Beautiful 1-Acre Small Scale Permaculture Property | Limestone Permaculture Farm Tour
A tour of Limestone Permaculture Farm in New South Wales, Australia. Brett Cooper manages the 1-acre property as a productive farm helping to feed around 50 families. The tour includes a look at the orchard, caravan farm gate, chicken and duck areas, and shade house, and Brett talks about what brought him and his family to this complete change of lifestyle - in which they are thriving.

Really is this a 1 acre, feeding 50. Oh my god, the earth needs some million of people like you man
And people who say " I'm gonna be like you"
Noblest are the hearts closest to nature.Blessings and peace of mind be with you.
Huh?
Love
The earth needs many more people like this to return to nature
THERE SHOULD BE MORE OF THIS ALL OVER THE WORLD I LOVE IT
It's happening, like he said it's all up to us, do anything you can no matter how small, whether its growing your own kitchen herbs, starting a small garden, etc.
I want to start this too!
Government says no
@@bsfbestshortfilmsonyoutube The government doesn't care about this, stop saying bullshit 🤦♂️
I'm starting one here in canada on a 3 acre farm
Did I hear him right when he said his farm could feed 50 families? That's amazing! If 50 families were to bear equal responsible for taking care of a permaculture farm of that size, it would hardly cost any time at all. Permaculture community anyone?
yes!!!!
lets do it im all in sign me up
sounds like communism LMAO
Yes!
What an amazing accomplishment!! One of the necessary steps to reversing greenhouse gas emissions, at the same time providing people with clean and nutritious food! I'd love to see countless of these 50+ family feeding local farms near me within the next decade! All by myself and with few funds, I've started a 20'x20' vegetable garden in my parents back yard while working 20+ hrs a week and completing my senior year in engineering school. What he said is true, simple trial/error, some youtubing, and purserverence is all this takes to garden/farm like a pro!!! Nature wants to work with us :) let's all take charge and start planting today!!!
"You can work WITH nature, you do not have to fight it!" Thanks for sharing!
Such an awesome place. He shows how wanting to do something, working hard and caring very much can create something that is amazing and useful. 50 families seems like just a start if other people are inspired to do the same. Just wonderful!
Wow, this guy is so happy doing what he does. Beautiful
I had a permaculture period over some years and I loved it as you do. I enjoyed your presentation and I wish I had the right combination of health and opportunity to do it again. It is so rewarding!
That metal around the fruit trees for the chickens to scratch in is an amazing idea.
It is - I'm going to implement that this weekend. :-)
truly enjoy how long these videos are, i enjoy listening to the farmers give really detailed information about their journeys, thought processes, lessons learned etc. i leave feeling like i learned something vital instead of just excited and not knowing what the next step is!
What an amazing accomplishment!! One of the many necessary steps to reducing global greenhouse gas emissions, improper water use, and providing people with the clean and nutritious food their great grandparents ate! I'd love to see countless of these 50+ family feeding local farms near me within the next decade! All by myself and with few funds, I've implemented a 20'x20' vegetable garden in my parents back yard while working 20+ hrs a week at a rigorous engineering job and completing my senior year in civil engineering school. What he said is soo true, simple trial/error, some youtubing, and purserverence is all this takes to garden/farm like a pro!!! I love coming home after a hard day of work and tending the plants that give me and my family so much nutritious food. Its extremely therapeutic and works wonders for my mind. Nature wants to work with us :) let's all take charge and start planting vegetables and trees everywhere. today!!! :)
FirstName LastName Yes, it gives me hope that we may be able to feed together planet after all.
Amen my brother! I am doing much the same in my urban back yard in Oregon, USA! Astonishing production!
Proud to say I have started this in my back yard this summer. It's nothing but iron ore and red clay and all ready I'm starting to see a difference. Can't wait to see what it will do n two years.
Almost one year later; how's the garden? :)
2 years now how is your back yard farm?
Seems he is dead
3 years later....?
4 years later?
The idea of the corrugated sheet metal placed around the trees to protect the trees from the sheep is something I have been searching for! I have some small sheep , Shetland Sheep, which I hoped could be used for weed mowing. But the sheep also like eating the bark off the trees, killing the tree. But then once the tree is shielded the weeds would grow inside of the shield. Then in this video I see how the chickens are incorporated to clean up inside of the corrugated sheet metal, and the metal keeps the soil from being lost when the chickens scratch around looking for bugs! :) A larger/taller wall of corrugated metal could be used to protect the trees from goats (much more of a challenge) in a similar manner, but leave a tiny restricted opening at the bottom to let chickens squeeze in to tend to the area next to the tree trunk.
