That description of Stanley is perfect. All the talent in the world but not the desire for the game.
Yup I’m from Orlando he was there before Shaq and he let us down
He did have a very sweet midrange. And yes, he could shoot free throws. And he can pass like Shaq. Don't know why his career didn't pan out.
Agreed. He played for Real Madrid and had all the potential in the world, but he didn't give his all, he didn't show any interest and he was also very overweight.
Makes me wonder about Zion.
Crazy Cross and shot from the hashmark and logo. That pull up was SICK!!
This man Mahmoud is just straight up inspiring! Great ep all round. More power and flowers to you all.
This guy was a beast in Denver... lights out.
When he spoke on Stanley, all I could do was think about my best friend "Boleg". As a kid, and I'm talking 10-11 years old, he was dominanting grown men in the Men's Basketball League. Big kid with court vision, handles and what I like to call it.. Sauce. He's the reason I really took the game seriously! Singlehandedly led our middle school squad to the championship and won it. When he reached high school, I saw that he didn't have the discipline like I did. He wouldn't work on his game or anything. Just show up play. That led him to the bench and he rarely played in high school. He switched schools junior year and had a great year! Went back to his old school and just fell off man. Never forget when he called me the day he was kicked off the team.. It hurt me like hell! The guy was supposed to be on someone's college team. He even admitted himself about 4-5 years ago, that if he'd taken the game serious, he would've went D1 easily! And he still has game! 🔥 Edit: Jacoby Brissett, NFL QB, played with us on our AAU squad. Bucket! He would've easily been in the NBA had he taken basketball serious! 6'4 PG in middle school lmao destroyed in high school lol he chose football
People don't understand how talented this dude was. Head of his time.
Yes Sir.... very ahead of his time
But how do u know who understands his talent or not? Did u ask a hundred people and they said no? Or u just felt it was necessary to say this?
@@freshone274many people don’t understand how talented this dude was
Especially cuz back then any pg that averaged more shot attempts than assists was labeled selfish. His skill set with today's coaching woulda been a problem!
@@freshone274 I personally did a survey of the universe and I can indeed verify that it is a factual statement that not many people know how talented he was
The Former Chris Jackson was one of the most Amazing Point Guards of all time in L.S.U. History! Coach Dale Brown, Chris Jackson, Shaquille O'Neal, Stanley Roberts, Vernel Singleton, Ricky Blanton. Man these Guys Should have one a Championship! The Former Chris Jackson was Amazing to see, he also played with Tourette Syndrome, which made his Accomplishments even more Spectacular! Former Chris Jackson, Mr. Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf thank you for all of the Great L.S.U. basketball memories Growing Up! "The Freshman Sensation" man he always went off for 50 like it was nothing. One of Gulfports Finest Citizens!!!
I'll never forget when Loyola Marymout went into LSU to play Shaq, Roberts, Jackson. Hank Gathers lit up Shaq & Roberts in the paint with 48 pts and 13 boards. Impressive stats, but when you consider Hank was up against two 7 footers it's unbelievable. Especially considering Gathers was only 6'8''.
Hell yeah talk that talk
Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble were spectacular
Lead the nation in scoring and rebounding
3pt threat
Man, this is awesome! Was such a Chris Jackson/Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf fan. But also remember Stanley Roberts so well as I always liked the husky fellas. If Stanley Roberts and Oliver Miller could ever control their weight and get that under control, they both would be in the HOF.
Shaq is one of the best personalities the league has ever seen. Great guy and player.
DONT LIMIT HIM JUST TO THE LEAGUE
The great Aristotle….
I would agree that he was one of the top 5 pure scorers that college basketball as ever seen.
I had no idea who Chris Jackson was until a random evening in 1989 where I turned on ESPN and watched a freshman in just his 5th or 6th game drop 53 points in Florida. I was glued to the tv and he’s been an all time favorite ever since. He hugely impacted the way I played as a small guard my entire life.
Mahmoud *
@@Abulkhirat9Chris Jackson* at LSU dumkopf
Best shooter of all time
The original Steph Curry, for real man watch clips of Mahmoud play and it's so eerily like Steph it blows my mind!!!!!
Yes, very similar. Steph just took it to another level. Sort of like there was David Thompson and then Michael Jordan took that to another level
He was my favorite player back in d day. He can flat out duel it out with MJ & d bulls
Got a pic with Abdul-Rauf at the Oakland 24 Fitness. He was shooting on a side basketball. He didn't miss and was in a pair of vans. Dude's shot is wet. Of course I waited until he was done with his drills. Never interrupt a person working in their office.
The respect passion and sincerity the Muhammad speaks with and attention he had and reflection and thought of these people.. Love this one y’all!! Shamgod with Somebody like a double interview y’all
Mannn.. a young Shaq and Mahmoud together would be one of the greatest duos ever! The pick and roll would be crazy, esp. in dantoni type system. Either threes or lob to shaq rolling to the basket
I grew up in BR la.around south baton rouge and Dale Brown at his time was the greatest version of a white man I ever met and as a young black teenager growing up me and my friends rarely saw that coach didn't see color and treated us all equal anyone who was interested in sports as a outlet away from trouble he embraced us as his own he would open up the field house and let us play ball all day the and the swimming area and let us swim give us money to buy snacks everything I luv coach brown and always will
If it weren't for all the white coaches recruiting poverty stricken areas...
As a white guy myself who was a bit of a baller back in the day, guys like Dale Brown and myself just see basketball players. We don't care what color they are. I think Tarkanian at UNLV was probably the same. There are others I am sure I am leaving out, but as it should be it was just about basketball players who could help the team win
DUDE GAME WUS MADD SUPER CRAZY. EVERY TIME HE PULLED DAT JOINT ROPE. HANDLES. STAY ALL DA WAY UP PLAYA. 1
People forget about Gerald Glass at Oke Miss was a baller. They had some scoring battles.
Don't forget him vs Literrial Green from Georgia. 2 of the top scorers coming out of high school their senior year in 1988...one of the best high school classes ever, and battling in the SEC.
Man....him and the man up top formerly known as "Chris Jackson" had a shootout one year I think both had damn near 50...if I remember correctly
I was shocked that Gerald Glass didn't pan out in the NBA
I was there in 89 glass and jackson going into triple overtime. Ole miss won that day but it was a hell of a show by both guys.
@@jonassims8558 jackson had 42 glass had 44 I think.
Stanley Roberts has a very smooth shooting form. Beautiful midrange. He can pass like Shaq. Has powerful post up. Unfortunately, like then Chris Jackson said to him. If he had focus and discipline, he could have dominated....
I cant lie love how everyone keeps shaq their flowers. U can tell everyone really fucks with him.
I'm remember Chris Jackson and Alan Houston going off for 40+ points in the SEC tournament.
Houston finished top 5 ncaa scorers
Stanley Roberts was SOOOOOOOOOOO nimble......even more coordinated than Shaq.....That was crazy......I watched that team - with Vernell Singleton - and Shaq was the THIRD most talented player on that team : - Chris Jackson - as Mahmoud was known at the time - was UN. Stoppable. He was Steph 20 years BEFORE Steph. Never seen anything like it. - Stanley Roberts.....IF he had HALF the drive of Shaq....the league woulda been in trouble.....By FAR, Shaq's 2 years @ LSU were the biggest What-IFS as far as teams that never broke through....Dale Brown could recruit, but couldn't put a winning team together.
Rauf was always going off. Every game it felt like he was just killing your team, even when he lost he killed your team, gave MJ that work, and...he was a joy to watch. Stupid & hateful NBA wrecked his career over NOTHING!😠
Yeah, what happened to him? How come he didn't last in the NBA?
@@syberdieforlove he embraced Islam and started sitting when the anthem would be played before games
Lol. He was a good player, nothing special.
@@salmanahjum-mathee9055 he sat and prayed. His stance wasn’t to be an activist or for anyone but his moment to pray. He’s a really nice likeable person.

