+ minor data correction : ZX-4RR has +32ps more than ninja 400, not 22ps.
+ ninja 400 use KYB suspension, not Showa.
+ sound from zx-25r because zx-4rr sound sample isn't available yet.

  • Outstanding editing and graphics. I agree with the comment below. If you are commuting around town the 400 is probably the best choice. But man, that little inline 4 is so nice. I did put a deposit down on the 4RR so I will be commuting around with it to see if it's manageable.

  • Great video. Obviously the RR is the better bike in pretty much every way... but the Ninja 400 will remain a better bike for city riding and commuting. That's just the torquey nature of the p-twin. My MT07 was the same way, I used to drop older R6s at the lights, only to have them blow by once they got the revs up into the real power.

  • I had an OG zxr400rr as standard. 135mph mini rocket. About the same speed as my brothers sv650 with aftermarket exhaust. In a straight line anyway. On the bends the zxr400rr kicked it's butt. Though I did love his sv650 for the engine. Its a peach and so much easier to ride in terms not having to keep the revs up for the power. Depends how you like your ride. A screamer that you have to keep in the powerband or a more torque focused bike. Any 600rr will kick it's butt.

  • My second bike was an FZR400 with a 14k redline. I learned a lot on that bike. Low end torque is a new riders nightmare. So riding below the power band gives you time to get a feel for the bike before you unleash the beast on the top end. So if it was me I'd spend the money on the ZX. My 14 is just an all around beast, but I know how to tame her. LOL

  • Not even in the same league. Peak torque means nothing unless you happen to ride everywhere at exactly those rpm. At every single speed increment the 4rr will be faster so long as you use the appropriate gear and most of the time much, much faster. When you have a 77hp bike vs a 45hp bike its a complete no contest. Yes the rr will need to rev harder but then it can. The 4rr will have a redline well over 6000rpm higher - or around 50% more. Which one pulls better from what rpm is a silly metric when they both run different rpm ranges and gearing. Look at thrust at the back wheel over rpm range and the 4rr obliterates the ninja4. In a gear with the same top speed the 4rr would only need 66% of the torque to push as hard. Its more of a match for an R7 (MT-07r) than a ninja 400.

  • Ninja 400: great “sport looking” bike to learn on and have a blast riding. Also way less expensive to buy and insure than a big sport bike. Easy and very manageable power delivery for new riders. Can do track days but has very comfortable riding position for a daily commuter in town and some highway use. Ninja ZX4RR: great entry level “Sport Bike” to learn on. Same engine characteristics as large sport bikes but way more forgiving for a new rider not used to the big power up top in the rev range and has similar seating position to a big sport bike. But more comfortable for commuting and daily riding. A blast to ride anywhere especially on track. Plenty of weight and horsepower for comfortable and safe highway riding. I think Kawasaki hit it out of the park with this entry level proper sports bike!!! Let’s see if they follow it up with a proper Z400RS with this in-line 4 engine!!!!!

    @leanit5756@leanit5756 Жыл бұрын
    • No it really doesn’t. Everything is relative. It would be a little heavy for a $10k single cylinder 400cc bike but not a inline 4 with bigger wheels and tires and a much heavier and beefier exhaust with twice the pipes obviously and the weight of the tech differences, not sure if it has an imu but still

      @Fee.1@Fee.1 Жыл бұрын
    • I agree. Based on the weight of 600’s and liter bikes not weighing significantly more than the 400 but having far more power

      @perrosdemaiz@perrosdemaiz Жыл бұрын
    • @@Fee.1 It is heavy. Too bad they went with a steel frame. My first bike was a '90 FZR400 inline 4. It weighed 85lbs less than a FZR600. This bike is only 15lbs less than a ZX6R and weighs the same as a 600RR. And it costs $500 more than an R7.

  • Mind you the biggest difference for people in the EU will be the Ninja 400 can be driven with an A2 licence, whereas the ZX-4RR will require a full A licence, (despite both being 400cc) due to the power-to-weight ratio and the 77 HP

    @boscodomingo@boscodomingo Жыл бұрын
    • Yes, but you can restrict a bycicle with max 95hp to an A2 bycicle which will restrict it to ~46hp (from 70kw to 35 kw) so the Zx4RR CAN be driven but just restricted if you have an A2 license.

  • The Ninja 400 doesn't have the wow factor of the ZX4, but it costs far less to buy, own, insure, and maintain, is far quicker from stoplight to stoplight, and even makes a great track day tool with some suspension tweaks. Have your Ninja 400's PCM flashed, and on basically everything but top speed, you'll beat a ZX4's ass like a drum, and still have plenty of cash in your pocket, and a back and a pair of legs that will thank you after a long day in the saddle. You just won't sound as good doing it. Nothing beats the sound of an inline 4, or a 270 degree twin. The Ninja 400 is a 180 degree twin, and it's gonna sound like one, no matter what exhaust can you put on it. Take it or leave it.