Just watched the most recent video and then came back to watch this one. My husband and I are hoping to find our piece of farmland in western Massachusetts. Watching how this beautiful farm has evolved, thrived, and changed so many people’s lives for the better is truly inspirational!
Simply awesome. I'm about to start from scratch and I've never felt more invigorated. So inspirational.
Pumpkins & cucurbits in general always grow so dank for us! I think they're the starter poultry farmers' best friend.
This is inspiring & thought provoking. Tx for sharing what you've achieved.
That was so uplifting to watch - permaculture is something i've also become passionate about recently; thanks for showing us your farm!
so much to be done on 1 acre land really enjoyed watching this video
As he says he does design consultancy and runs courses . I bet that pays a lot better than selling vegetables . I know all about low crop prices my family farm here in England
You guys gave me a new world and perspective about farming and permaculture, thanks alot🙂.... Any malayalees here??
I'm very impressed with your success. You are able to educate us here in Georgia USA, on Permaculture for the Earth. You are brilliant. Thanks
Very inspiring. I love it when people talk about everyone can do something, even if it's in small ways to help the planet. From little things, big things grow.
Spot on mate! We are about to try something similar over here in Denmark, thanks for the inspiration!
Ben West How's the farm coming along?
This is an amazing little farm. Thank you for sharing. I hope to build something similar someday.
+Karl Rosengrant Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
How is your project doing
Karl Rosengrant do it today, tomorrow will never get here. Start working on it now, if you put off dreams they almost never realized.
Love what Brett says here about trying to minimise your footprint, whatever your living situation might be, via all the little components of your life, such as growing herbs, how much you drive etc. Inspiring. My most recent changes are shampoo and conditioner bars, to reduce plastic use, recycling soft plastics using the RedCycle scheme and standing in a large trug when I shower, then putting that greywater on my garden. It all makes a difference.
Got a question for you; when using the shower water on your garden, does the soap runoff from rinsing affect the plants or the quality of the soil? I love the idea of saving shower water as long at there’s no significant drawbacks.
I use fairly natural hair care products and mild body washes which are oh neutral, such as QV. I tend not to put this water onto green leafy vegetable plants that I am going to eat (just to be safe) but I've had no problems using it on all my other plants so far.
Oops...I meant ph neutral. Frickin autocorrect!
hi I am from Newcastle npw living in Vanuatu south pacific. just started a small food garden .Here anything grows and we will grow most citrus and a everthing in season, including herbs and all tropical fruit. good work guys.
This is wonderful. My wife and I are interested in knowing more about permaculture farming in Australia.
ic.org shows Permaculture Farms all over the world by geographical locations in their database -- all sizes of farms and homes & ecovillages. Many you can visit. It is Intentional Communities, and so inspiring. This is a great example and beautiful, simply elegant video and presentation. Very very well done. Thank you!! All.
What an inspiration. First Class.
welcome to pam ann airlines
What an amazing place you have, regarding airflow in summer, you could use old computer fans from a scrap metal yard. These can be powered almost directly from a photovoltaic panel, just use a voltage regulator to prevent fan burn out when panel output is very high.
Thats generally what I was thinking, just have solar panels direct wired into a fan.

I love Brett's attitude, his enthusiasm and his down-to-earth way. I'm aiming to do a tour when covid lockdown allows
OK, you've earned my subscription! :-) Thanks for posting such a beautiful movie about a wonderful farm.
Thanks for subscribing!
What a lovely man.....my husband has no interest in gardening. I got sick many years ago and decided to chAnge my food but it’s so expensive to buy organic. I’m trying to grow things myself but sure would be nice if my husband was on board with me and we built up our yard like this.
I completely understand! I quit waiting for him and am doing it myself. He gets pissed at things I do, but I'm doing it for me!
Thanks for sharing, I've grown tired of the 'dream garden' aspects we see on Australian tv. As much as I have commented on their FB pages, about wanting more on sustainability and permaculture, I find here what I am looking for. Although living in suburbia, I grow some food and will grow more especially now I am getting onto polyculture and square foot gardening. It is a journey and I I feel a peace knowing I am making more of the right decisions for a sustainable future.
Great clip. Glad I found you!
Thanks for sharing !
Truly inspiring! A great example of how we can shift to more sustainable farming.
Mate, your videos are great! Keep up the good work.
Ace film, amazing project. Thanks for sharing!

Wow... What a beautiful place.!! Love to set up some swales here at some point. Thanks for sharing. Have a fantastic day..!!
Wonderful video, and amazing work in that garden! Thank you for this. It does my heart good to see.
