When many people heard her for the first time, she was a 13-14 year old kid. Then, some of the older generation were like, "Yeah, she'll be maybe the new Amanda Lear, she'll be interesting with her low voice, but in time it will go down in history. This is a singing competition where the singers are also the judges. I think it's obvious that some of them had never heard Diana sing before. The first time you hear her sing, it takes your brain a little time to process it and figure out what you are hearing.
She is 18 here. The first guy, his wife is a world-renowned Soprano and I can't remember her name to save my life. But for him to say such things they know how special she is. You two need to find her about her first years of being alive. I think at one time her mother either tried to set her on fire as toddler, or tried to choke her to death. Then she was left on the street in the dead of winter and finally was put in an orphanage. I might not be correct with the specifics but the level of abuse was staggering. Then to come out the other end as a cheerful human being is remarkable to me. Diana has a regular singing voice which is very lovely, but it is her back of the throat that is hers alone. She has worked very hard to produce that sound quality even into her head-voice range the she deserves all the praise and success she is getting. She sings a song called 'The River' or 'Rechenka' I think I'll find the link that is wild. I think the one I'm thinking of she did for another contest show when she was 16. With this performance at the age of 18, she redefined what a teenage girl could do and shocked both her fellow contestants and millions of viewers from around the world. She has an article on English Wikipedia that you can read to learn about her- just Google her name and it’ll pop up. For context, this show ran for 9 weeks in late 2021. All the contestants were well-established singers who had won some earlier singing contest, Diana being the youngest of them. Each weekend an episode was released and the singers performed in 9 different genres. The first 3 of Diana’s performances can be found copyright-free on her KZhead channel. The references to “VR technology” in the commentary are because this technology was actually used for the stage during the performance. Audience members got to experience it in person, which must’ve been an interesting experience. Spoiler alert: she won the show! One more thing- the bulk of Diana’s fans are Russian. She has what is called polyphonic overtones that can actually do two tones at once. She also is a rare contralto like Cher but way more range and power. Very special lady with a triumphant life story. These other comments know what they are talking about on other songs to watch. That first judge is a world class opera tenor and is hard to impress.

