This game was the best imo, at least best soundtrack.
100%. The only game that comes close is the GBA version of The Sims: Bustin’ Out, whose best tracks were mostly remade Sims 1 tracks anyway, but still very, very memorable, and one of the rare games that I revisit and beat in full at least once every few years.
Of course! I still love the semi-realistic art style so, so much, and the animations often had a more realistic quality that subsequent games couldn’t match, perhaps due to everything being depicted from afar. The Sims 2 is arguably the better game overall, but I still love to play the original, which still holds up. Managing needs can be an extreme pain though, and I’m so glad that motive deterioration is managed so much better in TS2. With that said, I absolutely hate the direction that the series has taken since, and I strongly doubt that I will ever play a new Sims game again, even if it were offered for free like the base game of The Sims 4 was. Which is such a shame, because I was an absolutely huge fan of The Sims during the 2000s. For me, the series died with the end of The Sims 2.
Absolutely agree, I feel like further games were not the same quirky and atmospheric. I think sound design has to do a lot with it, and game play starting to become more realistic, in both good and bad ways. First sims was way more over the top in best way compared to further games, probably to compensate for the graphics, wish later games kept more of it, balancing wacky and realistic nature of the first one.

I never got the chance to play sims 1-2, it seems with each new take on the series there's a little less gameplay.
If u dont mind me asking why didn’t u get the chance to plays sims 1-2 ??
