UNBOXING THE MICROSOFT HOLOLENS AND SETUP

2016 ж. 11 Там.
1 978 457 Рет қаралды

I bought a Microsoft HoloLens to develop stuff on it! As of August 2, 2016, developers in the United States and Canada can now order up to five devices per Microsoft Account (MSA) directly from the online Microsoft Store. There’s no application, and your devices will ship within a few days.
Leave any questions you might have about the HoloLens in the comments!

    • six sided Would apple designed their own VR glasses similar to hololens and would cost $3,000? Think about it. Microsoft didn't say anything that the hololens was aimed for the consumer. Meanwhile, there is the htc vive which cost less than this. Which product would you think consumer will get?

      @arjunnava@arjunnava7 жыл бұрын
    • Bro, that's not cool. Yeah, the unboxing section was annoying but he's done a pretty good demo of a 3000$ product as a service to the youtube community and he's one of the first and few to have done it. Comments like that are disrespectful and totally ungrateful. FYI, if you're watching youtube using HTML5, you can speed up the video by clicking the little gear icon and selecting a different speed. I personally watch all the videos at 1.5 speed. If it's a really long 40min video, I watch it at 2 speed and switch to 1.5 when they're talking about stuff that interests me. Hope that helps.

How this technology works is simply projecting a black screen . than adding light contrasts. if you have a BBQ grill. and the sun reflects off it . you'll see the sun as white. rather yellow.

    @yoon5848@yoon58487 жыл бұрын
    • You get used to it, but you know in the back of your mind that it can be better because you'll watch a video of a HoloLens recording, and you'll think to yourself, "I didn't see all of that." With the consumer version of HoloLens, FOV will definitely be better. FOV or resolution is one of those things that consistently gets better with most VR and AR products, so I wouldn't worry about it.

  • whoops! so tell me Nerve Gear technology isnt possible anymore, right?

    @philippuntoro9710@philippuntoro97107 жыл бұрын
    • Its not possible, atleast not with current technology. We have studies in nural networking, but its no where remotely close to the the Nerve Gear. The fictional Nerve Gear locks you into the cyberspace world with a 7D reality, we are still not in that space, and I'm willing to bet that we wont be in that space for another 100 or 200 years, if ever. I mean hey, I'm sure back in the 1800's no one thought current 'electronic' computers could ever be real, or KZhead could be real, so I cant just say its impossible, but yeah, we are no where close to the Nerve Gear. Plus, the Nerve Gear is pure VR, the hololens is AR.

    • zrex2metagor May I remind you that we are currently developing arms and legs prosthetics that work by thoughts alone . I'd say your estimation is way off .

      @mymainyt6262@mymainyt62627 жыл бұрын
    • destin creech arm and leg prosthetics are far, far simpler than full immersion virtual reality.

      @christopherlee7334@christopherlee73347 жыл бұрын
    • Christopher Lee doesn't matter principle is the same both will require some Nero link most likely. my point is that the estimation is off . considering processing power increases every 6 months I doubt a 200 year to even a 50 year span is what it will take. or it will burn and we won't get it because the technology crashes.

      @mymainyt6262@mymainyt62627 жыл бұрын
    • destin creech We have different definitions of "remote" and "far away", and I actually agree with you in time scale. I just don't think we're going to see this technology in the next five to ten years, and I think Kurzweil's estimates of a 2047 singularity wildly optimistic. I'd love for it to actually happen, of course, but I'm not putting money on it.

    • MrComputercracker Great question, when we designed holo lens our main concern was the details and by minimizing the FOV we can calibrate the focal point so it wouldn't alter if you move your head. Next question.

      @MarcLloydZ@MarcLloydZ7 жыл бұрын
    • M.L OK. Why couldn't you just have the hololense recreate a virtual prerendered space to overlay onto the user's surroundings? I feel like that would allow for a bigger fov, though may require a faster processor. Also how many gigahertz does the current hololense processor run at?

      @MrComputercracker@MrComputercracker7 жыл бұрын
    • MrComputercracker no such thing as pre render space, pre-render = just a 2d image

      @jyun3102@jyun31027 жыл бұрын
    • upload a 2D image of a square to the hololens. Make the square 5x5 feet. This will be the top down overlay of the real space. Use that over lay to create a calibration program so the hololens can calibrate itself along the Z and X axis. But how do I make a calibration program? Put clearly visible markers for the physical representation of the virtual space around your work space, then stand on one edge of the perceived cube space and turn your body 360 degrees. This will allow the hololens to create a 3D landscape picture of the entire room from one side of the square. Do this for all four sides. Now design a program to stitch all four pictures together and create a virtual space. This way it just needs to be placed into a calibration space when not in use. Does that sound like it could work?
