I am still waiting for the delivery of my adapter. The best news is I received the title for my Mack-E GTPE free and clear from my lender. My Mack-E loan is completely paid off after a few months of ownership. Happy Saint Patrick's day to me!
💯 on the Tesla comments. They make a great car and deserve all the credit for 1) validating the EV market and 2) building out (by far) the best charging network. I’ve road-tripped Model Ys twice (including through the Canadian Rockies in February) and it was a great experience. Sadly, the cars hold zero appeal for me, but my MME never fails to put a smile on my face. Vivre la difference!! 😁
Excellent info all in one place. Thanks, folks! ⚡
Thanks Steve! - Liv

Nice having your mach-e in the background.
Yay!
Very informative video. Thanks for helping us learn how to use this new feature.
Liv and Patrick, another great voice. Love this format of answering a handful of questions on a particular topic
Wow!!! It was really really nice to meet you at the Carlsbad Ev event!!!
Oh yay! What's your name? So I can put a face to your username! - Liv

Oh awesome! It was so nice to meet you and Philip yesterday and finally put a name to MrSquareart! I recall you commenting on our videos for years! I so appreciate chatting with you guys and Philip sharing his experience. I tried to find a potential product that might work for the door closing difficulty and I think that these mini massage hooks might have potential. I'd love to hear what he thinks about it! amzn.to/49eyvJE or amzn.to/43wGv7C oramzn.to/43DZOvN or amzn.to/4a9SWsG Small massage hook or mini massage cane seems to be the good key word search in Amazon. - Liv
Great video, I own a model-s and love it, I also love your mach-e and plan on getting an R1S for my wife. My neighbor has a mach-e and is so happy he can charge on tesla's network now. I'm for whatever it takes to push EV growth
Great information! Thank you for putting this all together.
Great content as always! We took the plunge and bought a 23 Premium, extended range, RWD last Thursday. Ordered the adapter while still in the showroom. Delivery date says September. We have already put 750 miles on the car. Loving it so far.
Good info thanks
Thank you for answering the security question. I look forward to getting my adapter and getting back on the road!
I just pre-ordered the Lectron for our XC40. We have a long road trip planned for the summer and I figured I'd just hope that Volvo gets turned on and I have an adapter in my possession before we go. I selected the Lectron because of Tom's complaints about the manual lock switch on the A2Z and a generally familiarity with the Lectron brand. I'll be interested in seeing it reviewed.
We're supposed to get the Lectron on Tuesday and will be testing it out. I'm hoping the locking mechanism is better, too.
Great video, thanks, just got the A2Z adapter and will be doing a road trip this week, will be very nice to have supercharger access with the lightning
Great, helpful content
Thanks Diane! - Liv
You two are outstanding!
Thank you SO much Jo!!💙⚡️ - Liv
Thanks. Great video. Thanks for being great EV ambassadors/ advocates.
Nice setup with your Mach E in the background!
Yay glad you like it! - Liv
Love the channel!
Thank you!
The way to tell V3 from V2 is by looking at them number. V2s are labeled A,B, V3s are labeled A,B,C,D. Look for a C or a D , if you see those letters then the location is V3.
For preconditioning, one can route to a nearby CCS charger. This would work great for Quartzite with the CCS charger so close.
Good point. It takes a little more work for now. I can't wait for them to add the SCs to the nav.
In Old Germany braucht man zum Glück keinen Adapter. Der CCS Anschluß in Europa ist genormt. Danke für euere tollen Videos.
What great diagrams showing how to properly park at Superchargers to avoid taking up extra spots Liv. That's exactly what's needed. I wish it could be posted on every Supercharger station open to all. Tesla -- are you watching? Perhaps you should lend it to your other EV KZhead influencers (with them giving you getting the proper credit, of course) so that they can spread the word on their videos. It might even help you grow your channel with the extra publicity.
Thanks Paul, so glad you find them useful! We will gladly make them available for people to use. We can include a link in our Supercharger etiquette video 💙⚡- Liv
@@MachE_VLOG Great idea with the link. But definitely contact your fellow influencers directly if you can, so they know about it and mention it on their channels. Your viewers can also help spread the word when commenting on other EV channel videos.
@@MachE_VLOG Liv, where's the link to your parking diagram so we let others know about it, with you guys getting the credit, of course.
Great video. Being only a phone app is one thing I do not like about Chargeway. I like planning from my main computer and PlugShare can be accessed from their website. Reasons I did not buy a Tesla include lack of a display in front of the driver and lack of hard controls.
