Peter DeBoer: A Legacy of Failure
We tired to warn em.
Urinatingtree should get on this immediately
The way he put in Dadanov for no reason makes me feel insane
@@jonathanpayne4772 I'm sure he will as soon as we fire him
Kings next HC? They seem to like former SJ HC's.. Oh wait, David Quinn.. Oh no.. Pls no.. 🤣
This is turning out to be the Peter Deboer special. Great in regular season and then fall flat in the playoffs.
Getting rid of him was the best thing the Knights had done
And getting Cassidy from the Bruins is the single most best decision ever.
the fact that deboer keeps bringing steve spott with him everywhere he goes, absolutely boggles my mind.. deboer is good, but surrounds himself with weak assistants. knights pp was abysmal under spott.
@@chadanthony6231honestly.. I dunno. Maybe Spott truly is the "brains" of the operation.
I was thinking the same thing, playoff hockey is different - and it seems like Deboer can't finish through...
Honestly, this shouldn’t be a surprising result to too many people. Vegas started the season 11-0-1, which was just about the only time all year that they were fully healthy. Dallas clearly wanted no part of the Knights, given last year’s playoffs and this year’s regular season series. It seems as though Vegas knows exactly how to neutralize Dallas’s attack, and it’s caused the Stars to get in their own heads. Bruce Cassidy has proven to be tactically superior to Peter DeBoer, and he has his team playing with much more energy and intensity. Dallas could, of course, turn it around, but because they now have to win in Vegas twice, it might already be too late. They look as good as toast to me
Well, also, most of these players played under PDB so they know how his strategies got dismantled on their team, so they know how they do it against Dallas. Lots of shots from the point, pray for a tip or clean up in front of the net. It's also why Vegas was so out shot game 1 but it didnt matter. Most of those were so low danger it was fine.
The offensive-zone system for Dallas plays perfectly into the hands of what Vegas wants to do on defense. One of these games Dallas will put together a few tips in front of the net and prevent a sweep... but the reality is the only chance Dallas has of stringing together offense is off the rush. And that's just so damn difficult to do when Vegas has Braden McNabb, Alex Pietrangelo, or Alex Martinez on the ice 100% of the time.
I was surprised the channel votes were such in favor of the stars i highly doubted that

Dallas now 0-6 vs Vegas in the playoffs with Jamie Benn in the lineup.
Vegas is playing an excellent game. Dallas didn't score a goal 5 on 5 tonight. In fact, they barely came close. Last game they tried to skate around them. In this game, they have decided to hit everything that moves. Neither worked so far. I would say its not that Stars dont play like a top team in the West, they are simply not allowed to.
barely came close is insane
Dallas had plenty of good chances, some games the puck just doesn’t go in the net and the goalie plays a great game and that’s what happened tonight
@@sgtsalt3578 Well I guess. Maybe barely close is too harsh of a statement. They had their looks. But goalies played well on both teams when it happened. Vegas was just much better upfront and on defense
@@sgtsalt3578they got shut down in the second and third periods
@@sgtsalt3578some quality chances. But mostly in the 1st. Maybe those 2 good saves by Thompson late in the second but that’s all I can think of. VGK is hard to play against up front. Their defense doesn’t really allow quality chances. Seemed like Vegas had a handle on what was going on all third period.
Oilers fans right now: 😰 _"we just dodged a mortar shell"_

@@daved1535 Ain't gonna be a Vegas shell until possibly the WCF, they're playing through the Central this time around.
@Anonymous74916 You are correct, my bad. I thought Vegas was getting Edmonton, but it is the winner of Col vs win
Welcome to Peter DeBoer hockey. Fun regular season, only to get tactically outmaneuvered in the playoffs because he's stubborn
Come on Dallas you gotta be better than that. At home in a must win game, your goalie is keeping you in it and you go and put up one goal? This is gonna be a quick series at this rate.
I was resistant to cries of Dallas greatness until late in the season. and then I, too, fell for the claims of a deep run, particularly with so many other teams in the west having flaws on raw display. Boy, do I fell dumb now. 🤣

