Kwame Thomas and Ben Sheaf scored their first goals for the club as Rovers ran riot at Roots Hall - hitting seven past a demoralised Southend United
Rovers claimed all three points with a commanding performance in a match which saw eight goals and two red cards - both shown to Southend players following late tackles on Taylor.
A stunning free-kick from Isaac Hutchinson put the Shrimpers - who were already down to 10 men at this point - ahead - but Thomas and Sheaf struck to ensure Rovers were ahead at the break.
Thomas hit a second to extend that advantage quickly after the restart, before Ben Whiteman, Kieran Sadlier, Aflie May and Jon Taylor put the Shrimpers to the sword.
Congratulations to Doncaster Rovers from Japan!!🇬🇧💓🇯🇵
That challenge in that first red card looked painful
Roots Hall, one of my favourite football grounds, been loads love it, love Southend-on-Sea. I'm from Lancashire
Love a well planned goal celebration, Thomas's 2nd goal.
Just got joe back. Joe "hold my beer" 😂
...Doncaster Rovers must be a true giant in the English football since they have managed to dimolish Southend Utd, because I remembered that I have seen a game between Southend Utd vs Wolves 1:1 and Southend Utd was a very strong team...
They play the beautiful game the passing is superb
What a score donny is ell done
That crunch of the first red card though ...
Excellent win from a good team with a top class manager keep him as long as you can he will see you promoted, from a life long Baggie fan and a secret Doncaster fan. #NorthfieldYMCA98 #Dameelizabethcadburychurc
Some really nice football tonight and killed the game off nicely, not always easy against a team who's had players sent off
they look a good team my south Yorkshire fellow club
That's the biggest away win I remember Rovers getting since the 6-2 away at hartlepool many moons ago COYR
Are biggest against crew Alexander 7-0
It was 6-0, not 6-2. You're welcome.
lol, Oh dear. Southend are just getting funnier and funnier every week. It’s got to the point I’ve stopped getting annoyed. Got to say well done to Doncaster but don’t go too over the top with praise as I think the local Girl Scouts could stick a few past them at the moment. (And yes I do support Southend for my sins)
Ben whiteman pulling strings yet again
Dear Southend United defenders ~ Still no idea what a 'back post' is.
I think my team would have got that many against 9
I thought the second sending off was a bit harsh. It looked like a rash challenge but then the number 10 was on his feet straight away, so you got to wonder if he caught him at all. Saying that, Doncaster seemed to be crusing to the win before the second player got sent-off.
KebabMusicLtd agreed. The first sending off was deserved - what an awful tackle even if he didn’t mean it. The second was a yellow at most.
Yeah but the Doncaster player should have got a yellow card because he dived
Great result.
Same again Saturday please
Full time❤
Good game
The fouls for those red cards get worse every time I see them
That 2nd red is literally a yellow. THE DONCASTER PLAYER DIVED
I’m sorry how do you think the second red card is that bad? The first was bad but he genuinely went for the ball. Don’t lie and act like they were deliberately reckless tackles with the intention of causing injury. That’s not on. In the second red there was zero contact the player dived you see it clearly
@@Kezpool thats not what I'm saying. They might not be deliberate tackles. They clearly went for the ball, but they missed. In the second one his legs tackle Taylor in a scissor motion. In this case, contact with the ball is irrelevant. The motion of the scissor tackle is excessive and dangerous. The referee is required to show a red in those circumstances.
Tbf well played scoring 7, happy for Taylor to get a goal, cant wait for when we win u in playoff final 😉
What a win
How are Southend not last
Cause Bolton have -5 points
Because Bolton had 12 points deducted!
Southend are worse than Bristol Rovers yesterday
Paul Malcolm hard when you have 10 men after 5 minutes....
😂😂Southend
“Southend get battered everywhere they go Southend get battered 7-1 at home 1234”...
"Ipswich get battered everywhere they go, Ipswich get battered 4-1 at home, 4-1 at home!" Love from Col U no homo
That isn’t really getting battered
And coming from a Colchester fan
@@tristramwoods8998 when the game is being played between two teams that on paper should be fairly even, then yes it is battering.
BrokenRecord 2004 nah not at all and who r u exactly oh Yh Colchester League 2
