The issues would be debated, the public educated, and then a vote taken. Votes that fail will have to wait a year before trying again. Any new proposal (Citizen Initiated Referendum) would have to reach a threshold of support before it made it onto the register. This would be subject to a Social Contract (New Constitution) that forbids human rights abuses and discrimination. That can be written in the same manner based on the core principles we all share. Councils and Boards could operate in the same fashion at Scale. It works in a way that obligates people to better educate themselves ( that is to use logic and evidence in their reasoning ) for a better understanding of the issues, and then take collective responsibility for the outcomes. As opposed to the divisive US v them scapegoating and bi-partisan finger pointing the current Capitalist Pyramid Scheme runs on. The coverage also enabled "independent journalists" to cover it, some even with accuracy. Some people are foolish to not realise "independent/citizen journalists" get most of their info from the "mainstream media". I follow some independent creators who have built my trust in their perspective while also following major news organisations with a healthy dose of scepticism and awareness of their faults (for example too much focus on opinion to fill the 24/7 news cycle).

Many incidents which have received thorough coverage by independent media outlets, have not been reported by the BBC. In some cases there may have been a brief, one-off mention - so they can say they reported it. A quick google only led me to BBC's world news US/Canada page with a written article. I don't see any videos of the news being reported on television. Watching the BBC in Britain, there is regular mention of the 'horrors committed by Hamas', as well as interviews with freed hostages, etc. There is a disproportionate lack of reporting when it comes to what Israel has done.
