I can't fathom the dedication to zero maintenance it must take to produce some of these gems.
Man it feels like they not only neglect maintenance but also Find ways to make everything worse
Can't spend $200 in maintenance? Then spend $2000 in repairs. Love the ones about the "egg sauce".

I love it when people say they can't afford oil changes. I ask them what makes them think they can afford an engine change? Even better when it's a beamer bro... I wanna say get a 2007 Camry, you'll have plenty left over for oil.

Yeah fr just Ya annoying how people do this crap. Like the ones that piss me off the most are the people who don’t call a tow truck or replace the tire with a spare if they have it blow out on the freeway and just keep driving and grind down everything to and have to get 2000 dollars in parts when they should have called a tow truck and spend maybe if even 200 dollars on it vrs ten times that
I swear every time I watch one of these videos all I can think about is that these people are on the road with me!!

It's funny cause we repair men aren't engineers, were diagnostic detectives who know how to turn wrenches.
Had a customer complain that the gear change was bad, Rear tyred were fucked and there was hot spots on the tiny bit left of the clutch plate

I saw a rear diff like that in about 75 or 76. Had about 1.3 miles on it. Apparently the guy on the line that installed the cover was pissed about something. He threw a handful of cover bolts in before the cover went on. Real classy.
Damn. I remember once a loooong time ago a mate had a Torana (Australian car) that always had a rattle in the back. One day the car got rear-ended and in fixing the damage, taking off a rear panel there was an empty soda can *inside* the panel. That was no accident either, I bet.
Was it an Italian car? They do that because they're not allowed to strike so when they get pissed they do stuff like drop a wrench in the block...
@@robskyle it was a Plymouth. It wouldn't move at the Melvindale shipping yard. Was towed to the dealership I worked at.
Have to admit though, catastrophic failure makes removing the part much easier :)

I find that the best failures are the ones that completely remove the part for you and then dispose of it somewhere along your journey to save you time later!

So much for state car inspections providing road safety.
Many states (such as the one I live in) do not require inspections. Some of the vehicles I have seen on the road lead me to think there should be.

I've been working on cars since I was 15 and am now almost 62. If I can't do it myself I take it to a shop. I let them know that I was a mechanic and a Mechanic's wife for over 41 years so they know not to try and sell me what I don't need, but if they're honest with me they will get my business and my referrals. So I know what you mean. My current vehicle is a 1997 Chevy suburban with 193,400 miles on it and no rust. I laugh at some of the cars you deal with and others make me cringe. Keep up the great work.
I work on my own cars also. I have an 06 impala work car with 412k on it, still runs strong. I make sure things are fixed when they start to go bad.
This is why I always, ALWAYS. Check to ensure I'm putting the right fluid in the right place.

Seeing this, and driving for a living and seeing how badly people drive, it's a wonder how the human race actually hasn't gone extinct yet.
The cylinder liner going up with the cylinder was the most shocking for me. I have heard of it happening but, I have never actually seen it.
I didn’t even know that was a thing lol.
The Cylinder Head Holds The Liner In Place So If You Remove The Head Then It Will Allow The Cylinder Liner To Lift .
A *lot* of these customer states clips make me super, super, *super* glad I don't live on the east coast, or anywhere that requires salt on the roads.
Customer: "Not my fault", "It's a warranty case"; "Goodwill?"; "Nobody told me", " It's not in the manual", "Everything was fine yesterday"

Odd that they often blame another shop or a 'friend' who's done the sloppy work!
the one at 9:34 had a TON of forbidden glitter in it. So much so that it looked like silver paint when the plug was first pulled. Reminded me of the silver paint I used to use on my model cars.
I’m surprised half these cars even make it to the shop and haven’t exploded on the way 😂😂😂
I would love a version of this for us dummies that explains what the car should look like. I know that’s like twice as much work, but this content is appealing to normies
Salesmen all around the world: "That car is in good condition, just make a quick oil change and wash it, new owner is coming to take it home."
A lot of these problems comes from, the extent of some people's knowledge of the mechanics of a car is putting in the key and starting it. THEN when they have ruined it by running it into the ground by the lack of maintenance, they state "I heard a noise".
Or worse still they state the vehicle is unreliable.
Most of these clips in these videos are due to piss poor maintenance, if any, but many of these clips are the result of hitting/running over something or vandalism it seems.
Never a dull moment.
It seems like most people think their suspension is made to last forever lol. I had a shop charge me for a clutch they never put in. Had the car 4 years and the clutch went out 3 months after they “fixed” it and they blamed me for burning it out when I have never burned one up still to this day! My current civic had the original clutch in it from 2000 until last year when I changed it just out of regular maintenance and it still could had lasted longer with 260k miles on it!

