I fed some sheep nuts to the Angry Ram & his family, he seemed to be in a good mood & even let me scratch behind his ears. But as I walked away he reverted to his old ways

    • Vlad Piranha you can't tame wild animals but domesticating them over a period of time will tame em eventually. You can grow a relationship with a wild animal and have a great one with a relatively more docile one, it it's still wild. But ya know it's all cool

I go in to his arena to feed him his grain morning time give him his loving and go to climb the fence to leave but if he isn't ready for you to quit he will hook your legs with his horn and pull you off tge fence stand over you looking at you like you ain't done yet your my bitch and I say when your done.

    • It makes me wonder if he had a bad experience with a human, since he is fine with dogs. Angry Ram is not just blindly angry, it seems. Ornery, sure. But, he does differentiate. And/or if the dog(s) helped Angry Ram defend his family at some point, redeeming themselves to him.

    • Kay Cookiezi My understanding is that the previous owner was going to put him down, but I had not read anything about him actually trying to kill the ram. However, if this ram watched one of his kind be butchered by that human, or another, while a dog stood by barking at the scene, that would explain what I see. I'm speculating, of course.

    • when the ram first met the dog he was probably aggresive, but the dog was submissive and stayed within a safe distance. The guy kept trying after the ram charged him, and the ram doesnt understand this and tries to protect. Atleast that's what I think

    • I think the dogs are faster and can dodge better, while humans clumsily and slowly walk around . So we make for better ramming targets and rams love ramming.

  • @Angry Ram I was actually surprised that the ram stood alongside of your leg for so long without trying to butt it. I spent my formative years on a 90-acre farm in southern Maine, and dad bought about a dozen sheep, and among the ewes were 2 rams (one Dorset, one Suffolk). And while I grew to love and appreciate sheep moreso than cows, I could NEVER stay alongside either ram without them wanting to butt me. It's just in their nature, as I think they also view head-butting as "play" but I (or ANYONE) could NEVER, EVER take my eye off them, because both rams were always watching, and waiting to take a few steps back, then come running toward their target. Pound-for-pound, an INCREDIBLY strong and tough animal.

    • No, he's fighting for dominance. He is demanding attention, and when he doesn't get it, he demands it. Guy was giving in, so the ram keeps doing it. He should've taken it by the horns and put him on his back and held him there until he calmed down. This happens when you pet them a lot. You can be friendly with them, but not too much. You still want them afraid of you just enough that they don't challenge you, but friendly enough you can walk up to them and halter/walk them to another location.