Love this, great work guys. We are just starting out on our own project and this is great inspiration
I love your videos! They're really inspiring :)
It's amazing ND peaceful work
10:16 couldn't agree more. Small steps by a lot of individuals to reduce their daily carbon footprint goes a long way rather than one person going extreme. Very encouraging.
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much!
Easy-going attitude with a great open-hearted approach to building and maintaining their farm. Thank you for sharing all your efforts and inviting us in to see your farm. Cheers!
Whan an amazing place! You can feel the heart and soul that has been put into it.
Fantastic video! Thank you so much. :)
Great little PC property, thanks for the watch.
One of the most inspiring permaculture videos Ive seen. Thankyou.
Wow amazingly inspiring...keep on keeping on the wonderful work you are doing for your family and the planet...
Stroud is a beautiful place. I'd love to live there.
You guys are amazing!! We live in stroud NSW! hoping you guys have enjoyed that beautiful rain we got and fingers crossed for the rain this weekend !
Great tip: have tin shield fence around tree bases so chickens can climb into them to weed and fertilize with their manure. Any soil they scratch up stays at the base of the tree because it hits the metal fence and falls back in.
This is amazing.
Another wonderful homestead. They have really done an amazing job in planning and carry out a productive homestead. Love the RV stall.
Wonderful video. Beautiful property.
able to feed 50 families...omg this is legit amazing
Amazing. A great inspiration. Well done. Keith and Lindsay
this is my inspiration channel. I will start farming
What a wholesome human being!
Soooo inspiring! Thank you
Wonderful and inspiring! I want to farm this way!
Love this...always inspirational to see what others are doing. 5 years ago we bought a home with a nice size backyard...put gates through to neighbors, got chickens, remediated the very 'sprayed with pesticide' soil with mycelium, put in 11 fruit trees, some berries and vines, raised veggie beds and veggie hugels as well as a herb spiral. We do lasagna gardening which makes it extremely low maintenance.... I also planted over 500 bulbs 2 years ago...gosh they're beautiful when they're all blooming. We also tried mushroom plugs in tree stumps (sadly without success) We're a 3 minute walk away from shops- so see's right it doesn't have to be away from everything. Have wonderful compost and worm bins and make comfrey tea. Built a wee cob cottage, a cob sitting nook and painted old water heaters and made them into benches or art pieces and also revamped an ancient old camper for guests. We love our backyard and all it produces, and the amazing birdlife that has re-appeared as we left stick piles for them, put in a garden pond and a few other water features. Next investment is big water tanks.
Great Job guys!!
Great Video thanks for posting! I totally agree with Bret Cooper at the end of the video about sharing! I like to share what I learn in the hope it will help others and make this world a better place. One of my many motto's is "Work with nature and nature will provide all you need" Permaculture leads to abundance.
I'm inspired. ~ Gotta go, the garden is waiting!
This was amazing
Love, love, love !!!
great man , all the best , love Australia
Thank you for sharing - you just put a huge smile on my face :-)
+MyVegetablePatch That's great to hear! :)
Great info! Thank you for sharing :)
Wonderful place!
thank you bro how inspiring
Love this. I also left city life to grow food and be in more balance with nature. I also did this for health reasons. So good to see fellow Aussies on the tube, showing sustainability in life.
The ad before this film was for roundup! #adfail I love seeing what you can do with an acre of land.
+Elena Vitale That sucks. I don't have control over what ads are shown and eventually I'd like to go ad-free and be 100% crowdfunded by my viewers.
+Happen Films Yeah, I understand. I just think it's funny when they try to match an ad to the content, and miss the mark. Good luck :-)
F roundup
@@jamessmaby8758 Yey, F roundup. I just finished writing a petition to the local council, Rochdale, England, about their environmental management department spraying herbicide around and through the railings of the children's recreation ground play area, the trees there, and the public pathways; which coincidentally has since seen the disappearance of the endangered hedgehogs in the area!
@@CRHall-ud9mq Get your kids to a physician asap! One that will support you! Terrible about Hedge hogs? adorable little animals!
This gives me so much inspiration as I start this journey of transforming my garden using more permaculture technquies
this looks so dreamy :D
From SW Florida USA this was inspiring!
Awesome ... nicest people you will ever meet :) ... nothing short of inspiring and really amazing !
This is beautiful
It's amazing what Brett has achieved on only one acre. The best thing is that he also has multiple streams of income from teaching to selling his produce to having primary employment. You an inspiration Brett, keep up the great work.
Great video. We will share this with our customers for sure :) We sell land in rural areas and this will help generate some great ideas. Thanks for creating this!
great video many thanks
