Townscaper Maximum Town

With 662016 voxels, this is the biggest town I (or anyone else) could build in Townscaper. It is the largest base I could make, and is filled solid all the way to the top of the map limit.

Since this is now my most watched video, I'll plan to make a followup going over the Townscaper editor code and how it works. Let's say when the video reaches 50K views.

  • I think this is amazing and I would like to try it out...but when I opened the link, I had no idea what I was looking at. Do I need to paste the script into a certain file? Please help me lol

    • Sure thing! It's a computer program written in Python. So you need to install Python on your computer. You can get it at python.org Download the program file (TownscaperEdit.py) to the folder with the TownScaper save files. I would make a copy of the save file you want to edit, just in case. Then run the program from IDLE. There will be some on-screen instructions when you run it, but to get the most out of it you're going to have to either read and understand the program and the Townscaper data format, or just play around with it and see what happens!

  • Did you make this on Mac? I'm currently running into issues with my Windows version of the game crashing on my 200+ hour megacity build, so I'm wondering if maybe the Mac version runs better (I've heard it might be a 64-bit version which would allow for greater memory usage)?

    • Oh interesting! I see the resemblance, though I consider the Bucharest Palace of Parliament to be of a higher degree of architectural virtue. I think Kowloon Walled City is the closest real-world analogue.
