Searching for a starship in distress, the crew of the Starship U.S.S. Exeter finds a destroyed starbase and a deepening mystery. Has an enemy species from Captain Garrovick's past invented the ultimate weapon, or is the truth even stranger and more deadly?
Shot in 2004, this film was intended to recreate the style of a 1969 TV show, right down to the lighting, rubber-suited aliens, and the look of photo-optical visual effects. Contact: starshipexeter@gmail.com

E X E T E R F A Q : -The actors are amateurs doing it out of love, so cut them some slack -There IS a volume drop problem with Act One, but there's no way to fix it on KZhead -The film was shot in 2004 but the post-production got dragged out for years because people were working on it in their free time and have-ya know-lives -The Exeter is NCC-1706 as it was in the Star Fleet Technical Manual; the TOS remastered number was applied five years after we released our first episode in 2002 ("The Savage Empire") -Our sets were custom built at Austin Studios and have no connection to other fanfilm series (though we donated the bridge to other productions), and shot next door to the Mike Judge film "Idiocracy" -This is the same Exeter seen in "The Omega Glory", hence the lizard's line "You command the unwanted starship filled with the ghosts of a dead crew." -The rectangular badges are based on those seen on the Exeter crew in "The Omega Glory" -Our Captain Garrovick is the nephew of the deceased Captain Garrovick and cousin to Lt. Garrovick from "Obsession" -There won't be any more episodes
Acting: Shatner style dialed up to 11. No complaints. The Set, costumes, and CGI was dead on as the TOS. That took a lot of effort.
Great show thank you very much I love these fan films
You're awesome!🖖👍
Too bad that there won’t be any episodes - I love this captain!
A true accomplishment. You did good here. Be proud. If this is the only one, then this is good enough. Congratulations.
2 MILLION VIEWS! Honestly, we never expected this little labor of love would still be getting watched 9 years after the whole thing was finally completed, and 19 years after it was originally filmed. Thanks to those who understand that making something like this, largely with amateurs and enthusiasts, is tough. To the rest: thanks for watching-even if you didn't like it. And to those who feel the need to make mean and belittling comments, consider the mantra from Everything Everywhere All At Once: Be Kind.
It's no secret, people are starved for decent 'Star Trek' shows. 🖖👽Live Long & Prosper, earthling...
I think you can ignore the nay-sayers. This is extremely well done and - better than that - properly entertaining. But I think you know this, you don't need any validation from me!
CBS cannot stand that you and Star Trek Continues actually gave what fans want. What a concept.
In 5 years you will have 10 million views, and you & your crew deserve it for your hard work & time. People were, and still are HUNGRY for the Original Star Trek's style.
@@johnritcher5751 Frankly, they don't care. They only cared when some fans started making a business out of it.
I am amazed at how accurately the producers recreated the look and feel of the original show. Excellent.
You're welcome.
I liked the 1960s Star Trek. It was fun, creative, stylish. Glad to see others feel the same.
The passion that went into making this look authentic is incredible. Very, very cool.
Who would write a nasty comment about this? It's a tremendous achievement. Producing a show like this is a MONUMENTAL task. That's why television shows cost so much You all did a fantastic job! Bravo to you all!
You think it's great ,not so long ago that would be called B rate, don't watch too long you get a black eye.
@@bencoss7003 I think you're being unfair. The slick, polished sci-fi you see on Netflix or other such places costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, to produce. They use highly trained actors that they've hand picked from thousands who've auditioned for the roles, the tech people they use are also very highly trained, and have gone through a long apprenticeship. They spend hundreds and hundreds of man-hours putting it all together. It's more than a full time job. The people who make these fan productions are all amateurs using their spare cash, and fitting it into their schedules that are filled with the work they have to do to live. This isn't their career, they've had relatively little or no training. Seen from that perspective, these fan productions are miraculous. They actually approach (in some ways) the level of entertainment the expensive shows attain. Yes, there are flaws, but that's not at all due to a lack of effort of creativity.
@@bencoss7003 I'll bet your loving the new LotR travesty. It cost a billion to destroy.
"So Say we all"
Well done crew, this is like stumbling across a lost episode that you never knew existed.
No one can question the spirit or effort. Feels like a fresh old memory.
That's a lovely compliment. Thanks.
