Thanks again for showing Jerusalem today. Do you have a video of Lifta, the abandoned Arab village on the western entrance to Jerusalem--there is some controversy over plans for use but it is a beautiful area with what must have been beautiful Arab homes before 1948. Thanks again for making Israel come alive in 2024.
How dare you say that Lifta was abandoned. The Muslim village suffered a massacre when in 1948 a Jewish militia launched a grenade assault on it burning or blowing up a whole lot of buildings. The villagers fled in terror but many returned. In the end an IDF assault on the village chased all the Muslims out. Before 1948 there were several thousand Muslims living there. The World Heritage Fund has Lifta listed as an endangered site. A Jewish group plotting to blow up the mosques on Temple Mount hid there in the 1980s but luckily they were uncovered as there were about to enter the Temple Mount with a whole lot of explosives on them. Also luckily a plan to demolish Lifta and build luxurious villas in its place was scratched when word got out of such a plan to destroy what was once a beautiful village full of olive and other orchards.
