2021 lariat Tremor for only $11,700? Just a little bent haha
This is the start of a really fun project truck and I’m excited to be sharing my process with it. There is a lot to like about these trucks! And definitely curious how it will hold up compared to the old faithful Toyota.
Modified Stock
Tacoma Ranger
4x4 4x4 + terrain mods
Lockers f+R Rear
240hp est (supercharged) 270 hp 310tq turbo
4 speed + overdrive 10 speed auto
18 gallon tank 18 gallon
4:88 gearing 3:73 gearing
Super similar with the Ranger having some abilities I’m really interested in. Option for a 37 gallon replacement tank. Better/easy freeway cruising mpg at 80mph. More comfortable interior for long haul road sections. Modern transmission.
Wow what a steal! 💕 nice job cleaning it up and getting that frame back in order 👍
Good to see the new project. Look forward to seeing your progress.
I’m definitely excited for this build. I’m glad you went with this truck.
This sounds like an opportunity for a lot of these with the stock bumper location creating that bending moment in the frame. You are the right guy for this!
This build is going to be awesome. Congratulations on the new truck.
Could you make a video of your copart experience, with tips and tricks. Thanks! Love your videos
Your truck moves comfortably at high speed with the supercharger. The screen being relocated to the top really gives it a modern touch. Nicely done.
Looking forward to seeing this build come to life! As a previous Gen 5 Ranger owner with a Gen 6 on the way, I'll say you made a great choice!
I can't wait for the new build. I would love to build one for my 2006 Tundra
Nice work on the frame restoration
found you for the 270 shade - subbed to watch this project 👍
Awesome! Most importantly, these projects are needed for more content. I'd love to see a new project flipped whenever ones finished.
woo, i own a 2022 XLT Ranger Tremor. Really looking forward to your build.
I’m a Toyota guy but think this is so dope! Your mission statement makes sense to me 👍 Can’t wait to see future episodes
Pass and then get back over my guy. 😂 Well done on fixing that frame. I'm super excited to see the rest of the build. I totally understand needing a project.
“Twin turbos, wee!” What a kid! ❤
Just picked up a 2004 xtra cab, 5 speed manual with 170k miles and hardly any frame rust for $11,500. Flew to Denver and then drove 3 1/2 hours to Aspen to pick it up. It made the 12 hour drive back to KC so i’d say I got a deal🤣
Looks like the puppy chewed on the seat-belt latch, stereo knob, etc. Nice looking project truck, great price for such low miles and minimal damage. 😃
Your kids are awesome. The boy is exactly like my middle daughter, FULL THROTTLE, ha. Can’t wait for this series.
Great video.
Drive in the right lane if not passing. Other than that love everything about you!! 😊
So true!
Very exciting!
"This things gonna rip!" He gets it!
Nice start to the build. Once you do the flatbed, eBay those tail lights. It'll offset some expenses!
Can’t wait to see this get built out
1KD-FTV (or older gen) swap would be a pretty cool series
GREAT BUY! I looked for months in 2023 for a 4x4 Taco or Ranger and finally got an xlt supercap 50k miles for $30k, OUCH! I have Taco envy, but enjoying the Ranger. One of the biggest things is the mpg. Some people added aFe Magnum Force scoop and BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel. Thoughts? Can't wait to see what you do to this FFR!
Im excited about this build, rangers and hilux are super famous here in Southern Africa, im stocked 🤝🔥
Cant wait to see what you cook up. I find it so odd that theres hardly any of these new rangers in my area. I work at a truck/jeep shop on mostly new vehicles(lift kits etc) and in 2 years I have only had 2 or 3 of these come in. Compared to like 50 mavericks and bronco sports and 500 jeeps etc etc. These and Colorado's are so rare here
Finally a video! Seeing IG shorts wasn’t enough… what size tires did you go with?
I bought a a 3rd gen taco rebuilder with 7k miles on it. It is awsome so far. Being hit in the back did it kink the frame at all? Yep min was bent right there at the spring perch also. I have a buddy with a body shop and he put it on the frame machine and straightened it out.
Great job man! Those Ranger frames aren't too expensive as a whole either (latest revision still 2019). Even if you had to get a whole new frame for that beast. That still would've been a steal!
Wasting no time getting into it, I love it! I’m sure this was another point that you considered, but the older vehicles are getting harder to find uncommon parts for. I have a 98 Ford E450 and I’ve found myself scouring eBay for “new old stock” more than a few times.
Awesome! How did you arrange shipping?
nice find. great job on the fix. obd2 showing any codes?
Nice driving at 1:30 lol
So stoked for this build! Got a 2020 hail damaged Ranger back in November and it’s been great in the AZ backcountry. You planning on making the camper removable on this one too?
Check exhaust for leaks. That rear end collision could have contacted the rear tailpipe and pushed the whole exhaust forward which could even affect the manifold all the way at the front. Had it happen on a Nissan Altima years ago after a rear end collision. It caused the manifold to leak and at other locations along the exhaust.
just found your channel & I'm enjoying it. But man it drove me nuts to watch you driving in the left lane not passing anyone...
What a steal! I would have definitely snagged a Ranger for that amount with that kind of damage.
Been a while since I watched your video, and love the vlog style, but I have to say, when you’re driving the Tacoma, it’s hard to hear what you said when the camera was facing you. Could hear you really well when it was facing the dash.
when do you think the bed will come back off for the flat bed?