In the UK vehicles have to pass an annual roadworthiness test after their third year, if you don’t get a pass your insurance is invalid.
They probably need to do that in America too, a few months ago, I saw a car that probably was rescued from the crush pile with no windows or what UK call a windscreen, it looked like it caught on fire with the exhaust pipe coming out of the bonnet.

Tire repair at 8:45- I had tire on a pickup slashed, took 8 bullets in a row to fix it. It was vandalism.
0h my god. I worked on cars in in SC as a teen and in my early 20s. This is nothing here that surprises me. I love this channel.
Lol, it is sooo the way it was at service stations. They are all gone. It was technical. I’m a software engineer now.
where's the shop that you get so many bullet ridden vehicles? In the 70's and early 80's I managed a gas station with 3 mechanic bays and never saw a vehicle with bullet holes. (just north of DC)

12:25 I've ran a transmission pretty dang hot a time or two out of necessity, but I've never seen the cooler fins expand like that. I'd assume replacing the cooler is only the beginning of the problems with such obvious neglect.

5:50 Famous Mazda rear strut bracket. Same part broke twice within 5x years on my car. Poor bracket design with cheap aluminum material without any surface coating.

In most states in Australia, all vehicles over 5 years old must have a yearly inspection so they never get as bad as some of these. If they don't pass they don't get registration, no registration is big fines and no insurance. So if a car is registered here, it will be in sfe reasonable condition.
Yes, this is true in most countries, except the almighty USA.
In Germany brand new cars have to be ispected after 3 years and used cars have to get inspected every 2 years. If something isn't right you have 4 weeks to repair it and have to pay just around 20€ for the after-inspection. If you can't manage to get it done in that time you have to pay another 100€ for a new inspection.
About 10 years ago, New Jersey (USA) eliminated all but emissions checking to see how it would work out. There was very little change in equipment-caused accidents, so now it has become permanent.
Texas still does this. Yearly. There for awhile you could bypass inspection and just buy the sticker(illegal). Now they make the shop connect to your car computer and it up loads to the state tax office. No more cheating
@@rogerwilco2 idk what you are talking about. I live in the US. Every state has their own inspection laws. In Texas a new vehicle is good for 2 years before being required to be inspected and renew the registration, it is then every year after. A used vehicle has to be inspected and registered yearly.

Some of the suspension and steering and brake issues are unbelievable, Cars would never get to these extents in the uk the issues would be picked up on during the annual test.

Oil might not be to bad of a coolant. It has a much higher boiling point, so less pressure? Bearings stay lubed? Double bonus. when the head gasket goes no mixing oil and antifreeze.
The coolant pump is not likely to be rated for a liquid as thick as oil so it will probably kill the pump pretty fast

I run my shop in Los Angeles and have the utmospt respect for people who work in these rusty ass states.. with that being said, if a customer MENTIONS their rust, they get my usual labor rate. If they DON'T, they're paying extra lol nothing ruins my day more than finding the cancer that is rust when I'm looking at ANY SORT of undercarriage work.

How do these massive single piece diff just crack open like that ? It’s metal ?
It takes some serious neglect for that to happen. The u-joints on the driveshaft keep the driveline forces aligned and if they seize up, all that torque is gonna end up twisting things in a way they were never designed to be twisted. Also the diffs themselves can fail and refuse to turn. Then it's just about the weakest point giving way.
extreme temperature changes can also really fuck up metal structure. i'm imagining that person living in the Upper Midwest (particularly Michigan which has terribly-maintained roads) and then after years of abuse the thing just goes crack!!! in the middle of winter

I’ve used a bunch of Rotary brand lifts but had no idea they had batteries. Do they all store energy in batteries? Also notice the white Audi R8 in the background!
Its specific only to their dc 24 volt lifts powered with 2 marine batteries. System has 110v plug in charger to keep em topped up.
