! Maybe shorten the intro! The faster to content, the faster to views
thank you for joining along! Yep, you’re right and the analytics agree with you. In the newer videos, I haven’t been putting an intro in while I work on a shorter and sweeter one
Such a small intake for that bagger :-/
Yes we need to be running both baggers
DO YOU WATCH THE MILLENNIAL FARMER
Yes. Who doesn’t? Lol
You need a bigger bagger
We have 2 but they are the same size lol
There not cheap ,the big ones and money does not grow on trees but chopper sitting is bad
Please post at least two times a week at video
We are trying to post more!
@@FarmingInsiderthanks for trying
@@FarmingInsider if you are the boss why can you not relax edit videos and post it on KZhead
Wow the amount of waste and as slow as u guys r going you'll be lucky for a year two......hope u aren't charging a lot
This was literally the first day 7 out of the 9 of us had ever chopped, ran a forage wagon, used a bagger or any of that. Unfortunately not everyone was born as perfectly talented as you Cody lol
i'm confused on the history behind this
What history?
That bagger is not nearly big enough for that size of chopper.
Your windows are filthy.. Take pride,, wtf
Oh man
Do you guys have a Instagram account and 10 feet behind the chopper
No Instagram. 10ft, that's good to know!
Amazing 👍⭐
