This is the first Mamamoo video I ever saw and it basically immediately made me ult them (they're also the first group I properly stanned). Also I heard Moonbyul's rap and was done for. She's now my ult of ults for the rest of forever, there's no escape
Solar hurt her back and took up pole dancing to strengthen it. This was after just her first lesson. This track is one of the many that demonstrate that they are not a girl group, they are a woman group. I think the two title tracks I'm most looking forward to you reacting to are Um Oh Ah Yeah, which is played at practically every Korean pride event, and Decalcomanie, probably my favorite song of theirs. I think because they haven’t seen most title tracks, it would be way too early to intro them to the killing voice, I mean half of windflower is in there. Just from watching other reactor who do the kv first, it tends to take away from the actual mv reaction.

okay little explanation towards this album in particular. It's part of their 4 seasons 4 colors project in which they released 4 different albums (Yellow Flower, Red Moon, Blue;s and White Wind) which each embodied one of the members. Each member also had a solo in 'their' album. Red Moon is, as you can probably guess, Moonbyuls. Yellow Flower is Hwasa, Blue;s is Solar and White Wind is Wheein. This also corresponds with their own symbols. Solar = Sun, Moonbyul = Moon (or star cause byul means star in korean), Wheein = Wind, Hwasa = Flower. They also have a song called Star, Wind, Flower, Sun, which is a fan song and uses the same symbols. The fandom also often uses these colors for the members, especially when it comes to subs. So Solar = blue, Byul = red, Wheein = white, Hwasa = yellow I hope this made sense, but I just wanted to share this with you :)
Excellent explanation! I have the four symbols of the 4 seasons 4 colors era tattooed on my arm. I have in the center of the symbols 네 계절 (4 seasons) and the letter M. I know in Korean it is actual 사계절 but I wanted my tat to be about the four members so I used the other number system.

I totally agree Moonbyul and Solar's (commonly known as MoonSun) voices are so similar and blends so well together! I recommend listening to their remake song called Promise U (originally by Vibe, MoonSun was invited to remake this song for Vibe's 20th anniversary) Another song by MoonSun is Better. This is their first official unit song, and officially, their unit name called MAMAMOO+. This song features a popular Korean rapper named Big Naughty. Also, it's mentioned (even by MAMAMOO official channel videos MMMTV) that Wheein and Moonbyul actually has similar voices too. If you pitch Moonbyul's voice up, it will sound like Wheein. And if you pitch Wheein's voice down, it will sound like Moonbyul. That's why Moomoos love it whenever Moonbyul and Wheein harmonise together. The most recent part that Moomoos go crazy over is the ILLELLA part before the "don't go home" line, where you hear someone harmonising with Moonbyul, that is Wheein. 🥰🥰 Finally, you will be able to find many videos of songs that are pitched lower or higher so that it sounded like Wheein is singing Moonbyul's songs and Moonbyul is singing Wheein's songs.
I assume neither of you have listened to any of WheeIn's solo. So, before I recc something I'd like to give some context about her music. Her first solo song was 'Easy' back in 2018 and being the first member to debut solo. The 2019 she released her second single 'Goodbye' prod. Junkey they've collaborated before as well on a wonderful ballad 'Anymore' 2017 (live performance highly recommended ) which even got her a music show win without promotion! Then 2021 she released her first solo mini album titled 'Redd' with the promotional track Water Colour (it's a bop!). Recommended b-side -Thrash and Butterfly. Now comes her latest comeback (in her new company) on Jan 2022 'Whee' with the title track 'Make Me Happy' which is a R&B track (in fact this whole album is) with the motive of putting out songs that are soothing to the ears and mind. She's the member with most solo stuff including official solo releases, features, collabs and OSTs. To sum it all up her music mostly revolve around R&B / Ballads. Make sure to check out her music 😊

