  • What gets me is how excited everyone got when asked. The actual dancing and cultural sharing is amazing, but that little moment of “oh someone wants to know about something that makes ME happy” is so profound and universal and personal all at once. That’s what’s really getting me every time I watch this.

An oxymoron I know but think of it as for a moment the culture and art is represented by the instance of the dancers dancing. They become a temporary tangible representation of that culture. But when you stop dancing that art form stops with your movements so it's no longer tangible. Overthinking it yes but it's how I saw things

Now really, but I guess we just don’t dance. when someone dances, and they are in our religion, they make comments. or some sort. That influenced me :) But, In all honesty… this made me smile. The “Salsa” is my favorite. And the Siberian one. Maybe it’s just because it’s traditional? Maybe. Maybe.

I get so jealous of folks who can do new forms I would like to try but don't dare for risk of paralysis for one (bad vertebra and ruptured discs impinging on my spinal cord but there is hope via future surgery)...but got to stop making excuses.....lots of moves I could still do if I just try. A friend still works at a local grocery store despite lots of pain and the loss of both legs and one arm. An idiot hit him in the parking lot as he was getting into his car (the sun was in his eyes and he drove on anyway and hit my friend) and damaged the shoulder of his intact arm... still he works on and gets on with his life. BTW he is the NICEST man.

It's like being able to see through time and get a peak of their version at different stages in their lives dancing, till this one on their "sunset boulevard". Sort of like the beginning of Up where different stages of life blend in a smooth sequence of movements. I don't know, I can see them in their younger days as they dance here - as when you saw a certain gaze in your grandparents eyes as they look at an old pic or recount certain memories they're particularly fond of. They're there, but their mind is going back to those days

  • This is the first time I came across your video and I have to say we all influence each other with our dance moves whether it is from the north, south, east or west side of the world. I can see a lot of dance choreography has integrated with one another and it just shows how much we can influence each other to make a beautiful dance choreography. Dance is another form of human language.
