''if you want to be good at halfgard you need to be good at jiujitsu'' thx Gordon...
Lol thought same thing
It's kind of true though. I get from butterfly-half to ashi all the time, but they defend or escape. Him saying that spoke to me. I cam get from half gaurd to leglock positions, bit can't finish. I guess I need to focus on those techniques.
He’s so polarizing. He says the smartest dumbest shit
Hes is right though. Half guard isnt useful if you arent able to transition to other positions of control to attack from.
Start by knowing everything
Bernardo faria: i love half guard Every oponnent of faria: yeah i know
I love how Gordon’s biggest challenge in matches is people afraid to do anything and just stalling
It’s honestly common in bjj to get locked up and have to try to think about what to do next
@@ashtoncomer935 I would agree to a certain extent. In No-Gi, stalling is useless, there is not nearly as much grip fighting and many times athletes stall for points/cardio recovery. Grip fighting in the Gi cause most of the stalls. In No-Gi, stalls are more deliberate. You should always be thinking Sub or Die.
Huge Honor to watch this.
No it's my huge honor..
Huge honor for me too 😂😂😂

John Danaher: Attacking the Turtle Gordon Ryan: Attacking the Face Both great DVDs
In the middle of this instructional and I truly cannot explain how good it is.
I've got Gordon's sit up guard instructional and completed running through it with a partner. Would you get this half guard instructional next or the supine guard next? I want to complete them in the best order and the half guard one seems like it builds on the information from the first two.
@@tommcalpine6062 probably I would go half guard. It’ll give you a bigger game but supine will link them together very well.
How much did it cost?
@@Funkyfm9 most of Gordons instructional wre around $200 a pop
@@andrewlevistermma dude they have like 50% off every month, and if you just put the dvd in your shopping cart and close it you’ll get an email with an additional with 25% off. Nobody should pay more than $50 tops for it
I love how he just addressed everybody stalling and acting scared to fight him in the middle of this half guard preview, gotta love this guy
0:52 butterfly half guard 5:05 z guard 6:02 deep half
z guard would be if the hips were opposite how gordons are right?
amazing to see how Gordon’s half guard is just adding to / filling out the foundation that John has laid in his own half guard instructionals. speaks volumes to Gordon’s commitment to learning and John’s prowess as an instructor
Love the way he explains it strategically.
I love watching gordon compete now vs when he was younger. He doesn't even break a sweat anymore. It's amazing how well he moves through his series, with anyone he rolls with and they are always deferent and flawless. 🤙
Genius! You definitely see this at work with Gordon.
Gordan is phenomenal in bjj, and also good teacher that gets your attention.
This made so much sense. Thankyou sir🙏🏾
He's a pretty good instructor. Very helpful
Wow this is so amazingly accurate, it makes so much sense
Thanks a lot for this amazing instructional video! 👍👍
Oh man I literally got a Andre galvao ad for his guard passing lol
This video is just absolute fire 🔥
Bro teach us your slap technique pls. Asking for a friend...

