www.thelastbelle.com/ The Last Belle is an award winning 2D animated short film, featuring the voices of Sienna Guillory, Colin McFarlane and Amanda Donohoe, and directed by Neil Boyle. The film was created using 'old-school' technology: 35,000 hand-drawn and hand-painted pieces of artwork, shot directly onto 35mm film with a rostrum camera, to achieve a traditional 'cartoon' feel. For much more behind-the-scenes info and a link to our blog please visit www.thelastbelle.com/ Thanks for watching, and please 'Like' us or leave a comment.

    • “It’s not the conventional pretty girl” bro did you see how cute her out fit was? Or how smooth and flowy her hair looked? Her name is also *literally* Rosie. Unless you’re referring to the goofy/cartoonish looking male characters compared to unnaturally beautiful and realistic looking women in comparison. That does happen and it’s kind of annoying and I get your point there, however Rosie is still very much conventionally attractive/ pretty.

    • @@doggothesavior9107 I'm pretty sure they WERE referring to the first point. Rosie is a pretty girl in her own way, but it's getting a little weird how you have to describe the texture of her hair when it's literally just a 2 dimensional drawing with not that much detail.

    • No, see, that's the thing. 3d animation is much cheaper in production, easier in workfliw management and less reliant on individual artistic merit of the animatiors. That really is the entire reason why commercial animation has gone almost entirely 3d. Which is a shame, because I doubt it can ever be quite as disarmingly charming as this.

There's a chase sequence of the main character 'Tack' chasing down the thief, and the backgrounds have the checker board patterns that twist and turn and change perspective. It's so incredible! I highly recommend checking out even just that sequence on KZhead. The way these animators executed the whole subway scene was just next-level awesome!

Except no happy ending with a handsome English bartender 😮‍💨 Last night I was invited out for dinner and as I was putting on my makeup I paused and thought, why am I even bothering? Sure enough, the guy showed up in a raggedy t shirt and shorts, like what you would wear around the house for comfort. He even said he always sees high class women with these raggedy dudes, and that I’m too cosmopolitan for people in this city. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Idk what I’m supposed to do with that information.

From the frame by frame style to the environment (the computers in the office scene, the TV, VCR at that apartment, the mobile phone and the way they talk about the internet). It gives me a nostalgic feeling. Almost as if I've seen this on TV back when I was little. P.S whats interesting is most of what the blind date describes himself more accurately applies to the bartender.

      @jinggu.@jinggu.3 жыл бұрын
    • That’s interesting. There also may be some evidence that may be true. I’m gonna list the possible evidence. 1. Colorless-The man has no natural skin color. As we see in this animation, everyone else has a skin color. Also, his walls and floor are are white/grey/black. 2. Beers- There is no way that the man has not killed himself drinking all those beers in one go. He would’ve died of alcohol poisoning that moment or WAY before. It depends on how long he’s been drinking. 3. Train- When the train hits the guy, the train keeps going, almost like nothing was hit in the first place. If a REAL person got hit, I bet they would have stopped at least. 4. Noises- The guy doesn’t have a proper voice. He makes small sounds, but he doesn’t say a single word during this entire animation. Everyone else has a voice, NOT including the office workers and train passengers. 5. Injuries- There is a scene where he hits the concrete ground hard and leaves a human-shaped hole but doesn’t seem hurt at first, just really drunk. Also, when he falls down those stairs and lands, he falls asleep almost like he wasn’t hurt at all. But with supporting evidence, there is arguing evidence. 1. Email- During the office scene, she did receive an email from someone. It could have been someone else, but she said it was from “him”. She was clearly talking to someone at least. 2. Train- The train did say “Out of Service” but I don’t know what that means for trains. Maybe, that there is no driver and it’s a runaway. But, I don’t know. 3. Emotions- It looks like that when she talking about this man, she’s genuinely happy about it and when he doesn’t arrive, she seems very mad. It doesn’t seem like she’s faking her emotions to make him seem real. Tell me if I missed anything and I’ll add it. List your evidence as arguing or supporting so I know.

  • The Richard Williams influence is EVERYWHERE in this film, probably why the animation is so amazing. Homages to The Thief and the Cobbler abound. It's proof that all the computer technology in the world cannot duplicate the beauty of what the human hand can do. I cling to animating on paper with my trusty 3B pencil and refuse to give it up.

  • Rosie arranged for a blind date, the guy got drunk, was a no--show, and instead she found love with a single bartender. Somehow the circumstances worked out in her favour. Reminds me of the late 80s/early 90s old school animation. Riotously funny little gem--the film is way above par! 🤣🤣🤣🇬🇧😻😸

  • Let me say that this 20 minute animation is better than half of the animated films that come out this year. What really makes this work is that despite the predictable story, the lovely voices, graceful movements, and majestic score make this a true beauty.

And I laughed at how he tries to leave the house and just flings out the window XD The train scene kind of reminded me of the style of Courage the Cowardly Dog with the way his mouth stretches. Wonderful animation. It's kind of a sad story, but also hilarious and sweet. This is my second time watching it ;) I'll probably return again. It's just so good.

  • What a great short film! As everyone else has said, the nostalgic, late 80s/early 90s animation was fantastic, the dialogue was just enough to tell the story. It was humorous and dynamic, with fantastic direction connecting the visuals and music. The storyline was relatable and the story so well crafted that I truly wished for more! I wanted to see the rest of the Rosie and the Bartender's love story blossom!
