ROG Flow Z13 rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-flow...
Please note: performance is based on multiple factors and could improve over time with updates to BIOS, drivers and software optimization. Using the Turbo fan mode with headphones could give you some performance boost with the cost of battery life and creating more noise. Adjusting the following will likely give you even smoother frame rates:
- lowering graphical fidelity in general
- lowering resolution
- choosing "performance" in upscaling methods such as Nvidia DLSS or AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution
- using the external ROG XG Mobile RTX 3080 Laptop GPU (or similar) with an external monitor
- running Windows 10 (?)
This video is merely an example on what the device can do with specific in-game settings with latest Nvidia driver and Windows 11 updates.
The unit did get quite hot during gameplay . I would not feel comfortable holding the Flow Z13 in hands for long periods of time. Due to the temperature and weight, it's probably intended to be placed on table (or similar flat surface) when playing. I find controller to be the ideal companion for this type of device. In my opinion the screen is simply too small for keyboard and mouse gaming - unless you're using the XG Mobile with an external monitor. It is indeed a versitile device with many ways of using it and it can adapt to various situations.
Personally, I would probably still choose a 15" or 17" gaming laptop with more powerful GPU over this. For certain type of specific scenarios Flow Z13 could be ideal. Overall, I was happy to see it can most games quite smoothly. Except for Cyberpunk 2077. That game seemed have stuttering issues. ROG is currently looking into it and it will probably get fixed with an update.
Let me know your thoughts on this device!

If you saw the history of computers, it started to a whole room, then to a piano sized, then to a capsule, then they flattened it, gets thinner and thinner. Then they removed the keyboard and turned it into a tab. Nice vid btw.
then into a paper clip

It'll be great if Asus (or external companies) begin releasing even more powerful eGPU's down the line. Should dramatically increase future proofing!

To run new modern game at a high setting you definitely need it to be plugged in, it's still amazing how we used to have entire rooms to run computers to now having computers that can fit inside ur pocket
No way a tablet is better than my pc. Its really time to upgrade since everything is getting better and performance higher every year. Great vid btw 👍

It does perfectly fine with the 3050 ti but the improvements with the 3080 are insane

I'm impressed with the thermals to think it's such a compact space inside and with quite high settings for recent games. My ROG GL552VW with 960m would shoot up in the 80+ with these games.

Damm man when you connected that external 3080 gpu it literally obliterated every single game
Thank you for showing realistic gameplay. I’ve been on the fence about getting this because I know it’s overpriced but the form factor is so intriguing. Other reviews kept talking about performance being around 40fps on ultra and it just made me question why the hell are you running anything on ultra if you want performance? I understand the pricing but the 3050 is a 3050, work around it. I’m gonna order mine by next month to treat myself for my birthday, hope it doesn’t disappoint regardless.
how was it? I'm just about to buy one, so I got here. lol.
So…..how is it?
@@Henriburger1 Sorry for getting back to you late, I genuinely didn't see this but I've had a great experience. The CPU bottle necks the rtx 3050. I don't know if the CPU also plays a part in the delay or slow response times when using a mouse. It happens RARELY but it is annoying when it does happen. This doesn't have an ethernet cable unless you use a usb-c dock but that will not be necessary at all. The WiFi 6(I think it is) is great. I don't get any lag in any of the competitive shooters. Overall I'm able to get 100+ fps on Apex, R6 Siege, Rogue Company and more. Games like CoD I was able to average 70-80 fps which is playable. Horizon Zero Dawn was like 50-60 fps. If you see this as a secondary pc or simply a tablet, the experience is great. I've been on break from college so i haven't used the stylus yet so I can't give you much on that end. I bring it with me EVERYWHERE, and I mean EVERYWHERE to the point my gf says "OMG you have it with you again". If you want hardcore gaming you can easily get something more powerful with a better CPU and GPU but for the form factor it's great. The fast charging is great and a necessity because you get more than half the battery charged in 30 minutes. This is greatly appreciated because if strictly used for watching videos the battery lasts only 4 hours, sometimes 5. Gaming even less with maybe 2 1/2 hours depending on the game intensity. Overheating has never been an issue as I've played for 4 hours straight(plugged in) and was perfectly fine. It was hot but not to the point of burning myself. The keyboard is great in my opinion, it is quiet and extremely responsive. The stand is solid which was one of my biggest concerns. My biggest gripe in general is that there isn't many accessories to make it feel more like it's my individual tablet, like Ipads with cases for example. This point however has no real overall effect on the product. So as a secondary entertainment pc/work it is great. As a tablet as well. For hardcore gaming, get something else or you'll be extremely disappointed at the price point because it is steeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
@@RecluseSports Glad to hear its good. I've been interested in the super small form factor PC gaming stuff for a while now. For me, I think this would be better than something like a Steam deck because its still pretty close to a traditional PC but with super good portability. I might have to start saving and get one of these soon.
@@Henriburger1 I also have the steam deck which I use every now and then when I don’t wanna carry much. The main problem with it is the game compatibility because a majority of games I play I can’t on the steam deck. I use it mainly for single player games so if you want something with no barriers at all go with the Z13 1000%. I still recommend the steam deck simply because you can’t beat the price for the performance. Close to a switch’s price and a third of the price from other handheld pc’s. I’ve used Firefox on there and it works perfectly fine. Both have their place in my opinion 🤷🏻♂️
I really want this, wanna send me yours? Lol great video man keep it up! Truly an amazing piece of tech, how far we have come, I’m still rocking my galaxy tabpro s 😂

You're opening up in such detail I want it so much. But unfortunately I have an office computer and a mouse, keyboard, mouse pad and headphones 😢
I’m impressed with 3050 Ti , I have it with i7 11800H and for a 4GB VRAM GPU it runs a lot of games above 60 at medium settings
I think it's a waste of money to buy a laptop with a 3050 rtx, you can get one with a 1660 ti cheaper and it will run more games.

In the beginning it's feel opening box less but murdering more

It's good, but I think they should reserved more space to better thermals, hopefully they can reuse this design and form factor for the zen 4 and Nvidia rtx 40 series, if those are made in 4nm then this design might be better!
The screen is disappointing and why would I need this tablet

I have a question. With every review sample, do you always have to give it back to the company? Or are there times where you get to keep the product? I remember in one of your videos you stated you had to return it. But I was curious if that's the case for all items you receive as a review sample.

This is incredible. Although, given that this is the gaming tablet that us Surface Pro users have always wanted... how does it compare in price? The Surface Pro products have always been notoriously expensive, so this might be a sweet alternative if the price is right.
surface pro 8 can also connect to egpus though
well i do not think that it will be cheaper then 1800-1900 us dolars without tax. Considering approximat tax is about 8-10 percent in USA we can expect it to be 2000-2100 us dolars. Again thats my thought i hope it will be cheaper.

Please unbox the Flow X16.
Never understand why they cannot do like in Surface Pro 8 - to have vent holes along the sides and upperside instead of the back! There are 2 downsides of having vent holes on the back: You cannot have it flat on the bed or surfaces! And 2: You cannot have case on it as easily without blocking vent. That's really sad that they have vent hole on the back!
The air is sucked in from the back, then expelled from the top. No other way to efficiently cool it while keeping the IO.
Me watching this in my 240p phone: The smoothest experience I have ever tried!
I too have Windows 11 in my Legion 5 , but I have a serious question, do you recommend playing games on Win 11 rather than Win 10?