Despite all the cruel comments and sarcasm I really enjoyed this ver of Star Trek. People tend to compare the acting lights & sounds to the original Star Trek which is natural. Great job everyone job well done . I hope to see more like this honoring age old & good ol days of sifi. Peace to all those that have truly gone on ahead on a new journey. ❤️❤️ It!
A wonderful tribute to a quintessential sci fi classic. Well done. I enjoyed it.
I didn't know what to expect but this was very nicely done. Back in the 60s this would have been the perfect spinoff of the original series.
It was actually quite well done! 😎
I've been a Trekkie for over fifty years, and considering what it must have taken to create this, I must say bravo, well done my friends.
Thank you. It was a labor of love.
All that was missing was my Dad yelling at me to adjust the color and " get the hell out of the way". Thank you for reliving some old memories.
Hahah. That's the best comment we've had in a while!
Wow forgot about adjustable color on TVs. Little knobs 😂
My compliments and sincere admiration to all the people involved in this production! The passion and love for the original Star Trek show are evident. The sets are beyond amazing in detail. Is the acting perfect? Well, maybe not, but then I've watched a number of these fan made episodes, while I've avoided almost all of the "professionally made" Star Trek material since Voyager ended. I find these far more superior and enjoyable. Many thanks to those who put all of the time, effort, and energy into these fan productions! Your devotion to the Star Trek universe always leaves me appreciative and a little emotional.
We are the first to admit the flaws, so we get it if it doesn't work for some people. Glad you liked it, warts and all.
This looks like it was made in the 1960's. Well done!
This is one of the best fan film episodes ever. I would swear it was made during the original run of Star Trek.
I saw the original series in 1966. If this episode, The Tressaurian Intersection, had been aired as a regular episode in the 1966-67 season, it would have fit right in. We would have thought 'that was a good one', and 'what great writing and special effects'.
Wow. I just discovered this 19 August 2022. What a wonderful Labor of Love. Kudos to each and every one involved.
August.22.22 for me 🤗🎈
@@JurassicJenkins Me too!
Me 3.
I'd like to see more from this crew. It had that 60s Trek look and acting style. This was really cool. Nice job to the cast and crew.
These guys production days are long long over. Check out Star Trek Continues.
@marko stathis Absolutely agree on both counts.
This after all these years holds up beautifully. Wish there could have been more episodes...
This is very well done. Wish there were more episodes than the few made. Good casting and acting.
Absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Gene Roddenberry would be pleased. I can think of no higher praise! I'm 63 years old now, and I watched Star Trek (before it was ever referred to as "TOS" - and before it went into reruns) as a grade-school kid in the 1960s. I feel that I just watched my first new TOS episode in over a half-century, and it ranks up there with my favorite episodes (e.g., The Enterprise Incident, the Doomsday Machine, and the Changeling). Thank you!!!
Logical! 🖖
I agree Kev, it has that feel to it! I also grew up on the original series as a primetime show. Yep, that old.
Still holds up well even in 2021. In a just universe, this would be the start of a TV series.
I am surprised and delighted you tube sent this my way. I was hopeful at the start that it wasn't some spoof or comic sarcasm of the original. I completely enjoyed the show. Many thank you s to all involved. Ps I watched the original shows each week in the '60's. theywere good memories.
I can’t believe that this is 20yrs old, and I am now just hearing about it, and seeing it for the first time! WOW, what a GREAT PIECE of Star Trek fanfare work! Major Stars & Flowers to EVERYONE who worked on this Gem….i just so sorry that this is the one and only episode you’ll ever do. 🤩👏🏼👍🏼❤️🖖🏼
I am not quite sure what to make of this program, but I admire the attention to TOS detail and the efforts of these actors. A far more enjoyable Star Trek experience than any of the latest stuff.
I thought they actually did a great job here with the sets and costumes. Even the Andorian has the antennae at the rear of the skull as in the original series. Sure, the actors are not top caliber, but they did well considering its a fan based show.
it looks legit, if you turn the dialog off🎃
to be fair, the original series actors weren't top caliber either...
True
I agree! Many of the original TOS crew were new or unknown. It took them a bit to get going but it was a great show. This is actually quite good!
For a fan based production I have to say I'm rather impressed with the set, script, and the construction of the show. Well done.