I love this song (Starry Night is my favorite but this is up there like-) they went OFF during this whole MV and this is definitely everyone's era like Hwasa came for me she wanted me dead and that one piece that she was wearing (just everything about her like WOW, she could step on me), Moonbyul went CRAZY on the rap like holy cow and the way she threw that chair- my goodness and dude her in those outfits was everything, Wheein legit came for me she is so underrated what in the world her looks were amazing and her tattoos (even though those were fake, it still kind of counts because she has tattoos) just everything, and then Solar... Solar does all sorts of crazy stuff (skydiving, getting her truck license, starring in a Broadway performance), Moonbyul is all about hanging out with friends (camping with other Idols, going to a PC cafe with staff, doing karaoke to her own music), and Wheein is super cozy (clothing hauls, cat videos, and recording sessions). Mamamoo MVs on Stone Music Entertainment don't always have English subs, but they have all the MVs on their official channel with subs, just is a little harder to find them sometimes. There are a couple (such as Aze Gag) that don't have English subs.

Mamamoo is one of my fav groups, havent heard their newest song yet but have heard all their previous ones. Egotistic is one of my top songs from them. Starry night is also a good one, the scenery there is amazing (i think they filmed it in new zealand or something, i forgot). Dinga is a really catchy song, follow up to that song is Aya which is good as well. All of their songs though are really good. They are the acapella, harmony, vocal queens. Speaking of, you should check out their performance from the korean show called Immortal Songs 2 (dont remember what the song was that they did) They also have a video called "Killing voice" where they sing mainly the highlights of all their songs.

It's impossible to tell you about Mamamoo without writing a long essay but since you asked here are some of the basics about the group's formation and early years and the 4 album project that included Egotistic as one of the title tracks: MMM was the first group to debut under new label RBW (Rainbowbridge World) on June 19, 2014 with the song Mr Ambiguous. RBW co-CEO Kim Dohoon (a legendary songwriter) assembled MMM with the concept of promoting the group's talent as singers and performers rather than selecting girly girls primarily based on their looks and dancing ability to fit one of the usual kpop gg marketing concepts such as cute, innocent, sexy or girl crush. The members were plucked from the scrap heap of audition rejects and retreads from other companies. Solar had failed about 50 auditions because she was thought to be too old and Hwasa had been bluntly told she was fat and ugly at one of her previous auditions. Moonbyul & Wheein moved to RBW after failing to debut with another company. Prior to debut RBW hosted a showcase for industry pros, where they were told MMM would fail and that they were crazy to debut them as their first group. RBW didn't have the money, staff or clout to support and promote Mamamoo so the girls got used to doing almost everything themselves. They busked on the streets to promote themselves and from the beginning they were involved in all creative aspects of their career from songwriting, vocal arrangements and choreography to styling and MV concepts. Mamamoo started with a retro concept that incorporated big band swing jazz and 60's soul music before branching out into other styles. They've gone on to create one of the most diverse discographies in kpop (or anywhere else) ranging from jazz, r&b, hip hop and latin pop to bossa nova, ballads, pop dance tracks and reggaeton songs like Egotistic and Illella. MMM began to gain traction with the general public in their rookie year when they repeatedly appeared on the singing competition tv show Immortal Songs 2, where they went up against some of the best singers in Korea and did well, unlike most kpop idols who had appeared on the show up til them. MMM was the first girl group to win on Immortal Songs and the first idol group to win multiple times, coming out on top in three episodes. Their 14 appearances on Immortal Songs are must-see vocal showcases, tho the tv network blocks reactions unless you heavily filter the video so you might want to watch them on your own time. My favorites are the gorgeous ballad Backwoods and their radically re-imagined version of the Tom Jones classic Delilah but they're all spectacular. In an early clue of their LGBTQ+ support they transformed Delilah from a song about a guy who knifes his cheating girlfriend and then begs for forgiveness into a lesbian passion play. In 2018 Mamamoo began a year long four album series called 4 Season 4 Color, which is an unprecedented project by a girl group, though as usual with Mamamoo 4S4C has never received the attention and recognition it deserves as a landmark artistic achievement. Each season's album was associated with a color and one of the members, who performed a self-composed solo song on "her" album, and each of the four title tracks explored a different stage of love. In January they kicked it off with the pre-release single Paint Me from the first album Yellow Flower, which was released in March and represented Spring and Yellow, symbolizing Attraction, with Hwasa as the featured member. Paint Me is the theme song for the 4S4C project and the lyrics and MV include most of the cyclical symbolic images and concepts used throughout the project. Paint Me is one of Mamamoo's vocal masterpieces and was my pick for 2018 SOTY. Each 4S4C title track MV follows a similar format, where each member expresses her own take on that season's color and emotion in her solo scenes and at the end the members gather together, showing their sisterhood bond and unity through thick and then, to quote the song Destiny, which expresses their belief that they were fated to meet and become best friends. Another way to look at the solo scenes is that they explore 4 stages or phases of the song's emotional theme. Egotistic was title track #2 from the Summer/Red album Red Moon featuring Moonbyul and, as you might have guessed, Red represents passion in the 4S4C color scheme and in the Egotistic MV each member's actions, props and costumes carry symbolic meaning. Solar's come hither looks into the camera, revealing outfits and pole dancing are sensual, seductive and liberating while Hwasa's bathtub and jaguar scenes convey wild, fierce and uninhibited, Moonbyul's chair toss and balcony rap are angry and independent, and Wheein is simply a heavily tattooed badass bitch on wheels who wants to burn his butt and dance in the flames. You could also see them as four stages in leaving an egotistic lover: Anger (Moonbyul), Defiance (Hwasa), Revenge (Wheein), Liberation (Solar). Or both, which is my opinion. There's more going on in the Egotistic MV but I've blabbed on long enough. Imo for your next Mamamoo reactions you should watch the guide videos by Purple Hawke and Moo YT, which are both in two parts. They're both extremely informative, entertaining and well-edited so don't worry about the length - they'll fly by. Purple Hawke's is the gold standard and Moo YT based her intro guide on Purple Hawke's but Moo YT's is more recent and up to date. Have fun with your deep dive into Mamamoo, which you may find more closely resembles a free fall into one of kpop's biggest rabbit holes. As moomoos like to say, Once you Wheein you can't Whee-out! 😂

