As I got older, the look of clean rubber with no dressing is the best look for my cars.
Funny you say that. I have a “satin” tire shine, I think by Black Magic, that I love the more I get older. Goes on shiny, dries and just gives a clean minimally shined look. Very classy.
I treat it like polish. Goes on throughly and rubbed off
Car pro dark side gives a satin finish I love it
Same when I first started my car care journey I like super shiny now I like a more satin look
This has actually opened my eyes to tire cleaning. It's underrated.
I hope AMMO never gets away from helping us non-professional hobby detailers, who may never touch a rare vintage or supercar...
YES! My first car in 2000 was an 1989 Formula Firebird. I have every inch of that car memorized. I loved this episode, thanks!
Larry singing Whitesnake while cleaning a Trans Am only makes sense 😂👍
Ohhhh Man, my dream trifecta!!!!!!!!!! GNX, 89 Turbo Trans Am and Syclone!!!!!!!!!! Come on Mega Millions and Powerball,,,,LOL oooops forgot to say that the detail job was excellent Larry!!!!!!!!!!!!
typhoon over syclone still I great trifecta
I appreciated the analogy of black vs white with scratches. For some reason, I was always under the impression that white reflects light differently than black and what’s why the scratches weren’t as noticeable. Now I feel really stupid for not realizing it’s just a different “background” color! I really enjoy your logical yet detailed mentality to detailing.
I've owned fourth gen Firebirds for 24 years and still absolutely love all generations. Beautiful TA!
Beautiful Trans am. Yes, sir. That browning on tires can be a pain. I like to use K&N air filter cleaner on my tires. Works, OUTSTANDING.
GNX, Syclone, or this turbo Trans Am, I’ll take any one and never be happier.
That weekend in June may be cutting it close with my return from deployment. But I'll try and work something out. I can't imagine a better experience!
I admire the way you work that you perform with love and I appreciate every new information that I benefit from when I watch you and I wish you to progress and continue for the better.
No way I saw this car in the background of one of your videos when you went to pick up a car from your friends garage and I asked you if it’s possible you detail this car, the reason, I had that car when I was 19 years old in Ontario we had two in Ontario and one in Vancouver only three in Canada and I own one down and my favourite memories in cars until today call related to that vehicle, because everybody thought it was a regular GTA it was a sleeper that guy was so fast I loved it. Thank you so much for doing this video I appreciate it on so many different levels.
SUNDAY is a FOAM DAY!! Finally a class from a group of experts with immaculate work ethic! Sad that its limited space but I doubt that AMMO would end there
best video in a long time! love the 80's vehicles
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I instantly clicked. I have a 1990 Pontiac Trans Am GTA in the same white with gold wheels! Its not nearly as mint as this one but I'm restoring it to maybe somewhere close. Great video AMMO!
Absolutely love this video! What a great car! Keep up the amazing work Larry
My favorite TA, looks really good Larry after doing your magic on it!
Love that Pontiac FireBird, a Real Rare Bird it is. Beautiful condition and after the AMMO Treatment, the Sale Price will be at the TOP of the Scale. Nicely Done Larry, If we all had some extra $$$$ just sitting around???? 😎..
Thank you Larry for detailing one of my favorite cars. I always loved the Trans Am GTA growing up, however, this anniversary edition is super special, I dream that I can someday detail my car as well as you, If I can do 10% as good of a job as you, I would be happy with the result...thank you for your videos, they're so inspiring and entertaining as well as useful. God Bless you always Larry!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Been waiting for this episode since it was mentioned you would be doing in previous episode. Had a 84 Trans Am in high school and always wanted a GTA. One day will get one!
Excellent work as always.
I bought a 1889 GTA new. White with the "camel" interior. Five-speed manual transmission. The Turbo Trans Am was the twentieth-anniversary model.
Larry, the details are always fantastic! Sometimes more impressive, is that the other cars in your studio not getting blasted with the foam cannon or wash process!
Finally back to regularly scheduled programs!
Those rims have got to be some of the best out there.