Who do I beg for more episodes? It wasn’t perfect but it captured the spirit of Trek and isn’t that the most important thing? Definitely need more episodes. After all, practice makes perfect!
Not gonna happen, but thank you anyway!
Wow. I am sitting here in slack-jawed amazement at how good this is. Very impressed with the effort put into it. Excellent work!
Even the directing and shot selection are authentic to the original series! Well done!
Im a true Trekky growing up when the FIRST original series was on - how come i missed this? Its BRILLIANT! 😊👏👏🖖
This was one of the best Star Trek films I've seen. Well done everybody!!!
Best fan film ever! Acting, Special effects, Plot, and Theme
Don't forget about the sets. I thought the sets were amazing too.
Well done. Outstanding production. The story pays homage and parallels Gene Roddenberry's vision of Star Trek perfectly.
I'm a treky from the beginning felt like 1969 again! I'm 65. Freakin awesome show!!! Thank you!
I liked the call backs to the Tholians and the race related to the Gorn. It’s really good considering it’s a fan project and I enjoyed it…wish there were more episodes. Regardless of what you think about the acting, they did an excellent job of replicating the sets, costumes, and special effects of the original.
To those of you who have criticisms.... You're not even 1% as much a Trekkie as these folks! LOVE to see the things like this that TRUE Trekkies come up with!! APPLAUSE!
If the title and the name of the ship were changed, and the actors replaced by the Star Trek actors, this film would be indistinguishable from the TV series. This is a very impressive accomplishment. Well done.
But when you said "...and the actors replaced by the Star Trek actors, this film would be indistinguishable from the TV series" That's the problem. Slightly off acting.
@@paulbriggs3072 I can't argue with that. Some of the acting was a little "wooden" shall we say. It was certainly the weak point. Acting can be learned, but given this was filmed in 2004, I don't expect further episodes. I do not however know if there were any others made. I hope so because it would be a damn shame to go to all that effort for only one episode.
They did a great job of making this look cohesive with the original star trek.
I liked how Exeter got its own fanfare and theme music... which still managed to sound like Star Trek.
This is your father's Star Trek, real Star Trek! CBS should fire Kurtzman and hire these guys. All my respect to the cast & production crew.
SCREW CBS ,,, START OUR OWN SCO FI SYSTEM ,, " SFS " TV NETWORK ,,,, ANYONE WITH THE MONEY WILL PUT ME UP ? MAYBE ELON MUSK ARE YOU LISTENING ??
OWN SCI FI TV STATION ,,,, SFS
I think the acting is delightful. People should take a chill pill as well as delight in the great feat of emulation and homage achieved here. Outstanding in all regards.
Amazing effort, I dont understand why there are several negative comments here. This is an incredibly well made fan film. ❤
don't listen to the haters, they're jealous. you made a great show in a classic style🖖
The audience is always right about what it likes and it doesn't like. We're happy with the result and if some viewers enjoy it, bonus. To those who tried it and didn't like it, we appreciate that they gave it a shot. We don't label critics "Haters."
I had seen the other pro quality fan series a while back, but somehow, this one slipped through the cracks, until today. Exeter is very well done. I enjoy the fact that it is set "beside" the adventures of the Enterprise, not "in place" of. These are new characters, and that makes it for me. Since it has been 3 years, and now with CBS new policies, I doubt we will see more episodes. I would much rather see episodes of Exeter, than Discovery.
Thanks!
Discovery is to much about Social Justice and not enough about a great story.
@@dankuchar6821 no, Discovery is about signaling "social justice" without actually addressing or exploring anything in an intelligent way. The original Star Trek would take a timely theme and look at it in a dramatic fashion, not just say "look! we're righteous!"
@@docsavage8640 I agree with you completely. Star trek was the first showed up portray an interracial kiss. It did some good things that way. But it wasn't about preaching and showing moral superiority. Or at least attempting to. Discovery is just way over the top. Too much of television is like that now. It's just Hollywood trying to slam their social agenda on everybody else. It's just not appealing to me. I wish they could get back to telling good stories. Thanks for your comment. I think your spot on.
Great sets, that really look like the 60 tv show . Nice effects and good acting . A very good film.