This is great. Great Video. Gordon is very good at explaining details.
Great review of his main game! Very interesting insights!
Huge honor for me to be watching this
Thank you so much gordon
Absolutely fantastic , thank you gentleman.
Bernardo is so hyped up I don’t even know what he is saying half the time lol Keep up the good work.
Thank you for this
Great video, love them. In future video's could you demo the moves at full speed at the end of video? Thanks
Great vid💛
The concept of interconnected systems using the strength of one to cover the weakness of another is so valuable.
Mathematics, figuring out your own series/system!! Hence your style, your martial arts!🥋 oss!
Great video!
Goo-Are-Done Ryan
Damn. brilliant
Great Advices !
Good tips!
The best to EVER DO it ... no cap
My favorite thing in the world is Bernardo saying “huge honor for ME”
You need to be able to do many things from half guard. Reguard, leg locks, ashe garami, leg locks, dog fight, leg locks, tickle, leg locks and also leg locks.
Lol. Heard that one.
What guard is the best to give the most slaps to your opponent
The Galvao Guard
@@titan1369 so much burn
Preferably a guard where your opponent has a free hand to flip the middle finger at you before you slap.
Standing
Mount 😉
Wow... it make sense now
Mestre adoro o canal principalmente com lutadores de grande técnica... mas seria bom uma tradução para o público brazuca... um abraço... sou de Manaus Amazonas
I watch about 2 mins and then get over excited and walk about my house a bit and then watch another 2 mins
“Okay guys we’re here to today with Gordon Ryan, and it’s a huge honor for me. He’s going to show us how to bitch slap the fu** outta someone.” 😂
I like gordon Style ~~ thanks
"You cant just be a half guard player" But i want to be a halfguard player. I am good at half guard. You cant make me do those other things.
Lolsss
Huge honor for me
He sounds just like Danaher when he coaches, love it.
But not in super slow motion.
GRANDES PERSONAS LOS DOS MUY MUY HUMILDES POR ALGO SE JUNTARON 🙏
Only by listening to the King has benefited my mindset of Jiujitsu.
When you play half guard exclusively and I feel like gordon is talking to.you
same lol
I love it an hate it at the same time.
🤐
Ryan Gordon: If you want to be a good half guard player, you have to be able to play all the other guards that I ALSO have an instructional for.
I can hear the John Danaher influence in his explanation
Instand like and save
o melhor de todos no momento !
Hespect!
De quando é esse vídeo? Gordon parece bem menor
Its the Hugh Jonor Formi
Addendum to half guard system: "half guard to double slap transition"
can gordon pls make a tutorial on how to slap the bass like the bass is andre galvao?
EPIC
Can Gordon do a slapping seminar and instructional plz
It's good
Gordon is like NEO he can see the Matrix' code
Gordon has a great slapping system ..... 1. Talk shit 2. Slap feints 3 👋
I love watching Messi practice bjj.
The key to being good at half guard is to be good at every other guard 🤓
Gordon's favourite Brazilian song is"Nao doi um tapinha nao doi so um tapinha" MC Naldinho
manifesting a time for this to finally go on daily deal so my broke ass can afford it
if one of the systems fails...use open palm strikes
Just imagine in 20 years Gordon too shall raise a new generation of killers in between naps on the Matt’s like danaher
Skinny at this time !!! Before the 💣
I have been doing this for 20 years and feel like I know nothing
first 3 minutes feel like he's attacking me personally lol
is knee shield half guard the same as z guard?
Yes, but Z-guard emphasizes the knee low, down by the hip whereas knee shield places the knee higher, by the shoulder/chest.
“People like to back up and stall.” But Gordon’s the one on his ass making people come to him. I’ve always wondered what would happen if Gordon’s opponent sat down with him.
Maybe Andre Galvao should have learned some of this and he could have dealt with that slap
5:34... you can also throw a hard half Nelson and pull his head under while shifting your hips perpetually to his body and end up with a reverse headlock.... sometimes, they'll give up a crucifix! Said this 52 year old ex wrestler.... Lol.. just saying 😌
100 Hand Slaps of Shaolin
Bernardo why is he running in half guard! Ask him!
Ryan looks like Thor.
Ryan always sound so nervous
Teach us how to slap fools in their mouth Gordon.I want to see a complete breakdown of that sweet, sweet technique.
Oh shhhiitt
Is this before or after the "slap fest" ?
John is whispering somewhere
how about the Batman slap tho?
Does This Ryan guy compete? He looks like he is alright.
Whats the lower leg shift?
Pre TRT Gordon
When is Gordon collecting enough balls and doing MMA like he said he would, let's go already, I want to see if his systems work the way he says they do..
They do..... I prove that in every competition I enter and George has proved it for decades in mma....

Gordon sure does love Japanese...
So many slapping comments 😂😂😂
He really lost a lot of weight during that few months
Yeah hes been sick as hell
I wish he said supine instead of soonpine
funny how PEDs can change a person within 2 years
Why does he say "soon pine guard" and not supine ?
You say tomato, i say tomanto
Gordon Ryan's instructional DVD's are exceptional and worth every penny. The only thing that could've made it better for me is if he branded it 'American' i.e. American open guard, American half guard, etc. (just kidding, but seriously)
