One of my shots of a great blue heron won a gallery award during this same time period. As the sun came up the smoke turned the sky blood red. The pond where I was shooting picked up some of that red reflection and I caught the GBH standing on a log in the water preening. It made a good composition that the juror liked and I got an award. So, something good for me came out of all that smoke. Other than that it didn't help my COPD a bit.
