The Guardians of Shambhala | Uncharted 2 Among Thieves - All Shambhala Guardian Encounters
"What would a man become, if he possessed the stone itself?" - Karl Schafer
Nathan Drake, Elena Fisher and Chloe Frazer battle the super mutant Shambhala Guardians in Uncharted 2 Among Thieves.
In this video, I showcase all the Guardian enemy encounters in the game and how to defeat them while taking minor damage. Which includes gameplay and cutscenes showing or references them. They only appear in Chapters 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26.
I also included the game over death scenes from the Guardians, showing what happens when you don't do well fighting them.
Played on Hard mode.
INFO:
What are the Shambhala Guardians? They were once humans that discovered the lost city of Shambhala in the Himalayas. In the city they found the Tree of Life. They ingested the blue resin or tree sap produced by the tree and were transformed into purple-skinned, black-teeth humanoid warriors with inhuman strength, resilience, mobility and limited healing abilities. They use crossbows and blue resin bombs as their weapons to fight off intruders. Outside of Shambhala, the Guardians used Yeti-like costumes to protect their identity and frighten off trespassers from discovering the lost city. (SIDENOTE: Explores heard stories of a Sapphire stone in Shambhala called, Cintamani Stone. Believing that it possessed power and immortally. But unbeknownst to them, the stone was actually resin from the Tree of Life.)

I’m so disappointed there is no monsters or supernatural element in Uncharted 4, the bunker level in the first game was the best
Same here! That's what makes the first 3 games feel extra special. The objects Nate was chasing were either cursed or granted some type of power. I seriously wish they continued with that in U4.
I'd argue that 4 didn't need a supernatural element. I just don't think it wouldn't have fit into the story. It's an absolute masterpiece.
Part of me always wanted a continuation of the Guardians storyline like what if there was more than one tree and one stone
I got a feeling in the past like way before human those trees probably existed but was either burned down or extinct and that the one in shambala was one of the last of its species
@@PrincessTwilightdashexcept someone just takes a sapling and just plants it elsewhere!
Now when I think about it. This was the one and only treasure that Nate should have gone back for. Just cut a few saplings and take it with you. Then plant it and let it grow until you can extract some sap. Now you have instant healing medicine that also enhances you to a crazy degree. Cancer? Gone. Mutilation ? Gone.
@@zen4ever3 If you're fine with being mutated, then sure... And if Nate wasn't with Lazaravic having bright ideas, then what about others?
Am I the only one who finds it darkly funny how Drake is "no I won't kill you, I'm not like you. I let you slowly get beaten to death"
It was crazy to think that all of the passengers of the lost ship for Marco polos journey killed each other because the stone turned some and others fought back against the power
Or they got high on something. But the way I see it, the sap doesn’t nessarly affect you mentally, as seen with lazarvich.
@@zen4ever3Maybe it affect you overtime Given that Lazarevic just drank it and then died 10 min later But the guardians still look very organised and inteliggent given that they still speak, give orders and even use tactics
You know something I don’t understand??? When these guardians were in the yeti costumes shooting them with a world war 2 pistol does nothing, shooting them with a regular pistol does nothing, using any type of guns with tweaks does nothing but lazarevic sawed off shotgun is what kills them, that makes no sense lol
I guess it’s just more impact/damage
Well the Nate and Flynn were just pumping bullets into it before that scene, so I'd say it was more that was the finishing blow
This is what was missing in A Thief's End. There was always some type of mystical myth tied to the objects Nate was chasing, and it's too bad they didn't continue with that in U4.
They could have made a story similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl. So basically that some treasure Henry Avery and the rest of the Pirates took was cursed that it turned them to living skeletons. It could have been even more awesome that these skeletons would only come to life during night or in the dark. This would have made part 4 even better than it is now!
This was nightmare fuel as a kid for me
15:51 Slogturtle back punches Harry on his face Slogturtle runs on Shambhala Gate he was escaping Slogturtle use his gun in Shambhala Gate Harry: Son of a... 15:54 Slogturtle: Come on girls! Chloe: Run! Nathan: Go! Guardira: No! Wooyari: Come on!
1:37-1:41 Still one of *THE GREATEST JUMPSCARES* in video game history 😱
27:22. Chloe and Elena: Nate!
Awesome video! It's actually funny and cool to watch Lazarevic's soldiers fight and try to kill the Shambala Guardians to be honest. XD
thank you! it a nice little detail in the game
@@EightOfSupreme You're very welcome and you got that right. Question though: Were you playing the game on normal difficulty?
@@GhostRider-xt7vp I played this on hard mode :)
@@EightOfSupreme Hard mode? Isn't that gonna make things tricky for you?
@@GhostRider-xt7vp srry for the late reply, well you die quicker, but its nothing I cant handle :)
27:39 Elena: Oh my leg!
I'm not gonna lie, I was kind of disappointed the Yeti like creatures turned out to be Guardians in suits.
They’re still pretty effective, and they play into the theme of treasure and riches not being exactly what they seem.
Plus the guardians are still super natural cus they're like mutants cus of those freaky veins popping out through their faces. Still super scary for me lol.
@@aaryanvora1157it’s the noise the yeti’s give off for me
I loved this franchise man ♥️😮💨
27:10 Flynn cares for Nate
I love these guardians. Thier purple skin is beautiful 💜
Great video!
13:08 *_They killed my boys!!_* 😭😭😭
You are playing wery well.
The uncharted series was so good I thought librataila was a real place lol
27:39 Double Kill!!
I can't believe that happen, but it did. Pure luck I say.
That orange outfit Elena had 😮💨👌
the monster from the first game were the scariest overall, it had me so creeped out as a kid.
Nathan drake can understand tenzin
15:15 Lazarevic: On your knees. 15:17 Harry: Hey, hey, uh Lazarevic: I do not suffer traitors. Harry: Zorah, we had a deal. 15:23 Harry: Oh, right, so I support you know exactly how to find the Stone, then... Harry: Won't be needing me... 15:29 Lazarevic decided to choice Pingrek (Shawna) Harry: Thanks. Lazarevic: On your knees!
I remember uncharted 2 as the game that rivaled call of duty modern warfare 2.
Huh ? People screamed because uncharted 1 featured mutated zombies , but went silent with uncharted 2 guardians idk why
Until the Music starts kicking in when the Bunkers Power came back on, it was just eerie and quiet and turning a Corner with multiple other Corners in all 4 Directions kept you on guard for when the Descendants popped out The Guardians on the other Hand, weren’t subtle and just charge Nate and Tenzen on the first Fight Encounter
Are the guardians speaking Tibetan?
Curious but is this the ps3 version of the game? Cause I can tell there’s some graphical difference, especially with drakes face.
The original trilogy got remastered
Description says this is the remaster on PS4.

Who are these guardians
former citizens of shambhala who ate the resin of the cintamani stone, granting them strength and longevity seemingly at the cost of their intelligence. they wear 'yeti' costumes to scare off outsiders, hence their name.
@@grumpletybooeg3338I don't think they are stupid it's more of the fact that their are guarding the Resin on a whole another level by isolating themselves so much and by killing anyone that isn't a guardian
@@grumpletybooeg3338Are the Shambhala Guardians immortal?
