In the states this stuff is automated. I worked at a place where we made the inside of oil filters and many of the stamped parts. The high-speed machines did all the work. They must get very little pay for there to be a profit.

Don't be stupid, made by hand is slow and low productive, they have no match for fully automated pure mechanised production line, you should have noticed their production rate is really low by today's industrial standards, the only thing makes sense is the human labour is incredibly low from such production method, like no human rights.

European cars are sought after globally due to their trusted reputation of quality and innovation. I can't find a single Indian designed & manufactured car that comes close to the level of BMW, Mercedes or Audi. And i'm not even gonna include the top dogs like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren. There's a reason why Toyota decided to create a collaborative agreement with BMW and not Tata or Mahindra.

Many people have questions about quality and safety here on this forum, well this is a third world country where we live and these filters are the cheapest option for those who want to avail it. Other filters are availaible made in China, Taiwan and the most expensive Japanese one. usually these filters dont last that long too.

Here I was thinking that oil filters removed metal and dirt from your engine,when in reality the reason is to add swarf, dirt, garnet dust (the most abrasive material used in industry), glue residue and paint. Everything a growing engine needs.

It's incredible how watching how something is made can give you an insight on how that thing works. I always wondered how oil filters worked given that all the holes are on the same side but thanks to this video I have a far better understanding on them.

Oil goes into the threaded hole, pushes through the filter paper, then exits the smaller holes around the center back into the engine.

Also you can see that amount of sealant at the top and bottom lids is very random - they literally smear it with the finger. And QC is done by the cars in which they are installed :)

На похожем заводе, был сделан мой ремень ГРМ, который порвался на 40 т.км и погнуло клапана. А ремень, на первый взгляд, был оригинальным и куплен в большой конторе. И никто не виноват.

this is the way just in India for local consumers, most of the filters we buy in the USA are made in Mexico, China and even in USA, with way more sophisticated manufacturing processes most parts of the process are automated

I worked at The Wix (Mann+Hummel) plant in Gastonia, NC. These guys are building the filters the hard way! They used to make them like that back 70+ yrs ago! Loved seeing it done the old timey way!

I don’t want to take anyone’s job away from them, but I do wish we had factories here to make and manufacture everything we need. Guess the labor cost is what would be the issue. I don’t recognize that brand of filter though, but it is a good looking filter with the black and gold.

In the states this stuff is automated. I worked at a place where we made the inside of oil filters and many of the stamped parts. The high-speed machines did all the work. They must get very little pay for there to be a profit.

Respect to these people that work hard in difficult, precarious and noisy conditions for most certainly a low salary. Didn't think these were hand made, they can be proud of their workmanship and skills.
They are handmade in India probably but in Germany I'm pretty sure they have machines to do most of the work
Don't be stupid, made by hand is slow and low productive, they have no match for fully automated pure mechanised production line, you should have noticed their production rate is really low by today's industrial standards, the only thing makes sense is the human labour is incredibly low from such production method, like no human rights.
Their Salary relative to others might be very good, they can't just pay them 50k USD a year, that would cause some massive inflation depending on the number of workers
@@ajp4709 Car manufacturing in Europe is expensive because EU actually cares about citizens and has strict safety regulations. European cars are sought after globally due to their trusted reputation of quality and innovation. I can't find a single Indian designed & manufactured car that comes close to the level of BMW, Mercedes or Audi. And i'm not even gonna include the top dogs like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren. There's a reason why Toyota decided to create a collaborative agreement with BMW and not Tata or Mahindra.

Other filters are availaible made in China, Taiwan and the most expensive Japanese one. usually these filters dont last that long too.

Here I was thinking that oil filters removed metal and dirt from your engine,when in reality the reason is to add swarf, dirt, garnet dust (the most abrasive material used in industry), glue residue and paint. Everything a growing engine needs.
Doesn’t make it better but if you read the filter casing at the end these are fuel filters

It's incredible how watching how something is made can give you an insight on how that thing works. I always wondered how oil filters worked given that all the holes are on the same side but thanks to this video I have a far better understanding on them.
Oil goes into the threaded hole, pushes through the filter paper, then exits the smaller holes around the center back into the engine.
@@A_Stereotypical_Guy In this case, it mostly seeps through the unglued gap in the paper of a random length, making this filter useless. Also you can see that amount of sealant at the top and bottom lids is very random - they literally smear it with the finger. And QC is done by the cars in which they are installed :)
Instead of watching a video where some Pakistani made the worst oil philter ever, why don’t you open a book and read how an oli philter works explained by someone who has got the competences to do it?
what blows my mind is my constant attempt to over think how things are made. today machines make or mold everything. it's not complex. even computers aren't complex if you break down what need to be included for functionality.

this is the way just in India for local consumers, most of the filters we buy in the USA are made in Mexico, China and even in USA, with way more sophisticated manufacturing processes most parts of the process are automated

I worked at The Wix (Mann+Hummel) plant in Gastonia, NC. These guys are building the filters the hard way! They used to make them like that back 70+ yrs ago! Loved seeing it done the old timey way!

How many pieces can one worker make in one hour? I worked at Mahle, one worker there makes 2400-2500 pieces in 8 hours.
I don’t want to take anyone’s job away from them, but I do wish we had factories here to make and manufacture everything we need. Guess the labor cost is what would be the issue. I don’t recognize that brand of filter though, but it is a good looking filter with the black and gold.

I'd be willing to bet that you wouldn't find more than a couple of millimeters difference between them.
These guys are master of their task. I bet 98% are exactly the same, and thr otherd have just a mm or 2 of overlap which offers nothing better or worse.