Could you imagine if Vegas swept Dallas in the first round, beat Vancouver in the WCF and beat Boston in the SCF? Shannon would never forgive them.
Who is shannon
So disappearing in the playoffs isn't just a Cowboys thing
At least the Stars lose to good teams in the playoffs
I just keep reminding myself that the Rangers won the world series!
They went to the Stanley cup finals in 2020 and the WCF last year. They are not comparable
Lol😂 that was harsh!!!!
New conspiracy theory. Kings beat the Blackhawks so the Golden Knights could take out Dallas.
I am making the tin foil hats now, what size is your head😂😂😂
only works if the kings finally slay their dragon known as the Oilers. Also if you do it and Leon goes elsewhere and Connor follows it the next year you will have truly killed them.
It's more likely that Vegas deliberately tanked the last game vs. Anaheim because being in Dallas and then Winnipeg/Colorado's bracket is a way better matchup for them than being in Edmonton/Vancouver(before losing Demko)'s bracket.
@@brianhum8765yea not really. Colorado and Dallas are both more dangerous than Edmonton and Vancouver . More likely they just didn’t really care who they played and just wanted to get in and deal with whoever they got, they’re confident and think they can beat anyone. And they can beat anyone as long as they stay healthy and can stay on their game.
@@brianhum8765 i would think they rolled the dice for this very thing considering they sat a number of players the final game to "nurse injuries".
DeBoer style hockey does not work against the Knight. They know him and how to play his teams. The biggest issue with DeBoer is that he will not make any changes in an attempt to win. He will keep with the same stuff and eventually fail.
@@DubeSkins-ok2dvok Peter
@@DubeSkins-ok2dvThe Golden Knights have either faced Peter DeBoer or been coached by him in every single season they have played. Nobody knows DeBoer’s system as intimately.
Great game for Vegas, Thompson tightened up, and looked good. Vegas protected him, and shut down Dallas. If Vegas keeps playing like this, it definitely could be a Sweep.
People really looked at a Vegas team that was nearly the exact same as their cup winning team but with even better players added in at the deadline and thought theyd go out round 1. Doesnt make sense to me.
I mean, at one point late in the season they were out of a playoff spot. I think most people who thought they might go out were saying that though that they would.not get their injured players back.
Many people have alot to say things they dont know sh1t, this wasnt surprise this was expected.
Fans of other teams and sleeping on Vegas. Its almost becoming a tradition in the last 8 years. Have you noticed there hasnt been a single year of Knights history that fans havent had something to be upset with?
This is the physical game I was expecting in Game 1. VGK is not playing like the 2nd wild card and DAL is not playing like the #1 seed, but, at the end of the day, I'll take it. VGK seasoned D core is shutting things down. VGK has flipped the script and now has home ice advantage, but they've always been comfortable playing on the road.
I think is cruel of the hockey gods that half of the goals scored by VGK was either score or assisted by Hertl, Hanafin or Stone
I think it’s smart acquisitions by the knights. Nothing more, nothing less
I was thinking the same things. Stone and the guys they acquired by using stones LTIR are lighting it up. Unreal.
@@ponyboy976511/16 of playoff teams are over the cap. VGK has a savvy front office. The GM, players association, and owners all have already voted to keep the rule around. If you don’t like then don’t watch hockey. I personally believe that it brings more exciting playoff hockey which = more viewership = more money all around for players/franchises which means more good hockey and more people watching. It really doesn’t translate to anything bad, other than a few salty people who can’t handle their team losing and not taking advantage of the rule as well.
@@justafaze4552 Its not just a few people, and you can have a loophole until it's abused to the point that its just too far - most fans seem to agree Vegas has hit that "too far" point. If you want more $ and viewership pissing off fans probably isn't the best thing to do
@@justafaze4552 Bro take a deep breath and chilllllll. I was just making an observation about the irony of the situation. Be at peace my brother in hockey fandom.