Ok this is amazing, perfect actually. Love the extra comedy and poking fun at the original series. All the while making the set, script, effects and acting all true to the original. An absolute masterpiece.
You captured the look, feel, and spirit of the original. Thanks from an old fan who grew up with TOS!
This stuff is better than anything Star Trek stuff the professionals are putting out. It has the look and fell of the original series. I’d rather watch this than the stuff Hollywood is putting out
My thanks to everyone in the crew and cast for putting in all the hard time and effort ( Not to mention expense.) to bring us an extremely entertaining story
Filmed 2004, released 2014, recommended by the algorithm 2022.
2023 for me. And I watch star trek all day long every week
Still on it
Just now for me 👍
A genuinely good ST story. What I really admire about this is that not one of the characters is merely an analog to an original ST series chr. They are distinct. I think that's a hard thing to do for a Star Trek fan.
Holy shit… I’d almost given up on finding anything I could enjoy in the world of Star Trek Fan Films. But this is just, insanely good. I’m blown away.
I thought that this was one of the best, if not the best, of the fan based Star Trek films I've ever seen. Wonderfull work!
2023 August. This just popped up on my feed. It was really good. Enjoed it much. Will share with my Star Trek friend. 💯
Sorry, I had to comment again. This movie is EXCELLENT. You guys should be proud.
These independent fan shows are so much better than the trash on Paramount +
Amen brother, amen.
That new stuff is unwatchable dreck.
I have read the many negative comments below but I must say this is the closest return to the original star trek at one millionth of the budget with unknown actors, how so many have been seduced by the CGI and hollyweird rubbish pushed out today amazes me..I may be a grey beard but my voice still stands look at the sets and original acting when Kirk first took out the first Enterprise where no man had gone before ....hello from Australia
What a great homage to the original series, while offering something new. This is by far better than any new Trek on offer here in 2022. Looks like it was made with a lot of love and respect to the original.
A much better episode than anything put out of the once great Star Trek franchise since Deep Space Nine. Well done!
John, you should watch Star Trek Continues! That’s amazing and follows up on most of the original episodes. It has 13 episodes until CBS sued them to make no more.
@@pattydriver9562 Where would I find that show? Thank you.
I really enjoyed this. This is true Star Trek. I am glad they chose to not have the setting on Enterprise. A new ship and new characters are very welcome.
Gene Roddenberry would love you guys. It's 100 percent professional, hard to believe it's fan-made. Forget Star Trek Discovery.
Man Discovery sucks so bad My father and I are both trekkies, and it is the only Star Trek brand we cannot watch
Wow! This is the first I’m seeing this in 2022. I love the franchise, but must admit I’ve never been inclined to participate in this kind of enthusiastic fan-love. But I sure do appreciate that someone put the effort into something this great, made with so much love and respect. Great work!
I've been a TOS fan since I saw the pilot episode the very first time it aired. My thanks to the people that wrote and produced this. You've done well.
As an older person who watched the original Star Trek as a kid, I really enjoyed this. It was truly reminiscent of an older style late 60's show. I just recently retired and now have lots more time to check out youtube stuff. I'm glad I ran across this!
Like going back in time.
Remember, there is no young and old! These are but our limitations. There is less experience, there is more experience. You are not old! You just have more experience.🐴🏜👍
I served on the USS Exeter, 86 - 89. Not my finest hour as I was relegated to script edits and camera battery checks. However, the port calls in the Omega 6 and Pinto galaxies were amazing.
Impressive. It's odd that I can't watch the broadcast TV Star Trek later series, like Next Generation, but episodes like this, set in the same era as TOS, are most enjoyable. Maybe because I can imagine that somewhere, Kirk and crew are still out there.
Well made and very enjoyable. There have been a few negative comments about the acting, but in my honest opinion, I think that they did well. It's not every day that a person gets the chance to engage in a very realistic revitalization of Star Trek TOS in their own way and perception. The sets, sound effects and music score were well done and in the right places. I saw no errors in the acting and the character movements. Everything seemed like it should be and as one would expect from a Star Trek TOS episode as it was done in the 1960's. Please continue to make more, I would be interested in what you all cam come up with next. I wish I could join you.
Absolutely first class. It’s like watching one of the original series, and just as good, if not better. Thank you so much
simply outstanding! the theme held strong to the overall premise of star trek. great special effects, sets, and costumes, too. wish you could produce more as this was a quality effort and much appreciated. thank you!!
