Living proof. My farm has 4 dogs, 1 is a male Kangal. 2 times the same kangal killed a wolf alone. Caught it on the vr the second time. Wolf was full grown. Proof is real evidence.

Actually kangals make great family dogs and get along with children! We used to have a pure breed kangal when i was younger and he was like atleast 3 times my height when he stood up!! And also we had lots of coyotes(kinda like coyotes but closer) and stray dogs around the villige and mountains and he would fight em off if they got closer. He also protected me and my family from a wild boar once!!! We were walking along the mountains and forests(our forests and hazelnut trees to check on our harvest) when we came across one and he took it down!! I would also go swimming on his back on the river... those were nice times!! He died of old age years ago. I miss him dude 😭😭😭

He won't want to get injure by the giant dog, and he need to save some energy and hunting for his prey..while the dog doesn't give a fuck and surely fight him to death.. So there's no winner.. Most people who watch videos like this are just going by the stats. Gray Wolf is bigger, faster, has more bite power, blah blah blah, and Kangal is no match. Turkish Shepherds use Kangals because these dogs are extremely territorial and will protect the flock with their lives. Many herders use two, three or more kangals to protect the flock and even a wolf pack will struggle to fight multiple Kangals. It's not primarily about defeating the wolves, it's about stopping them from doing any harm to the flock. If the dogs hold out long enough, the wolf pack will retreat to no avail. That means for the dogs: mission accomplished.

You forgot to mention the fighting style: Wild animals usually ambush, bite, run. And do that all over again. This way they avoid confrontational fighting and therefore they avoid injuries better! Also: A lot of videos showing kangals winning over wolves it's because those aren't grey wolves (or great grey wolves like i adore to call them, referencing the great white shark), but rather steppe wolves! Which are way smaller. Overall i liked this video because it wasn't one of those cocky ones pretending these massive molossoid breeds can win over a fucking grey wolf. Oh and to really make a kangal dog win over a grey wolf you should need at least TWO kangals, so the Wolf can't sneak on any of the two as one of them is always watching the other peer's back. Spiked collars help too because that way the Wolf can't obviously bite their throats, which would end up really badly for the dog.

They're huge, and way stronger, and the wolf is very light and weak which is why a Kangal the same dimensions as a wolf weighs 60-80lbs more. Steppe wolves aren't ''much smaller'' but even if they were, Kangals and similar breeds were imported to America because our Great Pyrenees weren't faring too well. So far, 0 deaths. A wolf will never ambush an LGD, and LGDs always see it coming. They have skirmishes all the time. Even when LGDs are outnumbered wolves don't feel comfortable.

Also no, every reasonable owner of this dog who uses it to protect livestock will tell you they either have 2 of them or just one but with a spiky collar. A wolf ISN'T weak, i don't know where you got that from, they live in the wild they cannot possibly be weak, if they were they wouldn't have survived till that point in their life. Wolves don't usually ambush these dogs BUT if they HAD to fight them they would use the nipping technique i described earlier. Kangals, compared to grey wolves, are weaker, slower, smaller and have a weaker bite, that's just impossible to deny. I'm not saying kangals are not strong dogs, they really are, the strongest even, but compared to a grey wolf which after all is also smarter, they look like teddy bears. Please note that I'm comparing them to grey wolves, steppe wolves are obviously easier to handle, just take a look yourself pal