I’m glad Martinez played over Hague. He showed he’s veteran leadership tonight!
Hague is injured, but yeah.
Whitecloud shouldn't have ever been in over Martinez
@@michaelpoteet4171 I disagree. I would even take Hutton over Martinez based on what we've seen this season. "Veteran leadership" on a Stanley Cup defending team is entirely overrated. That being said, Martinez had an excellent game. The fact that Vegas has 9 legit NHL defensemen is simply unfair.
I think DeBoer's post game conference was telling. He stopped just short of saying, "Wow, Vegas is really good, They got us on the ropes, and I have no answer." If I was a Dallas fan I'd feel hopeless. As a Wild fan, hopeless is my middle name.
It's the Peter DeBoer special. A man so full of himself and so convinced his system is utter perfection, because he is perfect after all, that he is incapable of making even the smallest possible adjustment to a gameplan.
Unless it involves putting in whoever his favorite inept/injured veteran is while energetic young guys sit in the pressbox
@@TheFusionmixfr veteran presence is overrated especially if it’s is some absolutely cooked fossil.
The good news for Pete DeBoer: There's a new opening at San Jose'!
Omg he was there already 😂
Thompson was amazing tonight. I doubted him on Monday after the 3rd goal, I was wrong.
Dallas is losing because VGK is doing the little things... on their first goal, Barbashev's back-check, steal, and pass to Eichel is a perfect example
Dallas may be down two but they are playing some old school hard hitting hockey. It’s a hell of a series so far and not over until it’s over! Go Knights Go!
They can hit all they want if your not creating goals it doesn't matter Vegas has been suffocating them defensively
@@tyian6728this is a Deboer problem much like when he was with Vegas. Eerily similiar how VGK also got suffocated by Dallas in 2020 and he made 0 adjustments.
@JC051210 I had forgotten about that awful series
Same thing happened against Montreal in the semifinals. VGK was smothered, no adjustments by DeBoer and of course Carey Price in net.
Look how that turned out for Radko Gudas and Matthew Tkachuk last year. Now Dallas wanted to bang with Vegas and look how it’s turning out for them too. Faksa and Marchment out. However you want to play Vegas will match and their D will shut your stuff down.
The scary thing is, that probably 80 percent of this current VGK roster will be coming back next year. And knowing how aggressive their front office is, I would not be surprised if they make another big trade this year to make them better.
True for defensemen (everyone of note is locked up for next year other than Martinez, who is likely not returning). Not so much for forwards. Marchessault and Stephenson are both UFAs, and both returning seems unlikely as both are due raises. Mantha, Carrier, and Amadio are also all UFAs.
@@Utred2012 I think Mantha, Carrier, and Stephenson get shipped out. I don't know if that and any other moves will let them keep Marchessault, but man I hope they lock him down. Of course, Marchy had a career year following a MVP playoff run, so if he's in it for the money (and who would blame him) he can get a fat contract somewhere else. I'd like to see the VGK keep Amadio. He's been developing his game really nicely and has had some clutch moments this season while other guys were out.
VGK going for the back-to-back Stanley Cup.
Yeah honestly after tonight THG could've just written "VGK wins series 4-0" because Dallas matches up so poorly to Vegas and they aren't even trying it feels like. It's unfortunate but it's the reality. If we win even one game in Vegas I'd be stunned.
Ye of so little faith.
If Vegas doesn’t go back to back it will be because they beat themselves or injuries pile up in later round. Too much talent and depth
Jeez 5 days in and my faith in my west bracket is in freefall
I was really hoping the Jets would find their mojo but they fell to pieces in game 2.
I hate Vegas but there’s no denying they are a powerhouse in the playoffs.
This vegas team is massive, opportunistic and so damn good defensively... it had to be vegas. 🤦♂️ I truley hope its jsut a bad match up for dallas and they dont just run through everybody again. Dallas just cant penetrate in the offensive zone. Vegas just always has sticks in the way and are making it look easier than the scores or the shot clocks say and theyre only going to get better. Wow oettenger played so good though. Proud of him. Anyways solid review shannon.
Is this Vegas team the scariest 8-seed since LA in 2012? Can’t think of another (aside from Columbus sweeping Tampa but that one’s just funny)
Maybe I'm really biased but I think they're even scarier especially with the way they can smother you defensively
Florida would ask for a hearing to be considered for their 2023 playoff run.
@@jeffreyclinard2002 honestly I completely forgot they were the 8 last year, they’re definitely in the mix! The pure domination of the first 3 rounds (and growing up in LA) made that ‘12 team stick out. Florida last year was definitely dominant through 3 rounds as well. Until they ran into Vegas

I'm a Stars fan, and I'm not going to say Vegas is cheating. I blame the NHL for allowing it. Of course, teams are going to do what Vegas is doing if the NHL allows it. If Jamie Benn was on IR, I'm sure the Stars would do the same thing to save on all that cap space. Vegas isn't cheating, but the NHL is allowing them to have a distinct advantage with extra money they were able to spend
@DubeSkins-ok2dv I'm saying they aren't cheating. The NHL allows teams to do this. If the NHL allows this, teams are going to start faking injuries just to save on all that cap space. Seguin would be a perfect player for Dallas to do that with. He makes like 9.5 million and isn't a big part of the team
@DubeSkins-ok2dv What they are doing is within the rules of the NHL, but it is giving them an advantage. If you want to call that cheating, you can
As an Avs fan, I was okay with losing the division race late in the season because I figured whomever won the division was going to have to face Vegas in the first round. While I might regret my choice in the next couple of days, I'm more confident against Winnipeg than I am against Vegas and Vegas seems to be proving me right.

Vegas defense was impossible to penetrate tonight. People are acting surprised as if they havent been injured all year and coasted into playoffs hoping to be healthy. Now you have a loaded healthy roster and it looks like it. Scary part is they will only get better. Their 3rd line isnt producing all that much. But it isnt even needed. Hanifin is worth 10 million. Insane to think their defense will continue to be this good for at least a few more seasons.
Even though Stone and Hertl scored in Game 1, both goals came on the PP. I'm excited to see that line start to click for some scoring in 5 on 5 play. Also, Playoff Wild Bill hasn't even engaged yet. It's like the team is in first gear still and it's already doing some serious damage.
Have you considered why Vegas got rid of deboer now Dallas?
Well it's over
DeBoring needs out as HC in Dallas, he literally can’t adjust at all, and when he does “adjust” it’s terrible; Pavelski gets moved to Johnston and Benn? Amazing, let’s put two slow old guys together, that’ll work. And our 4th line was buzzing throughout the season so now that Dadonov is back let’s break up that chemistry just to have him in?
Stars are one of my favorite teams, but I'm honestly starting to see them the same way I see Toronto now. Doesn't matter how well they do in the regular season, when the going gets tough, they just don't achieve.
