The fact that Wesker passes on the controls to Chris - delegating responsibility and quite literally leaving Chris to fend for himself in the mansion - is so gloriously meta I can't contain myself
In that part I was expecting the iconic line "Since you are one of my best men..I'll let YOU handle this" It would be a legendary moment
As is the fact that the actor (Greg) playing the S.T.A.R.S firearms guy (Barry) was the most proficient at shooting.

Even with the tank controls, I can't emphasize enough how great it was to solve puzzles and fight zombies for the first time in a 3D environment as a young teenager in the 90s. This game was awesome at the time.

The artwork was done first then they casted them based on who looked the most like the illustrations. I think they did a decent job considering how inexperienced they all were.

The internet is amazing. Thank you so much for putting these videos together with these guys. It gets me emotional thinking about playing these games with my brothers during my childhood. That Capcom logo, using tank controls for the first time, and taking turns on the same save file. It's pure nostalgia and I'm so grateful to be able to experience this. Now I'm as old as these guys were when they filmed for the game. Feels like yesterday, man.

@@VladAngelOfDarkness i hope a similar set to worked on for code veronicas voice cast but especially Alyson Court. One work id love to see played and interviewed would be for Resident Evil Outbreak. Alyson Court was very involved with that project along with knwoing some of the ideas that were cut.

This and RE2 were the Best games of the RE franchise!
The trick is to run past all of the enemies, and only kill certain enemies. There are a few different ways to get around the mansion, so if you clear one path, you can save a lot of ammo for later on, when the game gets to be more intense.
The cast reacting to the Live Action Intro is pure gold. ☣️

If you told me back in 1998 that the original cast of resident evil would be playing the first game on a video channel (KZhead didn't exist then) I would think you were pulling my leg.
Huge shout-out to the original cast. You have no idea how impactful Resident Evil 1 was to this young twenty-something (at the time). A true classic.

This is amazing seeing the original actors playing the game they were in for the first time. I do remember playing it part way through once, but what I really remember is watching my two older brothers playing it constantly when it first released and I was about 6 or 7 at the time and I remember being absolutely terrified to the point where I couldn't sleep and it was also my introduction to zombies. Hearing that ending theme at the end of the video brought me back to those days and it got me choked up a little bit 🥲. Thank you for posting this.

The tank controls have claimed another victim...Eric gave up in the dining room trying to move Jill around 😆. I remember it taking a good long time to get used of those controls! Great video.
At first it's weird but I didn't take me long to get it, that was part of gaming back then, they were inventing all these different games and controls, there was no blue print for how to make a game like today, plus the tank controls were necessary for the camera angles
I adore tank control, I like how they are super intuitive once you master them. But I totally agree they are hard at first, especially for non gamer like these guys. I actually loved this era of gaming when there was no standard for controls, every game was quite different just about their feel for that reason.

I honestly would be very okay with a new resident evil game that went back to the set camera angles and tank controls. They were challenging to learn at first...but once I got used to it, I loved them.
pretty damn cool you guys were able to find these guys and get them to play the original game. watching their reactions and hearing them talk about it is like the Ultimate Commentary on the game. you guys should make a Resident Evil Documentary getting interviews with the Voice actors, developers, cut scene Actors, and fans on its lasting impressions over the years. maybe get it crowd funded? would be pretty cool way to celebrate Resident Evil's upcoming 30th anniversary in a couple of years from now.

I can't believe it, the actors that I have seen so many times in my life because I love RE1 and the live action video at the begining is really cool. It's like a Saturday film on public TV hahahah. I wish Jill and Rebecca actresses join at the team some day :((( I heard from Barry actor time ago that she was a student woman or something like that. She was really impatient to end the filming to can leave.
I was fortunate enough of having an older brother that bought himself the Director's Cut version of this game. So when he was done playing it, I went ahead and played it myself. Its a good thing PS2s were and are backwards compatible with PS games, otherwise I would never have witnessed, first hand, this masterpiece of a game in its original uncut form.
Backwards compatibility and a DVD player were huge selling points for the PS2, I was fortunate enough to be friends with a guy who had a cousin with this game when it first came out, I was in grade 5 or 6 and it was the scariest shit ever

I don't know if they're actually friends - they just acted cordial and professional with each other, like most casts of stuff do at conventions or reunions.
Loved it! While I would have liked to have seen more, I appreciate at least seeing them play a little bit of it with their commentary.
Give us a TV series with these guy reprising their roles. It can be a drama, with no zombies, just showing how they moved on with their lives (we'll figure out why Wesker's still alive, it doesn't matter). A man can dream, right? EDIT: And you play the ending theme? Are you trying to kill me? Or make me cry? Or both? You've succeeded, you can go to bed now.
It's crazy to watch this! Cause I absolutely love resident evil and especially. The original 1996 version over any RE title, to see the original actors play it is crazy. To even think they were in this all those years ago and never actually played it and to see themselves in what they were helping create. Wild
This game is one of the reasons why I love puzzle games where you have to figure things out to progress, like an RPG