@@martinaiocco6319 I didn't say they weren't, but they're not too far off. Their weights overlap a bit, some North American wolf populations actually are Steppe wolf sized. It's neither here nor there for the wolf, it won't care. 50lbs, 60lbs, 80lbs, 140lbs... no matter which wolf weight it goes horribly wrong for the wolf every single time against a 150-200lb Kangal. I don't care about whatever videos exist, the Kangal is a giant very strong street dog basically. There is no magic pixie dust sprinkled on them. ''This dog is huge and 2x more robust than this dog, so I think huge robust dog wins.'' That's all I'm telling you and that is Kangal vs wolf. Every reasonable owner of livestock has told me they have a few Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherds that bark at wolves and sometimes fight them. Sometimes the Pyrenees die. If you have 2 dogs you're good to go, even 2 Great Pyrenees would be fine. They're just wolves, and all the dog has to do is say ''fuck with me and I will rip you apart, you hear? Yeah!!! Go away!'' even though if shit hits the fan a Pyrenees would die. You don't need to be strong to live in the wild, wolves have the skeleton of a song bird. A Kangal is 60-80lbs heavier when they are the same height. Wolves run 30 miles a day, and make severe compromises on strength and everything in order to do that. A wolf would not use the nipping technique, lol. The wolf would walk up to the Kangal, try to fight it, and lose. That's in a real fight. If the wolf is nipping evidently they aren't fighting and they're skirmishing, in which case neither party is at risk. A Kangal is about 2x as strong as a wolf, the wolf will be taking much more damage because it's inherently NOT durable at all, a paper plane with gracile marathon runner bones, and whatever biteforce stats are irrelevant as they aren't attacking the same animal. Kangals are one of the top #3 strongest dogs in sheer bulk and strength, but in actual fighting ability and big game predation ability they're not great but better than wolves. There are fighting Kangals as well, those are in the top #3, regular LGD Kangals are a different thing with a lot of variety. And nearly all of them would beat a wolf. Because beating a wolf is not that hard.

@@huntingdogges grey wolves take down huge ass elk, i still don't get why you portray them as "paper planes", they're big and muscular, ignore the smaller individuals, of course there's gonna be smaller individuals, kangals are somewhat the same size among individuals because they're being artificially selected by humans, but if you let them mate as they please then you're gonna have the same variety as that among wild wolf populations. Grey wolves DO get as big as kangals actually, but being big doesn't mean everything. Wolves have a wide set of skills, so saying something beats something else only because of size is a bit poor. And btw I think cunningness is underrated, and as i hope you know already, wolves excel in that, this counts as an additive skill other than basic strength.

Anatolian Kangal dogs (lighter and faster than Turkish Kangals) have taken down kudu. Healthy kudu, at that. Not sickly and weak kudu. Did I mention they've killed leopards? I don't think you understand the significance of that, especially considering it was just a test drive on how effective they are as LGDs in Africa so everyone had one dog. So no pack or anything. Kangals do have the same variety as wolf populations, they can be anywhere from 100-200lbs. They are not artificially selected by humans, when humans do that, like with show dogs, they inevitably become deformed shit. Nature is at the steering wheel for working dogs, an LGD is right out there for the taking by wolves, cougars, bears... they've evolved defenses against those predators and the ones that didn't are dead. Nature churns out the dud LGDs. On the other hand you have ''reputable breeders'' who breed for dog shows. They can put a cap on their breeding failures if they do careful health screening and all that bullshit, but if they just worked the damn dogs all of that wouldn't be necessary. Wolves are not big and muscular, if you saw the Great Dane vs Gray Wolf skeletal comparison that's available on Deviant Art you'd see how the Great Dane is quite literally 2x as robust as the wolf in many areas as it's designed to tackle big healthy dangerous game. Wolves aren't. They're designed to run all day and tackle sick game. You do the research yourself, an average gray wolf is 115lbs and 32'' tall. A 32'' tall Kangal is 200lbs because it's way way way stronger proportionally. A 115lb Kangal next to a 115lb wolf will have the Kangal around 4 inches shorter. Ever heard of the saying wolves have proportionally larger skulls than dogs? It's because they're huge. They're Kangal sized, but the Kangal is 60-80lbs heavier. Same story for Great Danes, Irish Wolfhounds, Bully Kuttas etc. etc. etc. A Dogo Argentino is 115lbs and the wolf is 6 inches taller and 10 inches longer but also 115lbs. Tell me how wolves are anywhere close to as strong as these dogs again? A dog like a Great Dane and Kangal are robust for different reasons, all Kangals need to do is walk around with sheep, occasionally catch food and survive wolf attacks. So why not be huge and strong for the one scenario you will need it. Cunning won't help if the wolf is fighting a Kangal, the most cunning move the wolf could do is not fight the giant dog. And they don't, because guess what... they're inferior.