I am leaning more on A Better Route Planner (ABRP) with live data for my route planning and navigation. Now that I got my Ford NACS adapter, I wondered if I would be stuck using Ford Navigation. It turns out ABRP will show and use NACS if you select NACS in the Settings under Chargers & Networks | Type of chargers. I do know that I lose preconditioning. ABRP will show NACS capable superchargers as both Supercharger and NACS. The magic dock superchargers are shown in ABRP as both Supercharger and CCS. ABRP will show CCS as black dots/icons and NACS as green dots/icons.
I have owned 2 Teslas and prefer the Mach-e I own now for many reasons. Buy whatever you like to drive. Test drive everything first.
I’m happy driving any thing EV ! And I am a Shelby GT-500 lover but my Model X is an insane car Mach E might be next once the super chargers iron out
What a comprehensive info dump and in a beautiful location! Did you go biking after filming?
No, but we should have! The trail in the background leads to Oceanside Harbor about 8 miles away.
@@MachE_VLOG next video: Q&A while bike riding! Infotainment at its best!
Haha that sounds like a fun challenge! We definitely discovered how hard it is to talk and pedal without sounding too out of breath when we did our Electric Bike Company review! - Liv
Based on a poll I ran on the Mach-E Forum, it seems only about 70% of Mach-E owners got the Charge Assist SYNC App last fall. It's also not entirely clear which OTA it was in, or "how to get it" if you don't have it.
Yeah, I assumed everyone had it. I'm trying to find out what people that didn't get it can do to get the OTA.
@@MachE_VLOG That would be great - some have speculated that if you missed it, you missed it. Please let us know what you find out! It really is a bit of a mystery right now.
Patrick and Liv, you say at 7:50 that going to the superchargers does not limit your charging speed. I would say you have not noticed it because you’ve never gone to a busy supercharger. Tesla Cabinets only have 360 kW to share among four stations and at a busy station you very well could be cut back, admittedly they do have very large number of stalls and you should do OK. It would be great if you test with several of your Ford buddies at the same station at a low state of charge.
Yeah, I should have known not to believe the Tesla "marketing" on these. It says very clearly on their website that they are 1000 kWh cabinets with 4 stalls meaning each can deliver the max 250 kW simultaneously. But after seeing another comment about this same subject I went and looked into it. They are indeed limited to the power input. They do some really cool power sharing and most people won't encounter any limitations, but I bet we could trigger the limits pretty easily.
I thought I'd give this a try. Saw Tom's video on charging at a supercharger. I do have the Ford adapter on order and expect it to arrive sometime in Septober. I honestly have not needed to publicly charge in four months, even though I only have L1 at home. However, I shop at a grocery store where they have both EVGo and Tesla stations. I didn't really need to charge, but tried yesterday with the Lectron adapter. It did not want to work.
Did you try to activate a charge using the Fordpass app or Tesla app?
@@MachE_VLOG Both. I'll have to wait until Septober when Ford ships me the official one.
@@KaiPonte Hmm... We've tried it on two different cars without the update and it worked with each of those apps. You tried the Lectron NACS Vortex adapter?
@@MachE_VLOG Nope. I just bought it. I'll report back. Thank you both!
Nice day to relax at the park! I'll be curious to see how the "real" Ford adapter compares with your pre-production model. It is good to know that the transition is software based, so other EV owners will likely receive OTA updates only when and if they're authorized. For battery pre-conditioning, I'd suggest that, for now, Ford owners set their navigation to a CCS station nearest the Supercharger, then switch the destination. I'm interested to see which you end up preferring as a 3rd-party adapter: the Lectron Vortex or the A2Z Tiphoon. "Why not buy a Tesla?" That's a question from the muskovite cult. I got RID of my Tesla and now have a much better EV.
Love you guys, we have been enjoying your videos since the beginning but…. you really didn’t answer how you can tell that you have the Tesla supercharger update. The update came through on our lightning without question, but I have yet to see it on the Mach E and at this point in time I am not sure if I received the update and maybe it was prior to my last update, therefore, there is no message in the FordPass app or on sync in the Mach e. So the real question is how do you review all the OTA updates your vehicle has received?
