    @jamesredman1263@jamesredman1263Ай бұрын
    • Do a leak down test also while you're in there. It also wouldn't hurt to use the old dollar trick on the exhaust pipes to see if it's constantly blowing outwards, if it gets sucked in every now and then you've probably got a valve that's not sealing all the way when that dollar gets sucked in. Could be a burnt valve, valve seat, weak valve spring or something else in the valve train causing it not to close like a flat spot on the Cam itself. Someone else said that they knew the previous owner and that this car was ripped on constantly so there's no telling what you're liable to find on a total teardown. At least you got a good amount of pricey performance parts that can be reused but like many vehicles that are out there today that's just what they do have a bunch of bolt on parts and no internal work ever done. Good luck hopefully you got a good enough deal that another $18-$20k of internal work and upgrades doesn't kill the budget. At least the body looks to be in good shape, interior looked a little ratty to be expected with that kinda mileage though, but could be a nice hotrod.

      @teddysickels1857@teddysickels1857Ай бұрын

Your vehicle will not be exactly what someone else is looking for. There are too many different types of combinations of parts and components for it to be exactly what someone else wants, so build it for yourself and enjoy it but when you decide to sell it expect to take a loss unless you're in the business of building vehicles for other people.

  • Considering that it runs well and doesn't misfire, the blue smoke can't really be from bad piston rings. It's most likely a valve guide that's gone bad. Or even something as simple as a valve stem seal. And even if the rings are bad, they aren't that hard to replace.

    @myrmeko@myrmekoАй бұрын
    • Rings aren't hart its just very very VERY time consuming

      @jackb7954@jackb7954Ай бұрын
    • @@jackb7954 Hmmm... I think you could leave the block attached tho. Remove the head, drop the oil pan, drop the crankshaft, extract the pistons and rods from below, swap the rings and put them back from above and reassemble. Could you do it like that in cars that don't require the front axle to be removed in order to drop the oil pan?

      @myrmeko@myrmekoАй бұрын
    • @myrmeko leaving the block attached and doing rings makes things more difficult bc you can't hit the piston down with rubber hammer

  • Stock upper though. Sounds like borla attack exhaust. I’m curious if it has stock mag ride suspension. My suspension was shot at 35 k miles. Also it looks like it has a Hobbs switch for auxiliary fuel pump.

I hear them around here all the time and they can't go anywhere without stomping the go pedal at every light. You really don't know what you're getting buying site un seen from an auction. You might be getting an expensive boat anchor.
