  • I'd say "the special effects in this movie are good for the time." But the reality is that they are still spectacular for this time. He is the most vivid and real Hulk so far.

  • There is some parts of the movie that looks outdated but in a lot of scenes, the cgi looks very good. It's amazing how they made hulk look so real with 2003 technology.

  • I always liked this version of the Hulk, I felt like it got the comic version of the Hulk right and was the best interpretation of the Hulk than the other movies. The Incredible Hulk movie comes in a close second.

    • StopFear are you fucking insane. 2003’s hulk is a god awful movie- the plot is ridiculous, the acting is even worse, the editing is some of the worst I’ve ever seen, and Eric Bana’s portrayal as the hulk makes the character unlikeable and boring. This movie is absolute shit, and that’s the truth.

  • I truly don’t understand why people roast this character design/ CGI. It looks stunning to me; especially for when it was made. He looks weighted, naturally fits in with the tangible environment, and has incredible amounts of detail (his gamma radiation turned the water on him into steam!). Not to mention this is about the only time in cinema history that Hulk actually grows as he gets anger and has almost all of his comic powers in tact! This movie (like BvS, Watchmen & Man of Steel) dares to tell a sophisticated story based on a giant green rage monster. I suspect a lot of audience members don’t know how to process mindless CGI spectacle and thought provoking storytelling in the same package so they become angry when filmmakers try to blend them into one story.

  • 2:39 to 2:48 CGI on hulk in my view is so spot on... In the beginning his trapezius muscle slightly moved, the way he gulps as his eyes water slightly shows a very authentic human-like movement, his neck muscles seamlessly shift, his hair is naturally moving, and his gaze is so actual and real as if it was showing an actual conscious human soul, as if he is really there, the lighting and the blending is simply stunning.

  • Sure, the overall special effects don’t hold up as… almost twenty years ago and the first attempt at something like this… but the attention to realism as far as the little details… not to mention the best Hulk story by far and superb acting on all counts. The ending maybe is a little bloated and hokey, but my favorite Hulk story and action to date. They really understood the character they were bringing to life.

The budget was huge and Jurassik parc was still a big inspiration for vfx artist working in this movie I guess.

  • Hulk looks so real in this scene. I think its because they put him in harsh "plain" sun light, the opposite to the new films which are very flashy and full of effects and light sources. Also that dirt in his skin makes him look more grounded to reality.

  • Splitting the screens was Comic book fidelity 101 they tried to keep it organic that way. It's not great but appreciate the innovations that this director made. Great movie with hiccups here and there. Good CGI for a 2003 flick.

  • I feel like all the adults seen this in theatres and thought it was bad and then all the kids saw it when it came out on vhs and dvd and realised how much of a masterpiece it is

  • What's striking about this is that Hulk is actually sweaty and dirty, he even has a bit of beard fuzz. The attention to detail is superb for a 2003 movie

    • @@alejolion2548 and that's what frustrates me, we have the the capabilities to make cgi that looks way better than this, which even for the time it came out still looked great in many scenes. But because they were more limited they had to do it right every time. They had to jump hurdles and try their best. Even with that limited technology the finished product still holds up in many aspects. But now that the technology grew so much we try way less to get it right, but to get it to look passable. Even some smaller studios make things that look way better than some of the mcu films, hell look at the original iron man. That film still holds up! Because there was more soul in it. Sorry to waterboard you with this but it just pisses me off.

  • This Hulk looked strange (his face for instance) but this is the type of Hulk we need in movies, not the simp that got owned by Thanos like nothing. Then we need a Thor that matches this level of power. I mean look how strong Superman is in the movies. The Avengers characters combined could not even slow Superman down (assuming Sups was bloodlusted). Come on Marvel, don't be scared to show them this powerful in movies! Characters like Hulk and Thor SHOULD BE!

    • Well this was 2003 so that is a good excuse for the strange face. Looks wise I prefer the 2008 Hulk tbh, he looked way more fierce and intimidating but seemed weaker. This hulk literally gets stronger and bigger by being more angry and thats the hulk we all know and when we look at mark's hulk he never got any stronger, got put down by hulkbuster, almost defeated by New york invasion(Where he was being shot at by chitaru), got his whole carier handed backhand to him by Thanos and then refused to fight. THE ALL POWERFUL ANGRY MONSTER REFUSED TO FIGHT. Why? Cuz he took a beating ONCE. Yes he got beat pretty easily but he was scared to fight Thanos's legion too. And I really hate professor hulk in my personal opinion.

    • @@liteukiyo9333 If we look at the fact that this Hulk actually becomes stronger by being more angry yet he never got a chance to have another movie. Mark was in many movies and had the chance to display strength against many, MANY aliens. In my personal opinion this hulk would beat Mark eventually by becoming stronger. Don't forget, just cause a youtuber did a calculation doesn't mean they can calculate Hulk's strength in total. And currently we all know Mark's new Hulk sucks. It became bad after Ragnarok.