Kangal is a shepherd dog, a dog that defends sheep and other animals from wolves, but not species like the Gray Wolf, because Gray Wolves do not live in Turkey, they live mainly in some parts of Europe, Asia, mostly in North America, so when Kangal encountered this monster, RIP to Kangal

@@guneyyilmaz9010 you might want to check your facts because even though Turkey’s wolves are gray wolves, they are a smaller sub specie of the North American gray wolf weighing at 80 lbs on average, whereas some the North American timberwolves/grey wolf have weighed in over 200lbs & the average Timberwolf in North America is well over 100 pounds, so the larger gray wolves in North America are twice the size as the gray wolves in Turkey!

I'd say the feline category of predatory animals is the most decent because when they kill an animal it is extremely quick and doesn't make it bleed out for a long time like wolves and others. These felines when in their hunting prime, will snatch a larger mammal by surprise by the neck and quickly, and on instinct, injects it's fangs so that they slide right between the vertebrae and severs the vital connection, and it dies instantly. Just a way of nature showing us how advanced the feline species is at catching their meal. Gotta respect canids too tho because of the most excellent displayal of teamwork and family.

Depends on the prey, most felines hunt prey that is simialr size ot them or smaller hence they can kill them quick, wolves kill such prey quick aswell. But then Felines like lions will attack much bigger prey and they will make it bleed out just like wolves do with big prey, so your comparison is really not accurate at all.

Wolves will chase a herd of Buffalo for days for the right time to attack. They are very precise, intelligent, and they kill on the regular and understand when and how to attack, and they understand that one small mistake means it's over. And their stamina is tenfold that of any domestic dog.

Even lion , tiger etc. if both wolves and dog fight. if incase the dog is dead , it will deal atleast 70% damage to the wolf. the wolf will eventually become prey for other animals. even Komodo dragons would eat anything that his heavily injured

Even within the norms of the Kangal breed, there are different types of Kangals, which show some slight differences in the overall characteristics, temparement and character! In Turkiye, one important aspect while choosing a Kangal is whether it comes from a working line or a showcase line. Those who come from a working line are used as flock guardian dogs; whereas, the latter (which are certainly formidable, too) are bought as pets, show dogs or homestead guardians. However, some Kangals within the working line are again classified as “Kurtcu" meaning specialized in attacking and subduing wolves! No matter what type of wolf is seen superior and whether they are alpha or not, a badass "Kurtcu Kangal" is no joke for any wolf!

And these dogs were selectively bred for centuries to be ruthless killer to defend livestock against predators like wolves. People love to fetishize wolves for some reason but unless we're talking about extreme genetic outliers of some subspecies the Kangal is still like 30-50lbs heavier and overall much stronger. If wolves are alone they're really not that dangerous and even a full grown man who is in good athletic shape wouldn't have much problem 1v1.

A few clarifications. The wolf looks smaller because it is. The wolves in turkey are not the largest, and are on average smaller than the kangal dogs. Larger gray wolves can grow bigger than a kangal, however they look larger when they're the same weight, as a kangal is heavier for how tall it is. In other words a kangal that weights as much as a wolf will look smaller, while a wolf that weights the same as a kangal will look significantly taller. The way this video said it made it sound like wolves are heavy for their size, which is the exact opposite, a wolf that is only slightly heavier than a kangal would be much bigger in size. Wolves in north America and some parts of Europe reach the size of a kangal and even larger. The wolf's top jaw strength estimation is 1500 PSI, with the kangal it is around 700, though I am unsure if either come from a legitimate source. The wolf does indeed have longer fangs than most dogs on average. Lone wolves do better than lone dogs, dogs are still pack animals, as they are a subspecies of the gray wolf.

Kangals are more common to reach a weight of 170lbs and they are best in pairs. We’ve owned some before and I’ve seen one lone kangal fight three wolves for about ten minutes before his buddy arrived and they killed three wolves and scared the other two off. They didn’t have spiked collars or anything . These wolves were American grey wolves to. You just gotta raise your dogs right. You can’t treat them like house dogs and you can’t fully treat them like wild animals.

Wolves in their prime age can kill multiple kengals and it has been recorded and documented by the man responsible for killing most of wolves in North Amareica, Roosavelt. Wolf's skin is tougher, he is much more agile, he has much more endurance, he bites harder and is much more inteligent. Acoording to his history records a wolf attacking and killing two mastif breeds in quick succession was not uncommon. Now afcourse we can find videos of dog killing wolves but for every video like that there is dozen or more examples of the opposite.

