  • I recently did this to a library/lounging space in our house. I chose to follow this method because we have animals, including an open top aquarium in that room and the other methods using a spray adhesive didn't seem like something I was too happy to do. But finding this video was perfect timing for me and saved me a ton of time to do this. staples hold the clouds up just fine and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. And if we want to remove it, some white silicone or putty will quickly and easily cover up the tiny holes from the staples since our ceiling has a knockdown texture to it already, it wouldn't have to be perfectly smooth anyways. Thank you!

Have a routine change intensity and color throughout the day. I have a LIFX bulb and I don't remember if it's the LIFX software or Amazon Alexa routine, but one of them can control the light to change automatically depending on the time of day. Awesome build! I'm not one for gimmicky gamer stuff like this but excellent results.

  • This is an awesome idea! I want to take this a step further and attach the clouds to a sheet. Then I could make a slow sort of treadmill with some rubber rollers and a small motor that's strong enough to slowly move the sheet so it looks like the clouds are rolling.

  • You cloud replace the light bulb with black light and ink your walls with runic symbols and drawings that show up only under black light. It will match with your rainforest/thunder cloud design and elevate both of themes to a whole new spectrum of awesomeness

  • You could use adhesive on translucent white plastic sheets that you could air out in your garage before installing. It would be much easier to apply flat & in panels. The panels would diffuse the leds more uniformly & you could use screws to put up the panels to make them more removable. You could even attach the leds to the sections with connectors. Or you could use heavy duty flush mount brackets that would let you just slide them on & off. Or clear tracks. I have translucent screws which allow light to pass through, so you don't get any shadows. Flexible white vinyl that lets light through could also work with grommets to screw it up. It'll be alot easier to clean like a rug or tear the cloud fill off in a year or so when it starts to get gross & dusty, & replace it with new fill before easily reinstalling. Speaking from experience, that will be a dust magnet & you have to think about periodic cleaning. I've worked with similar stage clouds, so I've been to this rodeo before. Also, installing foil before the leds will increase diffusion & make it more fire retardant. Periodic blasts with air will also help to keep them dust free or put net over a wide vac attachment, which will also fluff up the clouds. & don't think about the spiders.

  • really cool, one thing I will say to anyone looking to do a similar thing I have had lots of failures with those specific LEDs espcially in the longer ones like used here a big section of one colour will just die, so I would recommend spending a fair bit more on the LEDS