Amazing collection and very fortunate to own it and enjoy it
As someone that builds, restores and inspects classic cars for a living, i have to say great job. I wish anyone even remotely local did half the job you did on this Turbo T/A.
The training is an awsome news!
I miss my 1986 Trans Am. Slow as molasses but had charm and character for miles. T-tops were a off most of the summer.
I'll agree with you 100 percent Larry, I had a 72 BMW 2002, it was a rough daily driver, decided to sell it, had a guy come around & wash it inside & out, then he did a cut & polish, cost me about $1000, damn it looked amazing, sold it for more than $2000 than I paid for it, & that was years ago before older cars went for crazy money, Rj in Oz
89 GTA was my dream car. The year I graduated high school. 😊
Interesting detail of the Firebird! I need to polish my white paint soon. Please do a lengthy close-up detail of the 1937 Cord mentioned near the end of the video. Such a sexy car.
Watch almost all your videos Larry , big fan. One thing I have always wondered is when you are using the pressure washer on a vehicle in the shop doesn’t the water overspray get on the other car in the next bay? Would some type of curtain you could pull over in between the bays while you use the pressure washer be beneficial? Similar to a shower curtain type setup for lack of a better way to describe it …. Just an idea …. Love your content, keep up the great work!
Cloth Hardtop cars were available but very limited.
I use an old school white wall cleaner from Superior Products and it takes care of all the browning. Best I've used (White Wall 1000)
Sadly 3000 is a bit to much for me since id have to fly in from Germany, would've loved to take part. Im still grateful for everything you do and the great videos you carefully prepare for us!
I had an 87 Trans Am GTA at 17 yrs old that car was amazing. Surprised I never got a ticket lol not to say I didn't get pulled over lol but knowing the cops got me out of tickets but also means parents find out too lol
Larry, Larry, Larry, the GTA was NOT a base. It was a top trim option. Yes the TTA shared a lot of “looks” with the GTA but it was more a Pontiac grand natl than a TA.
On darker paints after a paint correction and polish the darker paint will shine but with white paint after correction and polish the white paint will have a glow I've seen this with my Alpine White BMW.
So in Canada in 1990 I bought one in Ontario for $62,000 Canadian plus tax so it was double the price of a regular GTA because we only had three in Canada and they were only 1500 of them made worldwide and these emblems are made with actual gold leaf
it also came with Indy 500 Official Pace Car driver & passenger side door sticker package
4.6 0-60 for that era is actually really fast
Larry, try Stoners Tarminator. Spray it in a microfiber rag and wipe the tire down. Cleans this waxy type film off tires in a breeze without the scrubbing and the tire is left perfectly clean, ready to accept tire shine, or not.
One of the best products ive ever used on tires to clean them is a product called incredible pink. Theyre out of maine I believe. Amazing stuff, and you can dilute it for all kinds of cleaning.
Hope to see you do the blue zr1
That car looks good
this car was based with the upgraded 3,8l grand national by asc. this car supposedly was the same as the gnx. I was working a Pontiac at the time and until the last gen f-body came bueatiful cars looks on a GTA but with a turbo!. cheers
Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you to do a firebird??
Jeejj, my best detailer is here again. But also explaining stuff is also one of youre best points❤
Larry!!!!!!!!! check out jay leno getting his F1 detailed ASAP!!!
Always love watching you work, I wish I could go to Denver… what advice (besides buying an air compressor) would you give someone to clean out the polishing pads that doesn’t have an air compressor? For the weekend washers…
Dawn Powerwash Platinum, warm water and spin them dry.
@10:57 good thing you left the lights on, don't need any squirrels making a mess in the shop.
The V6 Turbo Trans Am is the same Buick 3800 that's in the GNX but in the Trans AM the engine is rated at 300 hp .
When you did the explanation about white paint hiding scratches, I was a little saddened that you didn’t show the ford edge and white ammo van with the scratches from years ago
A quick wipe with a cloth using lacquer thinner will clean tires instantly, no brushing or scrubbing. Then apply your favorite tire dressing.