Actually kangals make great family dogs and get along with children! We used to have a pure breed kangal when i was younger and he was like atleast 3 times my height when he stood up!! And also we had lots of coyotes(kinda like coyotes but closer) and stray dogs around the villige and mountains and he would fight em off if they got closer. He also protected me and my family from a wild boar once!!! We were walking along the mountains and forests(our forests and hazelnut trees to check on our harvest) when we came across one and he took it down!! I would also go swimming on his back on the river... those were nice times!! He died of old age years ago. I miss him dude 😭😭😭

Most people who watch videos like this are just going by the stats. Gray Wolf is bigger, faster, has more bite power, blah blah blah, and Kangal is no match. Turkish Shepherds use Kangals because these dogs are extremely territorial and will protect the flock with their lives. Many herders use two, three or more kangals to protect the flock and even a wolf pack will struggle to fight multiple Kangals. It's not primarily about defeating the wolves, it's about stopping them from doing any harm to the flock. If the dogs hold out long enough, the wolf pack will retreat to no avail. That means for the dogs: mission accomplished.

You forgot to mention the fighting style: Wild animals usually ambush, bite, run. And do that all over again. This way they avoid confrontational fighting and therefore they avoid injuries better! Also: A lot of videos showing kangals winning over wolves it's because those aren't grey wolves (or great grey wolves like i adore to call them, referencing the great white shark), but rather steppe wolves! Which are way smaller. Overall i liked this video because it wasn't one of those cocky ones pretending these massive molossoid breeds can win over a fucking grey wolf. Oh and to really make a kangal dog win over a grey wolf you should need at least TWO kangals, so the Wolf can't sneak on any of the two as one of them is always watching the other peer's back. Spiked collars help too because that way the Wolf can't obviously bite their throats, which would end up really badly for the dog.
They're huge, and way stronger, and the wolf is very light and weak which is why a Kangal the same dimensions as a wolf weighs 60-80lbs more. Steppe wolves aren't ''much smaller'' but even if they were, Kangals and similar breeds were imported to America because our Great Pyrenees weren't faring too well. So far, 0 deaths. A wolf will never ambush an LGD, and LGDs always see it coming. They have skirmishes all the time. Even when LGDs are outnumbered wolves don't feel comfortable.

If the wolf is nipping evidently they aren't fighting and they're skirmishing, in which case neither party is at risk. A Kangal is about 2x as strong as a wolf, the wolf will be taking much more damage because it's inherently NOT durable at all, a paper plane with gracile marathon runner bones, and whatever biteforce stats are irrelevant as they aren't attacking the same animal. Kangals are one of the top #3 strongest dogs in sheer bulk and strength, but in actual fighting ability and big game predation ability they're not great but better than wolves. There are fighting Kangals as well, those are in the top #3, regular LGD Kangals are a different thing with a lot of variety. And nearly all of them would beat a wolf. Because beating a wolf is not that hard.

A 32'' tall Kangal is 200lbs because it's way way way stronger proportionally. A 115lb Kangal next to a 115lb wolf will have the Kangal around 4 inches shorter. Ever heard of the saying wolves have proportionally larger skulls than dogs? It's because they're huge. They're Kangal sized, but the Kangal is 60-80lbs heavier. Same story for Great Danes, Irish Wolfhounds, Bully Kuttas etc. etc. etc. A Dogo Argentino is 115lbs and the wolf is 6 inches taller and 10 inches longer but also 115lbs. Tell me how wolves are anywhere close to as strong as these dogs again? A dog like a Great Dane and Kangal are robust for different reasons, all Kangals need to do is walk around with sheep, occasionally catch food and survive wolf attacks. So why not be huge and strong for the one scenario you will need it. Cunning won't help if the wolf is fighting a Kangal, the most cunning move the wolf could do is not fight the giant dog. I'd say the feline category of predatory animals is the most decent because when they kill an animal it is extremely quick and doesn't make it bleed out for a long time like wolves and others. These felines when in their hunting prime, will snatch a larger mammal by surprise by the neck and quickly, and on instinct, injects it's fangs so that they slide right between the vertebrae and severs the vital connection, and it dies instantly. Just a way of nature showing us how advanced the feline species is at catching their meal. Gotta respect canids too tho because of the most excellent displayal of teamwork and family.

