    • After a brief Google I can't tell if 'slinging' is the right word or if you mistyped 'signaling'. Slinging doesn't appear to bring up anything relevant. I've got a gsd and mal, my gsd growls when happy, angry, wanting pets and because it's uh 9:13pm. She's just vocal.

      @cool13girl10@cool13girl1016 күн бұрын
    • @@cool13girl10 yes. The term slinging is more commonly used at certain exotic care animal shelters and Wolf sanctuaries around the country. Slinging - often, incorrectly described by some as ….growling, has in the past caused in fatal euthanasia of wolves due to misinterpretation of their communications which is the main reason why slinging is encouraged to be used, instead.

  • We had a wolf when I was kid. Smartest animal we ever had. Loving, sweet, protective. Amazing guard dog. When he was about 15 he was mostly deaf and mostly blind. My dad was calling for him and he wasn't coming. My dad tried to take him by the collar to lead him. It startled him and he spun around and bit my dads wrist so hard that that it fractured it and he had severe puncture wounds. The animal was immediately remorseful when he figured out it was my dad. He just got confused and reacted. Point is that even when they're old and slow they have a lot of power to hurt you by accident as they are wild animals. It only takes 1 second for animal or owner to make a hard mistake. My dad had no hard feelings. But with small children in the house it was decided he would go live on the farm. Not shittin' on wolves, just saying be careful no matter how long they've been with you and respect what they are.

      @soberupihateyou@soberupihateyou18 күн бұрын
    • @@soberupihateyou He was a wolf. Probably should have been more clear about that. I was 8 when we got him and he was just a normal dog to me. He had the temperament of a pet dog. We treated him like a pet dog. He came in the house, was house trained, played games to trick my dad off his spot on the couch. Beautiful animal, smart as a whip. He got plenty of outdoor time too. Loved the cold and the snow. I had to be careful telling my friends as my dad said if anyone found out they would come take him away and we'd get in trouble. His personality is what made it work. Some other pups from his litter were kept by my dad's friends and they were wild as hell and not pets. We just lucked out I guess. He really was a sweetheart. As a 44 year old father now, I wouldn't be so careless as to try keep a wild animal in my house. I have too much respect for what they are to try and make one a pet. But hey, it was the 80's, safety was not a priority back then. At least at my house.

    • Exactly, on the domesticated part of it. My cat, who I have had since he was 18 years old (he is now 24). He was a street or feral, car until he was taken to the shelter when he was 16. At least that's how old they think he was. Throughout the time that I have had him I have found out that he will not be "domesticated". He is still a wild cat. He fights for his food and affection. The first time I rescued him for some teens who were trying to pet him after he ran out of a hotel room I had, he bit through my nose piercing and tore my nostril in half. After that, I made it clear that I am the pride leader and he is not to mess with me. He will growl at me and show his teeth so I know that I am annoying him, so I will let him be after that. It was painful and bloody but I made it clear that unless he is in extreme pain, I will not tolerate that kind of behavior.

We kill, we bleed, we murder, we steal, lie, etc. And than wonder why we do it and it all dates back too when you were infant and you opened your eyes for the first time and you either got hate and disgust for the rest of your life or love and affection. That's what makes the difference between a ticking time bomb or a calm gestured man or woman or cat creature. That's usually the neurotypical experience anyways. The "weirdos" as society calls them usually look at the neurotypicals like they are the insane ones. Not all "weirdos" are actually sane though just keep that in mind. Don't approach me or my weird kind we will give your baby crack. Anyways ya not only did we divide ourselves by the color of our skin we were born with, we proceeded too objectify and destroy anyone who had a different opinion than us. It is absolutely despicable and trust me most of them did not look sane. Anyways I could go on and on about how humans disappoint each other all the time it would be worthless, point is its entirely possible.

    @100GTAGUY@100GTAGUY11 ай бұрын
    • True, and there is not that much of this "feral instinct" that people like to blame when animal attacks. Honestly if you will push fully domesticated, big dog to the edge, you will annoy them, they will attack and possibly kill you. Wild animals are just not as used to us as domesticated or tamed animals are, and they react quicker. For example, my dog won't normally attack you but she won't let random person enter my garden, and even family members that are not living with us,needs to respect her personal space. She needs to meet you, smell you, and when she wants to be left alone, guests have to respect that - although she prefers to sit with people :D Point is, all animals have some level of patience, and we need to respect their personal space. Otherwise, well they may feel cornered and pushed to the limit, even a budgie will attack, even dog will, even cat will.

This has historically been in the presence of other dogs, she is a rescue with poor socialization, and has a much better bond with me now. The height of the tail is much better gauge; up over the back tends to mean excitement and/or unease, tail low and loose is relaxed and confident.