At around 6 mins in, totally agree. Toyota trucks may last a long time but the ergonomics for those of us over 6’ tall are, um, not good at all. It really feels like any money I’ve saved on repairs has been spent at the chiropractor.
Same! I had to trade in my Tacoma because my back was killing me. Moved to a 1st gen Tundra instead.
get a 2nd gen Tundra. I know a guy who's 6'6" with permanent back pain from an injury who won't ride in anything else lol
Congratulations. Great to see you finally picked up your own new to you Ranger. This is going to be a fun build! Definitely an amazing work/overland rig. Best in class with both towing and payload. Not to mention the turbo always puts a smile on my face with the 10 speed transmission. ☺️ We love our 2019 XLT FX4 setup! 🛻+⛺️=🙂! Well I’m glad you didn’t buy one knew! How much is the salvage title insurance on it for you?
I’m positive you already made a video about the new truck getting it and it showing up at your house? Is this a different truck from the blue ranger?
Yes this is the white one haha my dad’s in the blue one. Very similar damage. But after seeing his and fixing it, it pushed me to get my own!
Heck yeah! Does your family fit that much better in it than the Taco?
My man again using AirPods for ear protection!? Trust me I know the convenience as I used to do it but it’s giving you a false sense of protection! If anything maybe reach out to a company like isotunes. They might want to sponsor you during this build as they sponsor other KZheadrs (mainly woodworkers). Anyhow, keep up the good work!
I’ll look into them thanks!
Grinders are usually 110ish decibels. AirPods reduce sound by 27ish decibels. Anything over 85 decibels continuous use is hearing protection worthy. I’d say some good music or a podcast is worth being on the fence for moderate use. Isotunes have the same decibel reduction rating as AirPods 😬
Man, all that work to straighten the frame. Shoulda just bob’d it, thrown some super duties and 40s on it and be on your way. 😅😂
Haha couldn’t have just left it and put 40s on it! Super bob
Whoops I forgot to mention my bed is trashed so a flatbed is necessary
I bet you the 4wd issue is the solenoid on t case is seized. Been sitting long enough it seized up. That's my guess
What size wheels and tires did u go with
For 8 hours and change, can’t complain too much! I’d rate this as a smokin’ deal.
Yes sir! It’s looking a lot better now too. Video 2 on Monday and I’ll show the clean up!
best days are upload days
Let's gooooooo!!!
Judging by how leaned back those seats were I’d say prob fentanyl on the seatbelt 😂
Does it drive down the road crooked?
No sir! Got it aligned and all within spec
man get out the fast lane lol
My 1999 Toyota Tacoma. It's got over $400000.
Random but what kinda watch are you wearing?
Not at all, I love my watch. It’s a seiko skx007 that I modified. It has a seiko monster dial in it. I have a photo on my community page
@@OverlandUnderBudgetdude haha so sick. I just bought an skx007 a couple weeks ago. Love them.
Just seems like whoever owned this car prior didn’t take care of this thing no respect, hopefully you don’t have any engine problems in the future
What was wrong with the 4*4
Fixed it! It was a relay that was in the wrong position. I think at one point someone swapped it with the fuel pump relay. Maybe at some point it wasn’t starting and that was something they thought could fix it but sure but works perfect now!
my dude you gotta get out of the left lane if you aren't passing
What if you’re going 10+ over the speed limit already? Haha but yes I was watching that back and thinking the same thing
@@OverlandUnderBudget I'd be passing just to get a look at the rig. Not everyday that you spot an overland truck with a tray bed. Also, use your turn signals!!! Huge pet peeve.
Forscan for features you hate, few recalls on that year, check with dealership and run vin. Neutral before 4h/L - 5 years in 3 fords with issues I went back to Toyota. Good luck with the build though and hope it’s lasts as long as the taco!
This video is weeks, if not a month, behind his Instagram. His transfer case shifting issue was due to a bad relay.
Noooooo! Every knows Ford stands for Found On Road Dead! I guess I can’t blame you for 11k price tag but these day insurance companies will total out anything with frame damage. You should probably get an alignment before locking in that rear end.
Yep, got it aligned 👍
"No major problems, except for blowing up the transmission." Someone drank the Tacoma Kool-aid! Haha
Haha twas a joke 😅
You should be in neutral or park to engage 4wd
Correct for 4low but not for 4H. You can engage that while driving. And I found the fix! One of the relays was swapped in the engine bay. No idea why, but it’s working like a charm now!
I would be so mad if I got one that was full of dog hair/smell and chewed up interior
While driving and recording your monologue not one time did you use your lane indicators. You share the road with motorcyclists so show the same compassion for other drivers as you do when you show up to a trashed out campsite.
Totaled and NO AIRBAG deployment?
Frame damage is instant total in most cases.
@@amorton94 Are you trying to make an excuse for this?
@@MrWeeble19 Huh? I'm telling you what happens. There's frame damage, in front of the rear shackle no less, so it's totaled. That's just how it works. 🤷
@amorton94 I already "know" what happens. Keep feeling "warm and fuzzy" about all your safety features on your vehicles. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 My point was that the frame is just as strong as a wet paper bag.
@@MrWeeble19 WTF are you even on about? You're one of those guys that everyone thinks should be on meds, ain't yah? Micah explains it pretty well in the video. It's just simple physics. Not surprised that you can't grasp it. 😂 Your "point" was being surprised that it was totaled despite the lack of airbag deployment. I pointed out that frame damage is an instant total by insurance in most cases. You started going off the rails about irrelevant shit after that. Whatever bud, have a good one. 👍