Theres something wonderful about OG Trek's sound effects & music score. It always makes me happy, from a phaser barrage to McCoy's tricorder. Timeless.
I love this! In the old iconic style of the original series!🥰😃👍✨💖✨
Holy smokes!!! The sets are so awesome I thought I was watching the original. These fan films are getting better and better.
And this is already 14 years old ;) The full episode was released in 2014 but they started releasing parts of it ten years earlier.
Did they make only one episode
@@Mark-fm5eq 2 one was cheesy as hell but had a anice story but this one really hits it.
The sets were great. How did I not stubble upon this before?
It was a close shave.
What a fantastic reproduction of the original star trek series. I am amazed at the quality and special effects. Spot on and well done !!!
Oh Vandi, you came and you gave without taking, and we'll miss you today, Oh Vandi! 😢
One of the best amateur Trek stories I've seen. Great teaser and even better climax. Well done!
Krikee... this is better than any of the newer shows... you're putting Hollywood to shame!
This was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME !! As a staunch TOS purist , I give it 5 out of 5 Photon Torpedoes ! I'm an OG , and I even teared up at the end there . There is never a lack of Federation Heroes ! Thanks for this amazing effort !!
This super campy but it captures the essence of the original series .... loved it
Totally agree.
And a second added here! Great feel!
The theme song was surprisingly well done!
Really impressive attention to details. Props, costumes, sets, VFX, SFX, incidental music, even the fonts used in the titling. All very good. I feel some others here below have been somewhat unkind about the acting, I found it generally competent and the plot seemed entirely consistent with many of those from the initial 2 seasons of Star Trek. Overall, I applaud what I consider a very worthy effort.
This production was better than SNW and ST Discovery . It captured the TOS feel. The big boys could learn a lot by getting back to the basics.
Thank you for a drink of nostalgia.
This is exactly what I want from a new Star Trek series: something with new stories and new characters that still looks and sounds exactly like it was made in the late 1960s. For me this is mental comfort food. Thank you.
I agree....definitely my type of comfort food for thought as well.... and hopefully a better future
Started watching Trek back in the 60's. I must say I am impressed by the quality and commitments these many knock-offs have! Great work!
Swell job! I wish my mom was still alive to see this, she was a major fan of StarTrek.
I believe that Exeter is a truly fine piece of work which is a joy to experience. The writer was not afraid to make their characters fallible but also allow them the dignity of maturity. My perspective is as a long-time Games-master of ICE Spacemaster, the Star Wars D6 RPG, and Cyberpunk 2020 roll-playing games.
This is almost on the same level as Star Trek Continues
Honestly, I think it’s even better.
This was increadably well done. It holds perfectly to the atmosphere of TOS.
Star trek fan since childhood...this is friggin awesome.,thanks for your hard work...
Far better than anything Paramount has come up with since 2005.
Very sad that an amateur hour production with no budget can make the best episode I have seen in decades.
Excellent sets, effects and uniforms. Nice to see some grit in the Trek world. This was a lot of fun to watch! Thanks!
This has the feel of Original Trek, visual effects were quite good. You have give credit for dedicated effort of fans. Great job with ship models. Especially like the effects for Tholians and their ships. That last 4 minutes was exciting and action packed any Original episode. Bravo 👏
We are so lucky to have these extra episodes that complement the original series, as Spock would have said, "fascinating"!
Having participated in many small privately funded productions I can clearly see the effort put forth from every aspect of this episode, I am impressed, this is not an easy task coming on the heals of the Original Star Trek... I am a very big fan of Star Trek Continues where the Talent of the production is PERFECTION.
Filmed in 2004 You guys missed the CBS parameters and brought us something that looks like TOS but with a new crew and story instead of trying to re-create Kirk. And good quality picture for the time. Good story and acting. Thank you.
What a really nice job. I love the retro look of the sets and the story-telling fits into the 60's TV era perfectly. I'm disappointed on some of the comments criticizing the actors; I've seen worse in actual network TV productions. I thought that the Cdr Harris character in particular was very well developed and performed.
I lucked out finding this film. WELL MADE! Reminds me of the inspiring original series that ran in the 1960's.