CJ, Shaq, Stanley, Mo Williamson, Vernel Singleton.. more talent than u could shake a stick at.. I WAS THERE!! It's a shame they don't have a Natty!!
Shaq wasn't about skill, just shear Power, dint think Stanley had that
3:01 He is angled? Can someone please spell the word out for me. Thanks a lot.👍
"He said I ain't gon listen" not he is angled

What was Roberts’ response to him? I can’t make out what he said
That he wont listen

COLLEGE BASKETBALL GOAT ... CHRIS JACKSON
Stanley was just as big as Shaq in size
Y'all better stop playing with Vernel Singleton boy was a beast too.
I'm pretty sure Shaq and Odell Beckham were boys too at LSU
This dude was the s***! I believe in a high power, but a person's desire for religion, I have no time for. I got where he was coming from, when he wouldn't stand up for the National Anthem, but I wish he'd had conversations with Bill Russell, Kareem, Jim Brown, and Stokely Carmichael first, them made his choice.
Tyler Perry Movies ... COLLEGE BASKETBALL GOAT CHRIS JACKSON
I Give CJ his Props At LSU an The NBA .. He Was What We referred Too As A "Gun Box" 😂🤣 Man He Was Not Passing the Ball At All..
They still haven’t put him in the hall yet?
Originally step curry
Curry before Curry 😮
No he was all.around player
stop playin, this bout stanley roberts
Geauxx
He sounds like J Cole
Stanley had a extremely bad attitude. Shaq had a extremely good attitude. fast forward 30 years later. Shaquille O’Neal is on the verge of becoming a billionaire. Stanley Roberts is a broke joke. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out which attitude will get you farther in life. btw Chris Jackson had the sweetest jumpshot
Sarg, raised Shaq the right way.
I wonder if shaq would of stood up for him!?
good question brotha