The reason Moonbyul was in the Moon is the Album was called Red Moon and was part of the 4 seasons project and had a Moonbyul solo, Hwasa was called Yellow Flower, Whee In's was called White Wind, and Solar's was called Blue;s.

This MV is so beautiful and powerful, ethereal even. I totally missed the lyrics the first few times I watched it because the melody and images took my full attention. I finally looked up the lyrics and found it to be even more powerful after reading them. It is a song about declaring independence and taking on your own power and self worth after ditching a toxic relationship. I can relate to that. Beyond that ya'll make me giggle.

they do a variety of genres. they have decalcomanie and piano man for something more jazzy with bombastic vocals. wind flower has a beautiful mv and is more laidback and soulful. then um oh ah yeh is also kinda gay and one of their most catchy songs. yes i am is a empowerment anthem along with wanna be myself ( this one is a commercial they did but the song is rly good). they’re the best live though. they have a cover songs medley they perform called immortal songs medley and they also sound very good performing rude boy, my star and i miss you (b sides from their albums). they also have their queendom performances of good luck and destiny that are epic. their solo performances at their tours are really good, too. moonbyul dances in a suit and shows off her vocals, wheein can sing, dance and play drums. solar can sing high notes while pole dancing, and hwasa sings and dances with amazing stage presence. there are fancams of those performances but i’m not sure there are official recordings.

Mamamoo mvs always feel very real. They don’t use much cgi. It is often camera work and color editing. Camera angles and real stages. Rarely green screen work.