Even within the norms of the Kangal breed, there are different types of Kangals, which show some slight differences in the overall characteristics, temparement and character! In Turkiye, one important aspect while choosing a Kangal is whether it comes from a working line or a showcase line. Those who come from a working line are used as flock guardian dogs; whereas, the latter (which are certainly formidable, too) are bought as pets, show dogs or homestead guardians. However, some Kangals within the working line are again classified as “Kurtcu" meaning specialized in attacking and subduing wolves! No matter what type of wolf is seen superior and whether they are alpha or not, a badass "Kurtcu Kangal" is no joke for any wolf!

And these dogs were selectively bred for centuries to be ruthless killer to defend livestock against predators like wolves. People love to fetishize wolves for some reason but unless we're talking about extreme genetic outliers of some subspecies the Kangal is still like 30-50lbs heavier and overall much stronger. If wolves are alone they're really not that dangerous and even a full grown man who is in good athletic shape wouldn't have much problem 1v1.

A few clarifications. The wolf looks smaller because it is. The wolves in turkey are not the largest, and are on average smaller than the kangal dogs. Larger gray wolves can grow bigger than a kangal, however they look larger when they're the same weight, as a kangal is heavier for how tall it is. In other words a kangal that weights as much as a wolf will look smaller, while a wolf that weights the same as a kangal will look significantly taller. The way this video said it made it sound like wolves are heavy for their size, which is the exact opposite, a wolf that is only slightly heavier than a kangal would be much bigger in size. Wolves in north America and some parts of Europe reach the size of a kangal and even larger. The wolf's top jaw strength estimation is 1500 PSI, with the kangal it is around 700, though I am unsure if either come from a legitimate source. The wolf does indeed have longer fangs than most dogs on average. Lone wolves do better than lone dogs, dogs are still pack animals, as they are a subspecies of the gray wolf.
The bite strength of a wolf has been measured at 400 psi. But since that was considered a defensive bite it was presumed that they can probably bite stronger than that. But we don't actually know that. So I don't know where the 1000 psi come from

Yeah kangal have been fighting from a long time and are known for their bravery (I appreciate it) but that wolf you see right there ? He is a freaking wild animal who fights daily for his survival not to show he's dominant but to show he's worthy of survival and that size of kangal is because of the beefy reward he got for being such a magnificent creature but that wolf has not gained that weight he has earned that by risking his life every day fighting those yaks Love dogs more than anything but it's not a competition (Well we were able to domesticate kangal (able to bred it would be more appropriate) and couldn't even keep those wolves in a zoo so that's a win right there)

Have you seen a kangal in real life, I have, while I’m not saying it can beat a fully grown North American wolf, it’s not a push over, I’ve seen kangal break metal chains, I’ve seen a kangal eating another wolf( albeit most likely the smaller species of wolf called the Arabian wolf), kangal are the strongest dogs in the world, they have the strongest bite force, but it still pales in comparison to a gray wolf

Kangals are more common to reach a weight of 170lbs and they are best in pairs. We’ve owned some before and I’ve seen one lone kangal fight three wolves for about ten minutes before his buddy arrived and they killed three wolves and scared the other two off. They didn’t have spiked collars or anything . These wolves were American grey wolves to. You just gotta raise your dogs right. You can’t treat them like house dogs and you can’t fully treat them like wild animals.

Honestly I believe the Grey wolf might test the Kangal but not in a 'fight to the death'. More than likely it would go get help rather than risk injury. Wild animals, injuries often mean death as they can't feed themselves if injured.
Wolves in their prime age can kill multiple kengals and it has been recorded and documented by the man responsible for killing most of wolves in North Amareica, Roosavelt. Wolf's skin is tougher, he is much more agile, he has much more endurance, he bites harder and is much more inteligent. Acoording to his history records a wolf attacking and killing two mastif breeds in quick succession was not uncommon. Now afcourse we can find videos of dog killing wolves but for every video like that there is dozen or more examples of the opposite.