Been watching this channel for a while now, those handheld machines they use to polish the car - can you just buy those? How do you learn to use them?
I miss your old videos
Kitt 2.0!!
as a detail shop, he could use a mechanic, specifically for completing resto repairs (minor) like the ones he keeps saying he is checking for to report to the owner.
Did you get a chance to detail any cars while in Australia? Was looking forward to seeing your reaction and thoughts on some of the Aussie cars..
Yes Land Cruiser 70 Series episode coming soon
Dig the ET headrests.
Not all had leather seats, approx 150-+ TTA cloth cars exist.
And some were hard tops.
Correct, the rarest is the cloth and hardtop combo. If I remember correctly there are only about 20 of them.
I just bought a set of bfg ta radials and they turned brown within a month
any tips or tricks on white wall tires? something that doesn't affect the rubber of the tires.
I love how larry thinks of his 2.2 M subscribers that we all know how to polish and are comfortable with one...well that's A LOT of folks to know polishing. Now it's possible but not so likely. Sadly, I messed up every time I have tried..not ruined but just didn't get the results I wanted. 😞
Can you recommend a great detailer in Northern VA,DC area?
I'm really struggling on removing oxidation on my red GMC Typhoon single stage cladding. Any tips? I just remove paint but haze doesn't go away.
Love that car, great video!
So larry i need a finwl piece to my van tool arsenal. I want a RUPES. bit thinking LC DUO.. ROTARY/DA. what you think bout the polisher❤
AMMO Rupes 21 :)
Neat car. The only F-Body from the 80s that I liked. I wish they had a manual transmission for it... notice the Corvette brakes? Also, this was faster than a Corvette!! Oh, and Pontiac engineers were not thrilled to have a Buick engine in their car...
Lazza did you pick up the Nike shoes in Australia? 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Gm larr❤
How to clean white Letters? If they are a bit yellow and dirty?.. didn’t got it away with carpro tyreclean or so
The Turbo Firebird had the same engine as the GNX
Yes same engine as the GNX/ Grand National, however the heads are different on the Trans Am because the engine compartment is tighter, they took the heads off the 3.8 liter buick leSabre so it would fit inside the TTA engine compartment. All 3 share the 3.8 liter engine, slight changes were made to the GNX and the TTA, all 3 cars are badass cars !!!
How about a video on whitewalls....
Can we get a reaction video to the guys detailing Jay lenos f1?
So Plum is safe to use on tires?
Keeping a '76 caddy but getting rid of a grand national and a syclone? Did he fall and hit his head?!?!
Hopefully i can save $3000 for that class by june
Firebirds are nice but give me a red IROC-Z with the 5.7L any day.
If i was reading it right, those were some ancient BFG Comp 2 TAs. I would replace them...
I saw the 0-60 time and was like nope, not possible. But alas, they somehow managed to do it according to multiple sources. The stated 250 bhp isn't enough to do that but it seems as though Pontiac downplayed the numbers.
Mustang destroyer and faster than the '89 Corvette.
Pontiac with their ridiculous steering wheels in the 80's. Love it!!!
Did they use the same engine as the Grand National or the Typhoon/Syclone?
Similar engine to the GnX with slightly different heads, exhaust, and pistons to fit the engine compartment.
No, the 3.8L Buick is a complete different engine that the 4.3L Chevy. They are cousins.
LARRY THE LOBSTER 🦞
What does the owner of that collection do for a living?
Anyone who lives in Arizona, New Mexico, or West Texas should bookmark this as we see this happen to our tires in just a few months.
Where's the grille? How does the engine get any air?
It gets air from under the nose via an air dam.
damn she looks thicc af! i love it
KITT
I would not sell that 09 zr1. Bad move imo
JEEZ JORDAN.
just played with you on csgo!
Gooooooood morning
Seems odd that the tires got that bad in only fear years, especially being 6 years old only.
But still use rupes compounds and pads.
Its actually wrong ,these cars had @300-350hp but were underrated to not compete with the Corvette at the time. They were doing 0-60 faster than most Ferrari's in the 80s.
First?