She's 19 now, 18 here. 15 for Wicked Game, 14 for Rechenka, from "You Are Super" competition for abused / underprivileged children, largely underwritten by Igor Krutoy, famous Russian composer who came out of retirement to collaborate with Dimash. Igor later bought an apartment in Moscow for Diana's family and secured a spot at university to continue high-level training. Rechenka (little river) is comprised of Russian folk tales about an orphan who is being given away in marriage to the unloved, and who comes to the rive,r border between the living and the dead, to ask blessings from her deceased mother. More poignant considering Diana's backstory: beaten and abused by her birth mother, abandoned at a bus stop in winter with a broken collarbone, brought to an orphanage speechless at 3, took singing lessons as speech therapy, and adopted by a loving family. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment. Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. For you and all those in your audience that may or may not know, this performance took place on September 25, 2021, when Diana Ankudinova was only 18 years old, and she was the final performer during this first season of a new Russian vocal competition called the ShowMaskGoOn. Diana Ankudinova’s cover of the Elvis Presley classic Can't Help Falling In Love, demonstrates Diana Ankudinova has developed into what many vocal professionals are saying is a true contralto voice type and a contralto is the lowest female voice and is very, very rare. Now, the vocal range helps in defining a female singer's voice type, and in 2017, at 13, Dianas' vocal range measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5, which is good for a 13-year-old girl. Diana has said she was not happy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and this lack kept her out of the more prestigious music academies. Diana, along with her vocal teacher decided to work extensively on developing a higher vocal range. In September of 2021, at age 18, her vocal range was again measured during this performance. Now her functional vocal range goes from a low of C3 to a high of Bb5, almost 3-octaves. During this performance, her upper range improvement is now on full display for all to hear. It is not just about how low she can go, it is the exceptional quality of her tone in her lower range. It is in the roundness, fullness, and depth of her voice, plus her ability to access, and use an enormous amount of resonance. This new vocal competition was televised over a nine-week period, one episode per week with the other judges/professional singers competing against each other, and based on their individual performance the judges awarded judging points to each other, and when not competing, Diana was also a member of this judging panel. Every week, each singer took the stage and performed a different song. Each contestant was required to sing from a different genre using different styles. The ShowMaskGoOn concluded on November 20, 2021, and during Diana's performance, the judge on the top row, the first to stand, is a well-known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan, that was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this competition. Yusif Eyvazov is married to the world-famous Russian opera soprano Anna Netrebko. At the end of Dianas' performance, she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. One of those competitors is the well-known contemporary Russian singer Julia Parshuta. She is the blond woman standing in the center row dressed in red and looks totally dumbfounded at the end of Dianas' performance. Julia Parshuta puts both hands on her head, with a look of total bewilderment and shock. Julia Parshuta and the other judges now know at some point, she and the other contestants will have to compete against Diana Ankudinova, who everyone now recognizes is a generational talent. Diana is a true power house her extreme voice will nail you to the wall every time you hear her so i suggest to continue listening to her, she is so diverse too she has sang every genre of music there is except maybe metal. Но на вас налетает настоящий ураган, что-то вроде торнадо - и к этому, конечно, никто не может быть готов. Эта американская пара - просто в силу того, чем они занимаются - готова воспринимать что-то неожиданное, что-то необычное - но у любой такой готовности есть свои пределы. Диана Анкудинова эти пределы перешла настолько явно, что им остаётся только демонстрировать свою растерянность. Хорошо, что они послушали комментарии тех, кто лично принимал на себя этот ураган. Эти люди, уже хорошо нам знакомые, тоже опешили и слегка растерялись; но они всё-таки получше были готовы к этому событию - они кое-что знали о Диане Анкудиновой. Они сумели собраться и очень изящно всё это прокомментировали. Надо признать, что это представление было лучшим на всём шоу не только как бенефис Дианы Анкудиновой - но и как некий образец адекватной реакции на незаурядное событие, - реакции искренней и честной, с хорошими, откровенными комментариями по горячим следам. Организаторам шоу удалось не только организовать выдающееся событие, но и превосходно его зафиксировать - и отрефлексировать. Нам на долгую память; и всем, кто посмотрит - в назидание. Практически идеальный пример того, как можно правильно, на все 200 процентов использовать удачное сочетание богатых технических возможностей телекомпании, наличие выдающегося по своим возможностям артиста, плюс наличие других хороших артистов, его прекрасно оттеняющих и способных, позабыв на короткое время о своих личных амбициях, сказать об этом незаурядном артисте очень добрые, очень проницательные слова. Эти слова не просто вырвались в каком-то случайном искреннем порыве - они представляют собой довольно точное описание того, чем в действительности является Диана Анкудинова...
Это самый лучший ураган 🎉 хочется испытывать его действие в режиме нон-стоп 😊

You have just listened to what may be a true contralto. “Diana Ankudinova, A Russian National Treasure” (My opinion), I have been following her for a while. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Wait until you hear “Wicked Games”, “Take On Me”, "Human" or "Rechenka" Even though it is in Russian you still feel the emotion behind it. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, French, German, Arabic and Spanish so far. No matter what language it is beautiful. There is a circle of fans and you have found half of them Dimash from Kazakhstan and now Diana from Russia. There is also Daneliya Tuleshova - Young pop singer (STAR) from Kazakhstan (now U.S.A.) and Angelina Jordan - from Norway (now U.S.A.). Probably the BEST talent today. (WARNING: This girl is addictive, and you will get HOOKED!)

Thank you for your honest reaction. ( i think is pronounced Dee-anna, was 18 for this amazing performance.) Diana, singing 'Rechenka' is one of my favourites from this wonderful performer, is in Russian but do not need lyrics to experience the emotions portrayed. Diana is apparently a 'dramatic contralto' who can also yodel and can produce polyphonic overtones. So glad you watched the judges comments -- very insightful ( apart from the shared delusion re divine assistance. her abilities, skill, commitment, intensity and professionalism are all her own work. -- the invisible non existent entity in the sky has nothing do with anything and has never, EVER been shown to exist. Thousands of years of lies. )

Thank you for pronouncing her name (almost) perfectly. Her last name is especially difficult for us native English-speakers, and many reactors don't even try to get her name right. Diana's first name, though, is pronounced Dee-AHN-ah.

Just 18 years old. It isn't just the sensational quality of her voice. It is her musicality and theatricality. She is a genius.
Her voice goes to a place I haven't heard before. She has so much control of all her many types of voices. It sounds mystical, even eerie. I haven't heard her go to like a tenor voice before. I shake my head all through her performances......I just cannot believe what I am hearing. I know she will keep growing and showing the world how unique she is.
