  • I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate the fact that the characters speak Nahuatl, it's just a bit of additional detail but adds SO much in my opinion, to this overall amazing animation. I could no doubt watch an entire movie about these characters and this world.

    • @@Elfenlied8675309 dying for what one of them believed was right was dying needlessly. We don't know with certainty of they died at the end - though likely - but if they did, they died killing or at least wounding an evil tradition. Maybe their priest was a prophet kind of figure, one that can't be replaced because he's sent by the gods. If they try replacing him anyway, people might start to realize it's all bullshit. If he is just a guy who underwent some kind of ritual and they can get the next psycho into office by friday, at least that one guy got what he deserved, plus they might have sown some doubt. And they are still dying for what one of them believes is right, it's just the other one.

    • @@badlydrawn7476 thats from our point of view. Saying something one believes in is wrong is. .. Difficult... Especially if thats 500 years ago. To these people dying for a better harvest, better weather or good ods in battle was necessary. Their stance in death and sacrifice was probably very different from ours. If you believe death isn't a final thing and the end of all, sacrifice of your current 'form' is not as big of a deal. Not to forget that if the society as a whole thinks of sacrifice as a great honor and service to their gods, why would you think otherwise? Hell, not long ago 'dying for your country' was for some desirable or a honor at least. And where's the difference there? Dying to deffend your country so the inhabitants have a better time or dying so the harvest is better so the people have a better time. If one believes your sacrifice helps, there is no difference Thank you for listening to my TEDtalk

Now we have sinence that eliminates beliefs that are counter productive. They lacked education so it was inevitable, but still, if they relyed more on logic than beliefs the future generations would progress at a MUCH faster rate. Our time would have been years into the future if they did a better job. Dont get me wrong though, how were they suppose to know?

  • I will be 100% transparent here: I was initially drawn in cause I was like “The hell!? Tits in my recommended feed?!” But I ended up staying for the enthralling story and amazing art work, the stylized nudity wasn’t even a factor anymore. • Aight, Imma just shed some light into this. I'm a Mexican. I know the cultures that lived here and their rituals were... Not considered very 'humane'. But please know: -being sacrificed was considered an honor. Depending on the culture, it was mostly done to allow the Sun to rise again the next day (given the sun was very important for them, and most were done on specific situations), and only a few people were chosen for it. They prepared them since they were children and treated them with very high respect and privileges. -when the conquerors arrived, they exaggerated the number and way this rituals were performed. They were just trying to avoid pissing off their own gods and deities, which I bet in every culture isn't a good thing I am in no way trying to make it seem as a good thing, I'm not, cause in the end they w e r e actually k1lling people. Just trying to share some information as to why they did so. Great animation, tho!

  • I love how in the beginning, they are illuminated by a blue glow. Blue is a very peaceful color, and it shows how as they bathe in the water they are somewhat calm. It also seems to show the sisterhood pf the women. Suddenly though, it becomes red as they make their way up the pyramid. It shows the fear of the girl and the violence around them. It also matches the blood, contrasting with the calm blue water. When the girl is battling with saving her friend or sticking to tradition, it becomes blue again, possibly relating again to sisterhood. After killing the executioner, the world around them becomes white. I’m not sure how this plays into color symbolism, but it might show the hard truth of the situation. They feel blank, because they may have saved themselves, but they’ll still die in the end. It’s a bit hard to tell but it is a lovely short film.

  • Wow, escaping the tight grasp of dogmatic religion is not an easy task. The examination of it through our knowledge of other religions that really encapsulated the lifestyle of the people themselves is a fascinating way of looking at this topic. The entire culture itself is surrounded by their beliefs. The image of the woman praying. The home that was created by her prayer and the small cracks that eventually crumbled her entire world- its a perfect rendition of what that feels like. Many of us go through these feelings. I myself was raised in a religious cult and at one point it felt like everything was crumbled around me. Wow what a powerful animation.

They are confused as being one and the same but I will believe, unless proven resoundingly wrong by earnest scholars, that the tribal custom that can supersede the Quran at times is not part of the book itself. The Hadith is an option and addition to Muhammad's own exact teaching. You don't have to have a beard. You don't have to stone people. You can tell me otherwise so long as you can do so without the bias of an Ethno National Socialist.

    • @ShogunBean do you have facts and Evidence saying that one religion is right. 23 thousand different religions and beliefs since mankind created the first religion. So how do you know christianity or catholic which the Spaniards followed is the right one that speaks the truth. Do you actually believe Noah fit 2 kinds of every Species of animals into a boat that's half the size of the titanic or some being created the earth and the universe what about the flood that covered 90% of the planet. If you new your history you would know 43% of the religion's we have today are copies and rewritten from Ancient samarian text. So who says Samarian religion isn't the right one. Religion has been rewritten and changed so much that it's impossible to determine truth from fiction. I believe there was a man name Yeshua which you would know as jesus. But as for the Miracles he has done in the bible is impossible unless you believe in unicorns and Leprechauns or there was technology of some kind involved that we don't know about. I believe he has died on a cross for our sins anything before or after that is nothing but fiction unless you can provide Evidence saying otherwise. And don't worry bout me my life is good with those guidelines..
