Girl In A Coma is known for crunchy guitars, seamless musical interplay and Nina Diaz's alluring voice. But here, the San Antonio trio deftly gets back to basics to explore not just the form of its songs, but also the soul of its lyrics.
Set List:
"Smart"
"Knocking At Your Door"
"So"

One of those bands that should have made it big. :(
My favorite npr tiny desk music....I keep coming back to this years later!!!
Me too!
Same
Same here
Me too! So so good!
Been listening to them since i was 18 I am now 33. I still feel the same feeling, such a lovely voice.
Same for me
Nina is so humble. Even though she is the shit she doesn't act like her. Her smile is so shy and real. When I met her, I told her I listened to their music everyday and she stopped what she was doing and looked me right in the face like a 5 year old and said thank you, I really appreciate that. It was the cutest thing and I love them so much.
Her subtle vibrato is priceless
I never get sick of hearing these three songs. So intense and amazing.
i miss these girls...... i know nina is still performing, but would really like to see a reunion some day. puro tejas!!!
Joey Clemenza they are playin April in San Antonio!!!!
Check out FEA Phanie and Jen’s new band.
I hope for a reunion too but they are all not on speaking terms. I'm very close to the drummer she always keeps me up to date
@@miasfit84 what happened?
@SX1995able Nina is sober and starting a new project. Phanie is killing it with Her ands Jens band Fea.
AND.. They are SUPER nice... I always talk to them after the shows and they are not full of themselves or rude. So real and awesome. They deserve recognition for talent and character
The first track buzzes with bright eyes and a vocal elasticity that thrills.
She sings like a dream ,rhythm guitar is absolutely perfect , and she writes beautiful melodies.
Omg I no idea they were on here too! It’s not very often you see people from San Antonio on platforms like this. It’s amazing to see even this video being about 9 years old. Girl in a Coma was/is a huge stable in the San Antonio music scene.
I love love Nina's voice..... So powerful!!
2024 and still my favorite
2018 almost 2019 and I still watch this video. I fell in love with them and Nina since the first time I saw them.
Man... nina is just gorgeous and her voice is undoubtedly amazing!!
I've listened to these songs a million times already. But listening to "So" acoustically blew my mind! Just another reason why Girl In A Coma is my favorite band!! They make me proud to be from San Antonio!
Dude. Im in love with this lady.❤
i love these npr tiny desk concerts. they have such an array of artists... bands like girl in a coma and noah and the whale, to people like macklemore and adele! it's awesome.
Miss this band! Hope they make a comeback
More like "Boy In a Coma" ....I could listen to that beautiful music all day. I finished three more pages in my book, listening and inspired by your music. Thank you.
I am simply in love with Nina .... she is beautiful and her musicality is wonderful !!!
I love them. I miss them
This is probably one of the best bands and tiny desk performers of the last decade.
See them live. Nina burns with an intensity few gurl rockers on the scene today can come anywhere near matching. She's breathtaking!
Love this rhythm section on this (w/out drums)...real clean and driving. Dig it!
right before their show here, outside the venue in an alley behind their infamous van, i saw Nina smoking a cig.. best believe i ran to her and hugged her so much!!
I had the chance to see GIAC several years ago in SW Oklahoma. They opened for Joan Jett and I thoroughly enjoyed their music. The three musician rock/alt format is difficult to pull off but they did it. After they played they were in the back of the auditorium selling CDs, signing posters (I got one), and dancing to Joan Jett rocking out. Very nice, down to earth girls. If I get the chance I'll see them again!
My gosh Nina is stunning.
J G singer
This might be the best Tiny Desk Concert on KZhead.
Beautiful.. 3 Ladys and ...so groovy Sound ! THX!
A musical journey I did not want to end. Thanks.
best acoustic, I heard for a long time ...
I love this band. NPR is where I discovered them a few years ago. This acoustic set is really nice. You can get a sense of the raw power of their usual electric setup--which totally rocks. I also enjoy their unique takes on older songs.
This is how to do it. how its done!
Her voice is so so so so amazing. holy crap. So jealous lol
I still remember meeting this chick at a gas station. Good luck to her, amazing voice for sure!

I've watched a lot of these tiny desk concerts but i must have never seen this one before.i don't know what there records sound like, and I'm not sure i would buy one,but some of the comments here seem way of to me there is nothing wrong with the way this girl sings the instrumentation is simple but that's not necessarily a bad thing.these girls should keep doing what they do as they do it well.
