Zambia Malawi 2018/19 Land-cruiser off-road 4x4

V6 Petrol all the way in this muddy weather conditions, thanks for representing Namibia

Brought back fond memories. We did most of these trails as guided tours. As such, obviously, they were not so extreme. But, still extreme enough for ordinary, everyday family people like us. With me were my wife and two children aged 9 and 14. We enjoyed every moment of it. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video.

Why bother? We spent 2 months 4WD safari Tanzania(TZ) Zambia Botswana Namibia Malawi and back tñ TZ. Had 1 week short rains TZ. Muddy bad roads but not as bad this video. Still more things break burning LOTS $4/gallon diesel! But to each his own adventure! After Vic Falls we had 20 min rain(Namib desert N.P.!) Namibia in 7 weeks. All kinds animals. Easy too see waterholes and game drives. Stuck once in Kalahari on sandy track. You can do most of parks these countries 1 vehicle dry season. Nice sunny beachs Lake Tanganyika. Great photography. Jan-March 2019. We did have a El Nino season which hdlped weatherwise. DM

Wow! How awsome! In the Arizona Desert I may see some horses, deer, maybe a mountain lion. What a site to come across wild elephants, water buffalo, Zebras and such! You guys were pretty brave to do this during the rainy season. Looks like a real adventure you had.

Hi Frank. Thanks a lot for the upload. I would not have the balls to do that stretch in Malawi. I could just imagine much more crazy situations which you could not film due to intensity of negotiating another potential disaster.

Great video. Next time for Tyres use Cooper ST Pro. In the mud deflate your Tyres more and carry a compressor to pump them up when you hit harder roads and tar. Some of your river crossings were too slow on the exit and thats where you got stuck quite a few times. Also fit a ComeUp DV12 winch on your bullbar, carry two more 35 meter 13mm steel core cables for long extractions on those wet roads. And next time don’t do it in the rainy season. Just my 5c worth.

Nice and adventurous trip. But also destroying the dirt roads while travelling in the rainy season.... The local people cannot afford such big 4x4....

Consider having a winch setup that permits use between front and rear of vehicle,simply make a frme to hold winch,two handles,tongue for tow hitch and Anderson plug at front and rear,hitch tongue at front weld to bull bar,then you can extract from front or rear,simple ,mostly a vehicle is stranded going fwd,with fitting at rear one can extract back!

Great trip, but when crossing a small river on very slippery roads make sure you keep the momento going always.

These terrains require skillful drivers that know when to press the gas pedal to gain momentum in the muddy areas.

Very nice video. Remember that mud is not like snow or ice. Doun't need to acceletate, keep the engine constante.

Excellent video. Your trip must have been very physical as well as mental exhausting. Which vehicle do you let lead, the heaviest or the lightest? How often did you find that the belief in vehicles ability to overcome an obstacle was not met by the ability of your vehicle to overcome that obstacle? Thanks for sharing.

Top heavy vehicle,stow heavy items low to centre of gravity,it is a basic tenant of off road driving,if in doubt,get out of vehicle and recon the hazard!!

Dacia Duster 4x4, a car made in Romania, not in Morocco, is very, very good for these roads. He went from Romania to Siberia Oymyakon, back and forth, at minus -70 degrees Celsius, with absolutely no problem.

It seems you had lots of fun. By the way was it about poor trip organizer or poor mud driving experience? Cause I know another road with more mud and dirty than that one, you should try that road too and come with best camera man this time around.

Great trip there thumps up for that - not so much thumps up for pulling on the tow ball, crazy! - people get killed by doing that, please at least wind a towel or something over the strap or better use recovery points G.

Next time pay attention to your tyre pressure, the lower the pressure the more surface contact you have and better grip, also use your max traxx

Ich staune immer wieder, wie viele mit AT Reifen ,solch eine Tour fahren, mit Pirelli oder Cooper MT Reifen waere es um so vieles einfacher! Bin mit Pirelli MT auf Land Cruiser J76 (ARB) in Ostafrika auch in der Regenzeit noch nie stecken geblieben!

Geography's nature

I hate to say it but watching some people attempt to drive off road can be painful. Lol. Mud terrain tires work in deep wet stuff with wheel spin, they were constantly in too low a gear and hitting things with too little momentum every time they were stuck.
