I’m an army veteran. So I entered college much later than most after getting out. We had in English class a discussion about life goals. One of mine I stated was pay off everything my mom owes and buy her a retirement house wherever she wants. I got laughed at by the 18-19 year olds and they said “why would you want that as a goal that’s a waste of money”. I smirked and said nothing in response. But I don’t see it as a waste. That should be the goal for every kid for their parents.
I really don't see it as a pay back. This is a well thought out and hearty appreciation of their great parents. Nice and touching videos.

My daughter is wealthy. But I have told her never to disrespect me by trying to pay me back. It was my idea to have you. And it is my job to always protect you and help you until my dying breath.
It shouldn't be considered as disrespectful. Yes, it may have been your choice to have her but if she decided to pay off your mortgage or buy you a car it'd be the ultimate sign of her love, gratitude, appreciation and respect for you and the fine job you did in raising her. She probably knows that you likely made sacrifices to make her life easier and it would definitely be disrespectful not to accept.

How is a disrespect to be recognized by your kid? Maybe, deep down in you, you fear your daughter may never do anything like this and this is your way of protecting yourself.
Jacob's old age would have been horrible if his son Joseph did not do the right. He took care of his father because that was the right thing to do. Children making their parents happy after their sacrifice for them cannot be said to be disrespectful . We show our love to one another by doing things that brings joy .

I admire these families. I have received only 1 Mother's Day wish, seldom Christmas or other holiday gifts or even acknowledgement. I have not seen n My daughter since 1995 & have financially supported 90% of my son for the past 30 years. I am 76 years old & very tired. I have only SS & it may be said I deserve what I have or that I deserve this treatment. I am very unclear of the reasons as I raised these 2 alone, never had public assistance, finally able to go to college in my 40's, worked (hard) for years. Obama care added to the end of 2 jobs due to employer insurance requirements. Now retired & my son has contributed to bankrupting me. I live in a tent as he insists on his freedom acknowledging no concern for my feelings or medical needs. To anyone reading this I apologize & do know I am venting. Wishing best hope to others.

My oldest said to me about 8 yrs ago how much he appreciated everything and thank you ,I was a single parent raising four boys in extreme poverty and made so many sacrifices but that's my choice for having children, that's what you do.. that to me was enough to know I done something right... I don't need a car or money FFS or paid back back.. that's why being a parent is about.. I find all these disgusting and just for the clout