Thanks Mark! Unfortunately there is currently no good way to look at your update history. You can see your most recent update in Ford Pass but if you missed seeing that you got the Supercharger update then there's no good way to see your history. I'd encourage you use the Record Feedback feature and request an Update History tab or something. That would be SO useful to have and we've been asking for it too! - Liv
Additionally can you charge a Mach E on a 24 amp Tesla home charger with a Tesla to j1772 adapter ?
Yes, you can. We have the Lectron Tesla to J1772 adapter and it works great when we use a Tesla Level 2 charger.
Will the Tesla Nav system consider the number of non-Tesla's blocking two stalls? 3 Fords charging at an 8-stall station could block 6 stalls, but the Tesla Nav will show more OPEN stalls available.
No they don't. I wish there was a way we could markt that we were using two stalls so we don't cause any confusion.
@@MachE_VLOG this is probably where the “good will” ends when an EV owner on a long road trip arriving at 10% or less (as they are advised to do to maximize charging speeds) thinking there are plenty of open stalls only to have wait for a stall and unable to go elsewhere given a low SOC. And it gets compounded if slow charging cars like the BOLT are allowed on the network. We all loose until this is addressed. I would imagine Tesla could fix this with a SW update given they will know exactly who is plugged in and can do some math to calculate the number of stalls BLOCKED by non Tesla’s and adjust the displayed stall availability accordingly
The reason is the Tesla app shows number plugged in, not the spaces used. Maybe cameras can be installed to verify space usage.
I wAnt to know if we can use the Adapter and charge before we receive the Tesla priority OTA update ?
Yes, we answer that question in the video.
@@MachE_VLOG omg seriously watched video and must have missed this question . Apologies and thank you . . learning so much from you guys! Mach e owner for 3 wks now
Biggest question of all which company is your favorite charging station
I don't have a favorite and never really thought about it.
Will an extension chord be available?
Tesla and A2Z are working on one.
Will ford retrofit j3400 ports on CCS1 cars?
Nope. Too expensive.
Why not just buy a Tesla? I had a Model Y and the minimalist design just got to me and switched to a Mach-E GT which is equal to a MY Performance. Been happy with Mach E
All good to know information but no very optimistic waiting for that Tesla update my 21 GT is still stuck in updates from March 23 it’s taking forever to catch up to rate my car is updating. I’ll be getting the 2023 October update sometime in 2025.
I see in your ford monitor charge assist mach-E but I don’t see in my Mach-E 2023 please help me find out why I don’t have
Do you have one that says Public Charging? That's the new name. If you don't have either, it will be coming via an OTA update soon.
I am in the same situation. I have a Mach E 2021 that does have the Charge Assist but my 2023 Mach E that I bought in December does not have it.
Same here (my car is a 2022 GT). I have the Tesla plug and charge sw and my Ford Pass app is up to date. But, I do not have charge assist nor do I have the public charging app. This seems to be a common issue with the Mach-e ... some people have charge assist, others do not and there doesn't seem to be any explanation as to why.
September. :< Sounds like third party vendors will be popular. .
Nice job with all the details. Don't know why everyone isn't invited at the same time? Lots of Tesla SuC are already overcrowded. I don't see this a 100% guarantee that everyone will pull into a TSuC and get a spot right away. Tesla drivers will be "fit to be tied" when they see CCS cars taking up stalls they feel they are intitled to. The real answer is massive installation of new stations. Charging an EV should be just like getting GAS. Any port in the storm. Makes me think about going back to GAS after 4 years of EV driving. Done with my rant!
Hey Bill, fortunately this big Supercharger Adapter transition will be bringing over 6 billion dollars to Tesla, so hopefully that will "fuel" the expansion of all those new stations we need! - Liv
@@MachE_VLOG hope my Tesla stock explodes “UP” before I die!
@@MachE_VLOG Yes, it' been said the SuC revenue could be more than the car revenue. Hope they are right!
😂😂😂
BTW, I DESPISE Elon Musk! There I said it! 😛
It's really dumb that non tesla have to jump through hoops to precondition and get the correct price when charging. Kia, Ford, gm, etc need to get with the program and improve navigation and preconditioning logic similar to what vw did recently.
We normally don't have to jump through any hoops. For most chargers, the car's navigation handles it seamlessly. As I explained in the video, the Tesla stations aren't in the nav yet while they iron out the bugs.
Teslas have the same issue, no way to pre-condition for a non-Tesla charger still
@@NorlandBraeOh yeah, I forgot about that. It would be nice to just have an option that says your destination is a charger so the car can precondition no matter what.
Or maybe just the ability to manual start preconditioning.
