TB was spot on about Newgarden's lengthy and rather convoluted explanation in the press conference making the situation worse. The situation was straightforward - You can't use P2P on restarts. Period. The only exception was Thermal. Everyone else got it except Newgarden, and frankly I think he and McLaughlin knew it also but decided to go for it anyway. Power knew better and restrained himself.

Wow this front wing digging in the dirt at high speed at 27:00 and getting out of there without a dent was awesome. Might be a silly thing to appreciate in a race car, but I find it more exciting than a glass canon F1 that would have got shredded to pieces and cost a stupid amount to repair.
One of the plus sides of having to design for oval impacts is IndyCars are almost open wheel tanks compared to others.
Back in the last gen of these cars, they were so aerodynamically optimized, with rear wheel pods and intricate front wings, any, and I mean any contact created a yellow flag because it was like a bomb went off and the fragments of the wings and pods went everywhere They completely addressed the problem and these things are robust now
Yeah it’s just too bad these cars are significantly slower than F1 cars around circuits and more comparable to that of F2 cars. Plus the intricacy of F1’s aero is what makes those cars much more interesting, spec cars are boring. Also no one cares about how expensive a front wing is to replace the teams in F1 have no issue getting a replacement. Only reason I’m watching this race is because it’s at my hometown circuit. These cars look very goofy with their paint schemes and on top of that not that quick. Simulations of F1 cars on this particular circuit are around 10 seconds quicker.

@@-._.-._.-Sully-._.-._.- And F1 cars won't be able to pass anywhere because of way too much aero wash and they're now larger and fatter than the current IndyCar. F1 is a Constructor's Championship. IndyCar is a Driver's Championship.
Would love to see an f1 car run this track
Barber & VIR are 2 of the best, most competitive & picturesque tracks in the US IMHO. The owners clearly envisioned way more than a great circuit (which they are), but the grounds of both are museum (Barber is a museum) like at Barber & quaint countryside red barn effect at VIR. Love running both.
Indy, I know that mph is the system, but we would be very grateful if you guys put somehow in small letters the speed in km/h as well in the corner, little, would be great. Thank you

Newgarden and his team should've had a season long suspension. They got caught cheating, HARD, and they were fine with it. Not how Indycar should be. If they weren't caught, they'd just have done it this weekend too. NOT, OK.

Im glad Will never pushed it. Knowing the rule and the potential consequences, if he did know about it and knew it was wrong, I would think he would have told the team not to keep the code in the car. I'm just saying that with that scenario, maybe it accidentally did get missed If all was true that it was an accident the one thing that could of helped the situation was leaving it to a few words. Say it was a mistake and own up to it and be done. Less said the better. Joseph made it worse with his press conference.

In my opinion Indy car has the best drivers better than formula 1 team Penske is set the bar I'm andretti global fan but the rest need to step up and challenge them more so what a Penske owns Indy car step up the drivers are the best teams need to get better Indy car number one formula 1 is chasing you
Not a great look for Newgarden and Penske at all, it makes the championship look bad too. I suspect they knew exactly what they were doing and I'm thankful IndyCar found out about it before they could keep cheating.
Ehh, you realize the owner of Team Penske, also owns the series? If the series owner penalizes his own team in the championship standings, how is that a "bad look"?

It was one line of code that would have worked on Hondas that they accidentally copy/pasted from hybrid testing.
Roger Penske must answer for this. His reputation has taken the biggest hit, and the future of Indy Car is literally at stake. There are lots of other series whose owner doesn't cheat that can take their place. I'm not interested in following a series that the owner cheats in. CART has not been gone that long!
Then read the Racer interview I mentioned in my post. It's an exact timeline from Tim Cindric and even shows what piece of code enabled everything.
Meh perhaps Herta should just concentrate on racing.

Um, a win taken away and two competitors being disqualified from an entire race due to a rule violation IS a big deal.
The team owner of the cheaters is also the owner of the whole IndyCar series. How do people not see that as an issue?

Not a fan of Penske either, but it was a mistake...It doesn't even make sense to try to cheat for such a small advantage (it wouldn't likely even change the outcome of St Pete's race anyway) and something that is completely detectable (someone watching the onboards with some attention would know realize sooner or later, that would be a really dumb cheating attempt if you would get caught sooner of later...). They took the penalty, which is harsh enough. There is no concrete evidence that they done intentionally or not which could be used within the rules. Remember we can't attribute to malice what can be perfectly explained by stupidity.

Although I Have My Favorite Drivers , I`m A Fan Of All The Drivers, And Teams . I Always Wish That All The Drivers Who Start A Race Finish The Race, And I Pray For All Those Involved In IRL May They All Have A Blessed And Safe Season.
