  • To All the doctors and nurses who are working around the clock I pray that you all stay as healthy as you possibly can.

    • hilstorm3 Numerous studies have shown that praying is as good as doing nothing at all. A few studies have even shown it leads to slightly worse outcomes, but no credible evidence has ever supported the ides that praying for something is beneficial in any way.

  • The fact that none of this has to happen is insane. I’m a Respiratory Therapist and people have no clue how much unnecessary death and suffering is happening. The privilege, disrespect, and willful ignorance is infuriating.

    • I get what you're saying & I thank you all & God Bless you all but what's even more infuriating is that our own Govt & those who are in positions to protect all of us from such horrible disease & pandemics like this are the very ones who created & caused all of this.

    • The lack of proper wartime triage protocols is what's enabling this situation and making it worse. These people think there's no real risk to themselves, because they assume that a) There'll always be an ICU bed waiting for them, and b) that you are all Fairy God Mothers who can just bibbity bobbity boo the Covid away. Make them all start taking a number, unless they were vaccinated when able to be vaccinated, and you watch 'm all start frantically dashing for the vaccines... That's not cruel or immoral, and it's not actually against the Hippocratic Oath, either. When you tell a vaccinated cancer patient, "Sorry, your life doesn't matter as much as the life of this other patient who is going to die in a few weeks because they wrongly declined the vaccine," that's what's unethical and very much against the Oath to do no harm. Please discuss wartime medical triage with Vets who served as medics during different wars. They'll all tell you the same exact thing. They'll tell you how you have to judge, you have to play God, and you have to choose the ones with more of a chance of living over the ones who will die no matter what you do. They'll tell you that any soldier who shoots themselves in the foot to get attention or an early leave or a medal or whatever... That soldier is automatically sent to the back of the line. They'll tell you that, yes, you are at war and, yes, you do desperately need to change tactics, or, yes, you will just keep losing. It's not only the Covid patients you're losing in this battlefield, it's also the cancer and heart patients who don't deserve to hear, "Go home and try not to die for the rest of the pandemic." Maybe you feel I don't have a right to tell you and other medical staffers how to do this better. Maybe you're right about that. At the end of the day, it's the message that matters, not the messenger. Deep down, you know that this message is where it's all really at, and there are no two ways around it. If you feed the wrong wolf, it's the one that will survive.

    • I think a great many of these hospital workers are going to have terrible PTSD later, like the soldiers who came home from Vietnam. Some of them are breaking down and walking out in the middle of their shifts, some of them are committing suicide. Some of them can't eat or sleep when they go home. They are so numb with mental and physical exhaustion that they cannot connect with their spouses or children in a meaningful way. This is no way to live, we'll be lucky if there are any nurses or doctors left in 5 years. I'm so, so, so glad my mom retired years ago. Health care is going to become like teaching, absolutely vital to society but no one wanting to do it anymore.

The sharpie monster is still to this day encouraging his followers to defy states' stay-at-home orders. He'd deliberately hindering everyone who's working hard to save lives. He's a real burden to doctors and nurses and hospitals. If you call yourself a Christian, do the right thing and condemn your sharpie master. Only a collective voice from his voters can deter him from further damages. If you call yourself a Christian, vote your sharpie master out, along with all of the GOP.

    • @@user-ys6kv5dz8l So disagree. They're doing the same as the first responders who were running into the towers on Sept 11, 2001 as others well running (and leaping from the window) to get out.. it's not a day that goes on like that Tuesday when I remember watching from the TV that morning after my morning swim and the call from my mom, watching more late into the night... This is just a difference type of hero.... Those people who were killed on duty that day are in the history books and it's a finite number, even though a few of what once had been the many fliers with pictures of them reading: MISSING were still hanging in the early winter of that year. They were not coming home, but it was a kind of heroism that was almost a martyrdom to some of the people who were not really there, and who were, but it's different because they were not going to make some more casualties the next day for the NYPD, FDNY and paramedics, and "we" didn't know who "they" were, we still don't but for a few months our country banded together and the worst other people could do brought out the best in the average person... This is a big difference because it's not finite. We're still living in what will become a part of the history books for our children, grandchildren and theirs. We have no idea how to prevent it from infecting others, and in only a couple of months we're past the butcher's bill for our Vietnam war dead.... It's not showing any sign of stopping. This IS history being made and these people in the medical field and in radio the other areas, including the funeral business, I pray for your family, for you, your mental and physical and spiritual wellbeing, and I will not forget about it, I have not forgotten about the people who ran into the towers and I lost my cousin in the North tower, above the plane, but she stayed on the phone with her husband until that tower fell, and as all of it was happening, my then-husband was taking the police exam in Cleveland and couldn't be interrupted... Now I have a daughter who's a nurse. You don't have to remember to pray for my loved ones, but she's tough.. this is killing tough and tender, and she's that, too. And when I pray for her and the other people's kids of all ages on the Frontline of the fight against Corona virus, I will think of you and your family, and I will remember to pray for you, because I have more time on my hands with the quarantine and it turns out, I find myself praying for a whole lot of the people I've been grateful for my whole life, and these people in the overworked health care professionally are certainly part of this. They're risking their lives to save those of strangers. If you are going to forget about that so easily, you're probably kind of a butthole.

And I have not ever heard him cry since he was 2 months old. He is now home and 15 months old but I have not ever heard him speak. Intubation is very scary. You are most of the times sedated and nurses and doctors just keep you sedated to keep you "comfortable"; as it is not comfortable at all having a big instrument down your throat connected to a vent trying to help you breathe. Prayers for everyone.

Their empathy, compassion, efforts & sacrifice is inspiring & worthy of praise although no amount of praise would ever be sufficient enough to express the amount of gratitude that the world owes them. What we can do in return to contribute toward their well-being is to adhere to the rules of social distancing, self-isolation/quarantine & hygiene with rigid discipline as well as having each other's backs. Don't hoard, buy only what you need & leave the rest for others. And most importantly, stay positive.
