  • Try a dry bag made for kayaking as a laundry bag. They're lightweight and fold up small except for the closure, they're waterproof so they won't leak, and you can dump in as many glassfuls of water as you need along with the detergent packet and a few items of laundry. Squish it around to wash, dump and fill with clean water to rinse. No room in the sink? No problem! Also, I've had good luck with Enell front-clasp bras. Very supportive, no underwire.

  • My cruise favorites -1) double walled Contigo water bottle with a locking flip top and caribeanner handle I found this little unicorn at Ross for $8! 2) shoe caddy from Dollar Tree that only holds 6 shoes I pack carryon only so I don’t have much, but this was great for organizing smaller things (like body glide 😊) 3) the 4” foldable bins from Dollar Tree; one each for snacks/meds and emergency pouch/makeup and toiletries 4) assorted zip ties; I used zip ties to hang the shoe caddy from a hangar among other uses I’m with you on the toothpaste tabs !

  • Thanks for the product suggestions. I'll get the body glide for my Southern Caribbean cruise next year. My tip is to take magnets and put them on your stateroom door, makes it easy to find when your walking down the hall to your room!

  • I offer up my laundry hack which we have used on cruises, Airbnb's etc. First a vacuum storage bag size large (it's been the strongest bag we have found) to use instead of the sink. (I bought a scrubba dry bag years ago, it was to small for bulky items, and the plug came unglued.) Laundry strips (we used True Earth, do your own research and find a favorite), and a Rick Steve's clothes line. These all fit an a very small compression cube for travel. The laundry strips were used on our last trip, they were winners for taking out sweaty smells, although I will do a bit of spot scrubbing. Clothes into the bag, laundry strip on top, fill with enough water to be able to swish things around, and prop in the corner of the very small cruise shower. Then walk away and leave your clothes soak for an hour or two, come back spot scrub if needed, dump the water squeeze out your clothes, then rinse in the bag with fresh water. Really squeeze out your clothes, you can also use the towel roll method. We find it best to wash frequently, particularly on a cruise, as places to hang clothes to dry are limited, sometimes our clothesline works, sometimes we are creative with hangers. We have also switched to a salt crystal deodorant, so no left over deodorant smell in our laundry. Laundry services on cruise ships can be really hard on your clothes, and shrink things.

  • Oh my goodness! You are amazing thanks for all this info and being so honest. I've never heard of the BodyGlide but will be looking into it!! My all time favorite travel gear is.... for cruising I like to bring magnet hooks. And I always have extra empty Zip-lock baggies for who knows what for all my travels. I also use them to keep my liquid shampoo & ect in just incase they leak while flying or whatever. I know there is solid/bar shampoos & all but they're expensive for daily/weekly & extended stay trips. So the zip-locks are my all around travel hack Thanks again for your insight.

  • Tide sink packs wouldn’t work well on a cruise ship with a small sink but they are awesome in a hotel room sink. Have used them twice when travelling internationally. The secret is to ring them out afterwards and roll them tightly in a towel to get the majority of moisture out

  • I use laundry sheets rather than pods/liquids I fill a small dry bag with water and the sheets to agitate the laundry properly Bonus - they don’t count as a liquid as they look like a dryer sheet. I cut them into quarters at home and put in a reusable ziplock

  • Great tips I havent seen anywhere else! I have not tried Tide sink pods, but have had good success in tiny sinks with an Amazon find! I searched for "hand wash laundry detergent" and found tiny sink laundry sheets that fit into a 1.5" x 2.5" plastic case! They worked great for a few small things in a small sink - undies, socks, camis...

  • A short extension cord, like 3 feet. Sometimes the power blocks are heavy and fall off the socket, so plugging the block to the extension cord fixes that. Also extends the distance, and of course, you can plug more things. And if the socket slits are loose the prongs on the cord can be bent a little.The 3 footer I *always* take. But for cruises, I also take much longer extension cord.

    @achevres@achevres28 күн бұрын
    • Some cruise lines list extension cords as something you can’t bring, so I play it safe and get one from them.

  • My personal must is a timer type watch instead of my iwatch. Ship time stays the same, but sometimes, wifi will change the time on the iwatch…….causing a lot of pier runners. Lolol. I have a question about the body glide. I’m a runner and currently use the arm and hammer brand. But, on longer runs, when it’s very hot, I still get raw spots. I’m wondering if it was hot where you used the body glide? The chub rub brand was awful. There are brand that many runners use that are specifically for runners, but they’re very pricey. I go through tubes faster than deodorant lol.

    @lynnconroy8@lynnconroy822 күн бұрын
    • I was in New England, so it wasn’t hot at all. I have used regular stick deodorant as chub rub prevention, in Atlanta in September, and it works great too. I have some short trips coming up where I’ll use the Body Glide again and report back!
